Q: How many Demonlanders does it take to change a light bulb ? 1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed. 14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently. 7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs. 6 to argue over whether it’s ‘lightbulb’ or ‘light bulb’. Another 6 to condemn those 6 as stupid. 22 to tell THOSE 6 to stop being jerks. 5 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is ‘lamp.’ 15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that ‘light bulb’ is perfectly correct. 49 to post memes and gifs (several are of Michael Jackson eating popcorn with the words added, “I’m just here for the comments.”) 19 to post that this page is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a light bulb page. 11 to defend the posting to this page saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant here. 24 to discuss the merits of LED/swirly fluorescent light bulbs 44 to claim LED and fluorescent bulbs will kill you. 12 to post F. 8 to ask what F means. 7 to post ‘Following’ but there’s 3 dots at the top right that means you don’t have to. 15 to say “can’t share” 2 to reply “can’t share just copy paste” 36 People to post pics of their own light bulbs. 15 People to post “I can’t see S$%^!” and use their own light bulbs. 6 to report the post or PM an admin because someone said “f÷×$” 4 to say “Didn’t we go through this already a short time ago?”. 13 to say “Do a search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs.” 3 Admins to ban the light bulb posters who took it all too seriously. 1 late arrival to comment on the original post 6 months later and start it all over again. 20 to give up on fb and take their dogs for a walk. Then somebody says they’re leaving group, and someone says this isn’t an airport, no need to announce your departure.20 points

Sparrow’s been hanging around the 16 possession mark a game over the last 2 years. Would like to see that increase to 20 next year, particularly given there may be an opening for more midfield minutes next year. I would also like him to play more games like the St Kilda game at Marvel this year. 22 and 2 goals. If he can start doing that on a semi regular basis, he’s really going to elevate himself to a seriously good AFL player.6 points

This man will decide our flag fortunes next year. 25 great games from him and Max and we've got a tremendous chance.5 points
-
He easily has the most upside potential of any of our forwards not only because as everyone says he needs to bulk up and is obviously doing so, but his height, telescopic arms and soft hands marking the ball like fritsch impress me most.5 points

3 to shout down anyone who calls the light bulb names 1 to have a glass of shiraz in left hand whilst changing the bulb with the other hand 5 to call the light bulb fat 8 to yell at the light bulb "don't read the thread if you don't like it!" 28 to claim that the light bulb 'isn't the right guy', and that the world really is flat 19 to call the light bulb woke, antifa, lefty, socialist or greeny because the bulb is LED 6 that want Jesse Hogan to return and change the bulb4 points

Agreed, much more mongrel than Laurie, who might as well not have been out there. In fact, at this point, I don't see that Laurie offers anything different from Spargo, but with less bite. Given the plethora of players we have around this size and skill set, I do think Laurie is going to find it difficult breaking into the team, but I'd be happy to be proven wrong.4 points

If Spargo played vs the pies, we win the flag. For me it's that simple.3 points

Harrison will play a vital role in premiership calculations. If fully fit he has so much to offer as a forward - strong marking, leading, kicking set shots, yet also a serious option as a (Premiership) defender if needed.3 points

I warmed to Tom Sparrow from day one and believe that 2024 will be his breakout year as 2023 was Trent Rivers. He has built a lot of trust within the team and is ready to take on greater responsibilities and I am looking forward to his continued rise within the team.3 points

At his best he is a real weapon, endurance running and deadly accuracy. But as with all "high half forwards" an extended drop of form can make them a liability. I expect Chin and Spargo to be competing with McAdam, Billings and even Tholstrup for those spots this year. I think the competition will be healthy.3 points

I’m a fan of Chin. First half of the year he displayed his value with a very good level of defensive play and kicking goals. He was always busy in and around the play. He seemed to tire with a full season at AFL level. Hopefully with more AFL experience he will run out a full season.3 points

i’m offended. my brother stepped on a broken light bulb when he was 8 and died from sepsis from the infection. very insensitive delete thread immediately news.com to post article “Forum to be cancelled due to ‘disgusting’ insensitive comments” 😂😂2 points

