  1. Round 6: Prelimanry 'What they are saying at Freo' Summed up by this post: So...umm...where is this "list" that is supposedly good enough? Seems like we need another draft or two to set us up in the long run. Whoops, we spent it on a jack of all trades: Competent in none. Oh but sure, we can trade forwards in from other clubs.....except we're not a destination and have to pay a premium tax as a non-destination club with no prime time slots and we have no [censored]ing capital to trade. And who the [censored] thought Pearce was a captain?!? He's struggling to hold his spot in the side. F.R.O. It's just an endless cycle of abuse. /rant Other Notable comments: Just imagine the melts when Melbourne walk away with our #3 draft pick. I stand by the Hogan trade ruined the rebuild. Thank christ. After a 6 year rebuild I was really worried we would play finals 2 seasons in a row. It’s ok we are the number one handball team in the league though. 🤯 …the players are ******* confused and doing whatever with no leadership Everything was going swimmingly until we named our new Captain and it's been ******* nothing but s**t ever since!!! You could realistically say every single player we brought in is worse than the 1 who left I'm going to enjoy the ride. Another dockery story to tell my grandkids. The time we got ahead of ourselves and gave away all our draft picks for a unicorn. Heading to Brissie next week, can’t wait ☹️ It’s confirmed. We’re just making up the numbers Bring back Chris conoly .. at least we used to kick multiple goals in a row. I cannot tell you how irrationally mad I am about giving away our first pick this year. Why the * did we sell Lobb, Logue, Acres, Meek and ultimately replace them with an overage midfielder and a second ruckman. How the hell does that work? Bell is gone. Dale Alcock is a crock and would gladly for him to go. Garlick. Meh. List management will always be the kypronite of this club. My Favourite: 4ft no neck Bell who stands there with no friends but his ego, you are cancer: OUT

  2. Is this a trick question? The players never toss the coin.

  3. Not only that but he stopped trying half way through the season for Melbourne when Gawn was badly struggling with injuries and we could have used him. This bloke won a [censored] RS and a flag because he was lucky enough to be drafted by us. Then turned around and spat back in our faces when we had the audacity to offer him a big lucrative deal. Would probably be in and out of the SANFL making $200k a year if Freo drafted him in 2019. Can get absolutely stuffed. Do not feel sorry for him. He has his mum and his cash. He got what he wanted and he also got what he deserved.

  4. Ok poor taste, but jeez I laughed at this - from 'The Luke Jackson Trade' on Big Footy: What Freo thought they got: What they got:

  5. That’s why I hope we don’t boo Jacko. We booed Tom Scully when we were awful and Freo supporters reminded me of us back then - an unsuccessful side who has to boo a player to feel better. Let’s not go back there, Premiership-winning supporters are better than that.

  6. Of course it’s not his fault. One player is never the reason for a side being terrible. But it is his fault he chased money he didn’t deserve and Freo had to dump 5 of their starting 22 players to make it happen. It definitely explains part of why they look so awful. They went and got a player they didn’t need, to play a role that doesn’t suit him, and gave away their whole salary cap and draft haul to make it happen. Absolute stupidity. I would be furious if Melbourne traded 5 players to bring in a ruckman… and then forced him to be a forward… and then had 0 draft capital heading into a strong draft.

  8. Good luck to you Oskar Baker. Looked at home in the AFL. Not the top of the class but has been very handy for the Bulldogs so far.

  9. I’m taking a different tack. I’ll be cheering LJ. He helped win us a flag and then sacrificed himself by going to Fremantle and delivering us a promising KPF and a first and second round draft pick for this year. And to garnish the deal he’s not exactly helping their cause is he? What more could we ask of him? Having said all that it’s a long year and I note the significant egg that has been plastered on certain posters faces with the “What they’re saying” threads from the Brisbane and Essendon games. What I don’t get is the angst LJ is getting for leaving whilst at the same time being derided as an ordinary player. It’s a win win for us, let’s thank him for that and cheer!

