Guys, I can let you know that the lifestyle story around Grundy to Sydney is not quite correct. More accurately is that Longmire impressed far more than Hinkley and the two 23 year olds Ken brought to the meeting. It is also looking likely that JJ will also select the Swans.13 points

The last few weeks I’ve realised I like Aussie Rules the game, can’t stand the AFL as an industry, but love the Demons. The manufacturing of storyline’s and outcomes is so obvious. Watching the AFLW is a revelation. It feels fun and real.11 points

Yes, maybe the Swans will get confused and not realise they get JJ for free as UFA.10 points

A part of me feels better but a part of me is telling me what could have been. This draft period is just so crucial on how the next few year will play out. Last 6 weeks we had no luck whatsoever.8 points

Riley Beveridge reporting on SEN Crunch Time that the AFL are going to recommend an assistance package to North Melbourne of: - End of first round pick in 2023 - End of first round pick in 2024 - End of second round pick in 2024 - No priority access to Riley Sanders ** Pick 3 compensation for McKay is a separate issue. Will “likely happen” but won’t have anything to do with assistance package.8 points

Feeling better now. We would not have beaten Brisbane without Pickett, Petty and Melksham. Hope they smash the filth next week.7 points

The Suns help was way over the top but it was justified as they were pretty much starting again from scratch as was not reigning in their academy by now. It’s a huge slap in the face for clubs like St Kilda, Freo, Essendon who haven’t won stuff all in years that North are getting spoon fed an easy path back to finals. Doesn’t guarantee more than that but they now have an easy way to build a consistently finals side. And these picks will help them for a decade, that’s the problem. Any help for bad teams should be based on helping them go from awful to just ok. North have barely tried to do that, they’re still stripping away veterans and not making aggressive moves for mature talent. Where’s the Vince or Tyson trades to actually get better now not in 3 years time?7 points

Our list profile is strong. We have good young key position players - Petty will be 24 at the start of next season, JVR doesn't turn 21 until mid April, Jefferson will turn 20 in March. Other than Viney, all of our top midfielders will be 28 or younger at the start of next season and still in the absolute sweet spot. May played out the season well and I remember Brian Lake moved to Hawthorn at the age that May is now and was a key player in three flags! Gawn will continue as the dominant ruck for at least a couple more years. He doesn't turn 32 until the very end of this year and will be our oldest player (assuming Melksham doesn't come back). Young players who should continue to improve include McVee, JVR, Sparrow, Bowey, Rivers, Pickett. If the players are hungry enough, there is more than enough talent to have us competing again next year and the years beyond.7 points

Bold thing to say about a guy who has taken the team to a flag and 3 consecutive top 4 finishes.7 points

If Collingwood were playing the Taliban in the Grand Final next week I would be wholeheartedly supporting the Taliban.6 points

Interesting that in the post game presser Kingsley basically had a go at the stringent concussion rules which saw one of better players in Daniels go off in the final minutes for an HIA and subsequently pass with flying colours. However last week you had Waitering who looked like he went 15 rounds with Mike Tyson and was about to collapse in front of 95,000 people, only for the AFL to come out and congratulate Carlton’s medical team on their handling of the matter. Makes perfect sense I guess….6 points

The most infuriating thing about Collingwood making the Grand Final is that they’re not even that [censored] good.6 points

That's the best the Blues have, and the worst the Lions have. If the Lions begin to play their game, no way do the Blues continue in the same manner.5 points

I am an MCC member. I got lucky in the ballot for GF seats. But I am seriously considering not going to the game for the first time in 40 years and letting someone else have my reserved seat ticket. Why would I boycott the game? Because the final series to date stinks to high heaven of favouritism and biased adjudication, both at the tribunal and on the field. And we all know which teams have benefitted from this disgraceful state of affairs. If Maynard gets to hold up the cup next Saturday, I will throw up and it's probably better I do that in private, rather than at the ground. The only reason to go would be to watch Brisbane belt Collingwood by 10 goals, so if Carlton wins tonight, I will definitely be treating the GF as something to be avoided like the plague.5 points

First thing i see this morning is that ugly bogan Maynard celebrating on the final siren. Media did that on purpose to rub it in our faces. You guys are probably going to cop it all this week. Leave and go interstate or o/seas. Apparently Daicos might be cited for a high impact on Daniels? Absolutely hilarious. NO WAY Daicos gets suspended. If it was Rivers or Bowie they'd be gone already by the MRO. Pickett or May would of got 3-4 weeks for the Maynard incident and we all know it. No appeal. Its done. What a shocking Sept finals its been. Surely Carlton cant win. I think whoever plays the Filth will win it. Their luck could be about to run out and they'll be tired after that huge hit out. If Lions have a soft win today it should be curtains for the Filth and Maynard.5 points

When Hogan kicked that goal to get the Giants within 1 a Richmond friend asked how Melbourne must feel seeing that. If anyone should be feeling bad about Jesse playing this kind of footy it's Freo. They couldn't make it work in the perfect hometown environment and they are crying out for a forward as well right now.5 points

Yep, the idolization of sex offenders, thugs and cheats under the guise of being good blokes who can kick a footy is nauseating. If you hate what this country (and world) is becoming, spare a thought for us women.5 points

I know a lot don't rate him, but i'd be going for Chol, i don't mind what he brings in the ruck and i think he'll offer more as a forward than Tmac and Brown are capable of at this stage. if we could somehow work that pick 4 into the deal by including points and future picks that'd be the dream outcome, but unless we offer overs that's going to the Doggies or North5 points

I hate the filth. Sydney beat the filth by a point in last years prelim and then got flogged in the granny. Hope the same happens to the filth this year.5 points

A few random thoughts following my B. Mackin right leg post. Casey Sherriff will probably never get in the votes. Just doesn't get enough of the footy. But 2 or 3 times a game she has a "right place right time" moment which often result in goals. Despite not kicking bags, Tayla Harris is having a hell of a season. Gets to so many contests, very team oriented and is a wrecking ball when the opposition has the ball. Paxy might play until she's 50 Georgia Campbell is improving by the week. Fantastic heir apparent to Loz. Goldrick is a modern day Rhino Richards. Tyla Hanks has long reminded me of a male player and it annoys me that I've not been able to pin down who it is. Her low to the ground running style, her vision, her change of direction and her ability to weave through traffic with a shift of her hips. I'm now thinking it's a composite of Gary Ablett Jnr, Cyril Rioli and Lally Bamblett.5 points

I guess it might be now but back when we recruited Brown it took the 4 year deal to get it over the line. We won the flag so in my eyes will always be worth it. He's a good guy too, who is doing some great things with the AFLW program. Unlikely he'll play any senior footy again but I'm sure will lob onto the long term injury list at some point and enable us to pick up another player.5 points