I recently joined the Flat Earth Friends group on Facebook, and I’ve never seen such a busy group in all my years of Facebook use! I’m positive that the vast majority are there to extract the urine, or for the laughs (I sure as hell am), of which there are plenty. You’ll encounter some of the best creative writing you’re likely to read, coupled with ideas and comments that are both pure genius and so astoundingly stupid at the same time, they’ll have you pulling your hair out by the roots… as Molly would say, “Do yourselves a favour…”. But be warned, if you join the page, it will overrun your feed like an out of control Lantana infestation… but still, I cannot recommend it highly enough regardless!!2 points

Was YouTubing some late 1980’s MFC games and came across a 1988 game against Collingwood at Waverley. We won by about 10 points but Wilson was the absolute difference in the game with 30 touches and 5 goals. Genuine super star performance.2 points

Competition for places is so important. IMVHO he did an OK job 2023, but needs to at least go even and probably improve with competition from the likes of Wowoden II, Howes, and. even Billings (maybe) and Windsor.2 points

Love the guy - tough, strong and a booming kick (bang, bang, bang) Can only get even better with time and maturity. Go Tom.2 points

Yes agree with all above we need Charlie back to his best in 2024, tackling, putting on pressure and hitting up targets in the forward 50 and consistently nailing those snags from within 40.2 points

Quiet season for Spargo. Hoping he gets back to his best in 24. Actually Kozzie and Anb had quiet ones as well. Chandler started in a fanfare and disappeared. Kozzie still scored goals but didn't seem to impact games like last year. But back to Spargo, I will say he always finds a teammate with his pin point disposals.2 points

I like Hunter. I thought he was harshly judged this year. His endurance is elite and his kicking is nowhere near as bad as some people on here make it out to be. I'm still an Ed Langdon fan but Hunter was the better wingman this season.2 points

Absolutely LOVED seeing his delight when he nailed his debut goal this season. Hoping to see much more of him in '24.2 points

19 to say the lightbulb is cooked and shouldn't be turned on next week 14 to say they trust JT to determine if the lightbulb has the correct amount of lumens to perform long term 1 to say that absolutely no reference will be tolerated to former sparkies that uninstalled AND unplugged previous lightbulbs 3 to say that the lighbulbs are so dim at Entrecote that it's impossible to determine whom did what to who 976 to say the lights came on at 16:19, 25 September 2021.1 point

That grand final goal! Never forget it. Huge kick off one step with three opponents streaming at him from all directions. What composure and what a powerful kick. The adrenaline was really flowing here. Love his toughness too.1 point

Big fan of the Chin. His goal kicking accuracy is pretty good, hard at the ball, and has a good leap and very strong over head marker for his size, this is a really underrated skill of his. Could make a formidible partnership with likes of Kozzy, McAdam in '24.1 point

Wait, is that peanut flavoured M&Ms or M&M flavoured peanuts? Either way, I've just pictured a herd of elephants going nuts on food dye additives and I'll definitely have nightmares tonight. Friend of mine in school insisted on calling M&Ms 'mandms' as if it were a single word. It was contagious and took discipline to not slip. Ugh, high school memories. More nightmares tonight.1 point

His post bye form did not build on the solid pre-bye form. Happy to put that down to first year fatigue. Our gameplan is a tough one for a forward. Quick one on one delivery is not our forte1 point
-
You shouldn't be. He was a young kid playing his first year of senior footy, in a crowded key forward line, where he was often played up the ground, out of position. He took some beautiful contested marks against senior players and is a lovely kick for goal, which will be an asset in our inaccurate forward line. Give him another year of senior footy and another pre season and with BBB, Tom Mac and probably Schache gone he will get his chance.1 point

Not true Cranky. I crapped on about Lucas Cook needing just a little more time from start to finish. It's all in the wording. Even now, not completely ready to let go.1 point
-
He is a lanky kid who needs 23/24 and 24/25 preseasons to build size and endurance before he can be assessed. So far though he has shown signs of taking one grab marks at the highest point and making the most of opportunities. Not easy to kick bags in a 2023 VFL forward line which had him at different times competing with Brown, Schache, TMac, Grundy. A 2024 at Casey as more of a focal point where he kicks some bags but is inconsistent in output and likely tapers as the season finishes is what I would expect.1 point

Looks a long way from senior selection, which is fine as a long term key position prospect, but there are some serious Weideman vibes about Jefferson. Let's hope he develops the intensity and competitiveness that Weideman was never able to show, because otherwise he will struggle to deliver upon his potential.1 point