  10. No it’s not. He was offered a ridiculous contract by idiots. He could also go home and play for the team he supported and help his family with some issues. Its not LJ’s fault, it’s totally the fault of the idiots in charge of their footy department. I hope they make more mistakes and collect the spoon.

  11. As much as I've always liked seeing a team named in position, they may as well just post the selected squad in alphabetical or jumper number order these days.

  13. I thought Baker was only boo’d sarcastically because the Dogs supporters had already boo’d Hunter several times, and at least where I was sitting, there was as much laughter at the pantomime as there was booing. Time will tell re: Jackson and boos.

  14. I can’t believe that. I didn’t notice it. It must have been just a few nuffies. As you know I have openly admitted booing one ex player but that was because of his behaviour not just his leaving. We all have to accept that in professional sport, players occasionally move teams. That is not a reason for booing them. I would be very upset to lose Kozzie, but I would never boo him, if he left. It is actually very childish. I know you understand that it was a perfect storm with LJ, where he had family issues, was offered a massive contract to return home and play for the team he supported and it was just too good to knock back. I don’t blame him for that. As it appears to be turning out, it may be the very reason for the Dockers poor start to the season and hopefully dreadful year, while maybe handing us a player or two, who will turn out better than LJ and have long careers with the Dees. We already have Jefferson and Grundy as a result of LJ leaving with more to come. I hope Freo are having nightmares over a 7 year, nearly million dollars a year contract and that they even possibly win the spoon. Imagine we get say pick 3 and we want someone who will go outside of the first 3, we could be offered even more high picks, while still getting the boy we want.

  15. Wow, is it really Jackson’s fault that Freo are having a shocker? The pile on is a bit much.

  19. When the Wiz played his first game for Freo against us at the G a lot of our supporters booed him and he just looked at the members with a hurt look on his face and his arms out wide. It was one of the worst feelings I've had at the football. If Kossi leaves us I'd hope that the same isn't repeated. Dogga is a big kid and he is happier at home with his mates, mum and family. Good luck to him and even better luck for us. We have come out of this better off and his efforts last year showed he wasn't as good as we hoped he'd be, long term anyway. Look back to what he was doing before he took up football over basketball, why did he do that, maybe to be close to his family, no moving to the US, a couple of hours away from home at worst playing football. I have no issues with that I only hope he falls to the bottom of the well with FREO, nothing personal only self interest. I don't boo anyone but Umpires and opposition players that do harm to Melbourne players.

  22. The train is coming into the station! The only team below Freo that is likely to rise above them is Richmond. The only team above them that is likely to fall below them is GWS. Result: pick 5, 6 or 7 for the Dees We need an elite midfielder which we have tried to get in the last two seasons. Plenty of currency to work with to climb further up the draft if need be.

  23. Reiterating; I have zero hate for Jackson. We've done very well out of the trade, and the gain of Grundy - which was only possible because of the hole Jackson left - is an unmistakable improvement that may yet shape our premiership tilt this year and for a few to come. I'm not sure any club has 'won' any trade more completely since the Trent Croad move. Meanwhile, I checked the scores of Port v West Coast and my brain is automatically working out how each win by a 'mid-range' team puts a ceiling on any Fremantle climb back up the ladder.

  24. From memory, WCW is going to watch Fritsch's younger brother play for a local or VFL club (presumably Coldstream) which has blue and white colours. She's decked out in those colours to support the boy by dusting off her clothes from the bad old days of being forced by family to masquerade as a Carlscum supporter...! Fritter will be watching too. Also I guess they let her out of St Albans for good behaviour (and not just MFC games)! How'd my translation matrix go, @WalkingCivilWar 😁

  25. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. Plenty of players have moved home for the same reasons. Unfortunately, that hasn't stopped some posters unfairly deriding him as a "mummy's boy".

