  1. There must be two Spargos and two ANBs coz the ones I watched on Sunday were outstanding.

  2. I started watching it when I got home from banner. Pies were 5.4.34, Lions were 3.4.22. Lions have kicked 10 goals since I walked in the door. You're all welcome.

  3. There’s definitely some good football content in the Herald Sun but I can’t help having noticed on several occasions lately that the paper is starting to take on the look and feel of the old Melbourne Truth. There’s something about the way they run with their stories these days that’s grating - as if they fired the person who does the fact checking so that they shoot first, ask questions later and leave the reader wondering what the real story is all about.

  4. I’m not as worried as other people put it that way. The noise from South Australia in particular Port, to a few parties at this stage is fairly amusing rather than legitimate. Kozzy’s relationship with the boys and in particular Goody, has given the club confidence he’ll put pen to paper. As I said, the money isn’t an issue, and the length is flexible based on what Kozzy wants to do which is a good thing.

  5. I’m an Irish Catholic by birth and I hate West Coast more than I hate Glasgow Rangers. Supporters are absolute 1 eyed filth, who have been used to an armchair media ride and matters getting swept under the carpet since their inception. Any negative media is just thought to be the Victorian media making up stories

  6. Some people should be embarrassed with their cringeworthy posts in this thread and lack of footy knowledge In the first three games this year Kade is ranked elite in 6 different categories according to greg Stafford. Outstanding young man who has played brilliantly in a very difficult role as a small forward.

  7. *Jordon. No way Jordon is is relegated to sub after the way he played last week. He was superb. Outs will probably come from the sore/injured guys BBB, Hibbo and possibly Lever and they'll re-jig the midfield for Kozzie.

  8. From around the 0:57 mark there is some great behind the goals vision, showing how far Chandler ran to get on the end of the chain for his 3rd quarter goal. That play and his subsequent goal swung all the momentum back in our favour after Sydney got within a kick.

  10. Just so happy for him. Did his time. Never complained. Was always just so happy for his senior teammates. Improved his craft and now he’s flying. You just love to see that!

  13. Has become a lock in our best 22 imo. Just works so hard for the entire four quarters constantly pushing up the ground. Has become a real asset for the team.

  14. The most satifying thing about this is the fact we haven't lost at this ground since Round 1 2020. And we did something at that ground that WCE can never do, and that's win a premiership.

  15. So would I, DZ. But I’d hate it if the Pies were 4-0. #quandary

  16. "An important player got injured. I should be ALLOWED to replace them! (You may note I didn't scream and shout about this when our rival's important player got injured.)" "Our recruiters and list management got the balance wrong. We need another small forward/KPD/ruckman/whathaveyou. We should be ALLOWED to fix that and not live with the consequences of our actions." I WANT IT. I WANT IT. I WANT IT. IT'S NOT FAIR. The coaches' collective track record of making changes to the game is not inspiring. They don't know what's good for the game. They only know what's good for them, right now today. And that could change tomorrow. They are the last people who should be "contributing" to the rules of the game.

  18. Again with Judd out. You would have to be the only person on here surely? You been watching him play?

  19. Hibbo pulled up? Wow It’ll be Pickett for Brown. Petty will remain forward and I reckon Tomlinson will be sub. They will obviously not drop Rivers or Chandler and I’ll burn the joint down if JJ gets the chop.

  20. One of my "prouder" moments came off the back of that dog Lewis biting Todd Viney. On the return outing at Waverley I was sitting with the cheer squad and was just giving it to Lewis ALL day. I was loud & obnoxious (& I think I was even getting on the nerves of my fellow cheer squad members) UNTIL Lewis finally 'bit' back (pun intended) and shouted at me to "shut the f&*$ up". It's still the only time I have gotten a verbal reaction from a player, but the crowd erupted, I was elevated from annoying to legend, and the whole cheer squad gave it to him for the rest of the day. Ah, good times 🤣

  22. This. Hope his personal circumstances are okay, but I think we look elsewhere going forward unless Harmes magically turns it on at VFL level. He simply doesn't do the basics well enough, consistently enough and tries to be Petracca 2.0 too often. I'm actually looking forward to adding a top 10 midfielder into our group at the end of this year, will be refreshing. Thanks Freo!

  23. I feel sick saying this but I agree with Bevo on this. He gave his views on 360 on Monday night I think it was. He says the season is a war of atrition and there shouldn't be a way to correct holes in a teams list midway through it, even if those holes are caused by injury. The mid season draft can only do so much because a team is very unlikely to get a season changing player from it. So big no for me.

  24. There is ZERO chance Spargo and Nibbler won't be in the starting 22 (unless injured of course). I'm not having a shot at you, but i honestly don't get how any dees fan who is passionate enough about the club to post on Demonland, and therefore i assume watch us play regularly, could fail to understand how important Spargo and ANB are and how incredibly unlikely it is either will be dropped or made sub. Even if someone doesn't understand how important Spargo and ANB are, surely the fact that the last time either was dropped from the ones was 2020 should be enough evidence they are both absolutely best 22 locks and are going nowhere (maybe ANB was dropped once last year? If so, that is the only game he has missed in two and a bit seasons).

  27. Being derogatory to women and talking about young girls isn’t news? I couldn’t care less if he does coke. But given the league has worked so hard with the AFLW this is not a good look.

  29. Even if didn't get the goal or even a possession, it still would of been impressive because he was prepared to do hard gut running with 100% commitment even though there was only a possibility of a goal or possession

  33. I was making it more about the WCE supporters' response from the incident, the way they carried on about it was that Brayshaw deserved it. The way they cheered when it was replayed on the screen after it happened. The way they still talk about it on social media. It was despicable behaviour from the fans.

  34. Probs not a popular opinion, but I wouldn’t have crucified Gaff for that incident. Yes, Andy Brayshaw had to eat through a straw for months afterwards, and yes, there’s no place in the game for that. But this was totally uncharacteristic of Andrew Gaff. He wasn’t a grub of a player. He snapped. It happens. He got eight weeks for it. There’s no shortage of way worse offenders. PS I used to detest the Eagles. Now that Jayden’s with them, I can’t. Note I said he’s ‘with them’ and not ‘one of them’ coz he’ll ALWAYS be a demon to me. And no, I’m not crying, I’ve just got something in my eye.

  43. He (Bowey) may not have had many possessions, but I can't recall his opponent/s doing much. Which is a significant part of a defender's job. He's a ripper. I worry about Salem's future. Bowey and McVee may have overtaken him.

  45. T’was born in Toorak according to my original birth certificate but never dwelt there for long. After a spell in the Goulburn Valley returned to the big smoke to live in Port Melbourne. Which back then was not upwardly, demographically, orientated like today. The local primary school was a very tough gig, with a notorious bully and his offsider lurking in the playground. Being the new kid copped it of course, but memorably at great surprise to myself, squared matters in my first school fight. Aided by the courageous intervention of another classmate to even up the numbers. Later settled in Bentleigh which was to become part of Melbourne’s patchwork of suburban zones along with Prahran. Russell Colcott played with Bentleigh in the Federal league after his brief career at the Demons, joined Bob Johnson at Oakleigh in the VFA. Ross Brewer was at Bentleigh High School and later Brett Bailey at St Peter’s. Robert Flower was from the nearby adjoining suburb of Murrumbeena. There were probably some other local players who may have got on MFC supplementary lists? But don’t recall those now. The Bentleigh connection goes back much further than the VFL creation of zones, suburban and rural.* Hugh Dunbar the 1926 Premiership ruckman, famously celebrated the flag win with his teammates at his milkbar in Centre Rd Bentleigh. Which at the time except for the outer beach side suburbs would have probably been the end of the main suburban rail line. One assumes more than milk was on offer. *(Which proved to be a significant cause of inequality amongst the twelve league clubs over time. To perhaps paraphrase Sir Kenneth Luke VFL visionary ‘All zones are equal but some are more equal than others.’) Of course the Demons’ exile and return to premiership glory was of almost mythic rivalry to the Odyssey. So what is the MFC heartland?

  46. I'm sorry, DNIMD, but can we please stop rubbishing out two excellent forward flankers/pockets? Judging them on how many goals they kick is just old fashioned (although it's great when they do score majors). Nibbler, in particular, and Spargs cover almost as much ground as Lingers and the new winger. They are always helping out down back. If you are looking for a marginal forward to drop, cast your gaze to Melky. 34pc ToG but not a single tackle and 1 goal (after it was all over). Spargs 63pc ToG, 2 goals, 2 tackles. Nibbler, 73pc ToG, 2 tackles, 1 goal (and 308 metres gained!). There are other factors that I can't easily find (pressure acts, metres covered) or cannot be readily put into statistics, but the small forwards are there to pressure the opposition as well as score goals. I don't know how Nibbler became a whipping boy, but I wish it would stop. Besides, won't Kozzie come in more as a mid-fielder, pointing the dropping stick more at JJ?