  27. Booing LJ ? You're kidding right. We should all be cheering him very loudly!!!. Grundy, Jefferson and something like picks 6 and 24 in a mega draft. Who's booing that. By time we play Freo in rd 11 they are likely to be 3-8. Their games up to then are Lions at Gabba, Hawks Home, Swans SCG, Cats Home, then us at the G. It doesn't get a lot better after that. Tigers H, GWS A, Dons H, Dogs A, Blues H, Pies A, Swans H, Cats A, Lions H, Eagles, Port H, Hawks A. I could see them ending up with 5-8 wins. Last year 6 wins = 16th. 8 wins = 14th & 13th. We've got to be a real show of getting something between pick 3 to 6 and picks 21 to 24 not adjusted for academy picks etc.

  28. And 3 cheers for Peter Bell as well. He's had a very positive influence on our recruitment and list management over the past few years.

  29. Me too. At the time we couldn't understand the booing of Hunter as the Dogs let him go, he was happy to stay with them. So why boo him doggies fans? A bit of pantomine. I'm very happy to see Baker having a good shot at the Dogs. he did well last night.

  30. Still makes me angry how we treated junior. (Good lord, if I heard anyone booing him I wouldn't have been able to help saying something.) Feels like a different club now.

  31. Ironic boos for sauce - coming after hunter got booed and only tge one time. I won't be booing Jackson. I don't boo players. And I don't feel any angst towards him anyway. But in the theatre of booing Jackson is fair game. Unlike sauce, fits the bill - high draft pick, big investment by the club, leaves after the club has helped him develop for big coin.

  32. It’s almost a “can’t lose” situation if Freo continue to be as poor as they have been to date. I agree Melbourne need quality over quantity at this stage, and they should have the assets to package up and get that very high draft pick. Throw into the mix Melbourne’s 2024 first rounder as another asset to trade. Gold Coast is the obvious trading partner if they finish bottom three. How many elite 18 year olds do they really need? They have plenty who were that on their list and it hasn’t worked for them yet so maybe they need to try something different. Hawthorn may also be tempted to accept quantity over quality. But if there is nobody willing to trade their top three pick, then Melbourne can get some quantity as a fall back. Like the Jefferson pick, they can also afford to take players who can be given 2-3 years’ development time instead of having the pressure of going for someone who needs to contribute from round 1 2024. Heaven forbid it happens, but if Pickett does leave then that would strengthen Melbourne’s trade and draft hand again. The money Melbourne wouldn’t pay Pickett could also be used to pay the salary of a more established player using some of those attractive draft picks in trade. Whatever happens, based on their past deeds I’m at least confident Lamb and Taylor will be able to make something advantageous to Melbourne of the situation. I’m sure they’re already working through all the likely scenarios and putting in the ground work with potential trading partners now.

  33. For me personally it’s that he met with Freo at the mid season bye. He was allowed to go home by the club during the bye and he met with Freo. Nice way to say thanks imo. That’s what [censored] me right off.

  36. I think it is realistic to be looking at a top 10 pick and a low 20's pick for Freo's 1st and 2nd round picks. Packaging that up with our 1st round (hopefully 18th) I think Tim and Jason could do something pretty special. We don't need quantity given where our list is at right now. We would certainly preference a single high quality player over taking all of those picks to the draft.

  37. Mr Squiggle Ladder Predictor with the autotip sim spat out pick 6 everytime. Just for good measure I manually tipped and they're good for 2W v Hawthorn and 1x West Coast and a few here or there. Will be above GCS, GWS and slightly ahead of North. In that cluster of Richmond, Port, middling teams with 8 wins. Even 10 wins would be a big turn around at this point. We're guaranteed 6-9 I think. And pick 3-5 if Freo can't win what they should AND GWS, GCS or North can somehow turn things around and win 5-7 games

  38. They're a feral bunch. The irony of relentlessly ferally booing a 30 yr old almost finished mediocre player who left, while cheering his replacement a 21 yr old, once in a generation player, who walked out on his club to go to them.

  40. They are booing a guy who came to them from another club, for a few years and then left, while at the same time, they are paying a young bloke they pinched from another club, a million a year, for atm very little return, in a move that has probably destabilised the club. Well done Dockers and your fans.
