  1. This Package deserves discussion. This is such an incredible effort by our 2IC Jack was brutal and focused for 4 Quarters. It is relentless. AFL Players play like this for a Quarter and get praised and rightly so. Jack did it all night, even in the last Quarter This is one of the greatest efforts from 1 player in the History of the MFC I am so proud of him Thanks for this Edit Mighty

  3. He looks so happy at the Dees - I can’t see him leaving “Asked after Thursday night’s win over Brisbane — in which Brayshaw starred in with 29 disposals — whether he’d remain at the Demons next year, Brayshaw told CODE: “I bet you’d like to know. I’m conscious of not giving everyone the headline. But I love the club, I love my teammates. That’s something that will take care of itself.” https://apple.news/AJfX49D1MR7WLh5__yhVQEQ

  5. At a club function for the foundation heroes, before the game. I was fortunate enough to be there, seated at the same table as Brian and Terri-Ann Stynes, Brian gave a very emotional speech about Jimmy, ten years on from his passing away.

  7. Roaming Brian is an embarrassment. It’s like watching a drunk uncle work the room at a wedding he wasn’t invited to.

  8. Half time at SCG and as usual I am watching constipated footy being played. That ground is not suited to AFL footy.

  10. You can if you dont bomb it in. I actually think it also works just as well if not better with Gawn resting forward as the second tall. The 4 smalls meant ANB and Spargo could continue to play higher almost mainly wing/back half connectors and Pickett and Toby could play more mid to forward 50.

  11. I love it how everyone knows there should be no change but everyone loves to change things. The only best 22 player outside that side that could be available at any point soon is Gawn. Whilst his ankle may be better sooner than expected he was already carrying a dodgy back. We should be doing all we can to freshen him up until he is cherry ripe and champing at the bit for the rest of the run home and finals.

  12. Rewatched the game today, while packing house up for a move to the Ivory Coast. Sparrow stood out on 2nd viewing, would say he has reversed some recent poor form and had perhaps his best game to date. Closely watched Bowey again, did some good things and not desperate to drop him, but he doesn’t seem to be making the same space and time for himself that he was doing so well.

  16. The umpires should also be reprimanded for the Stewart incident, that they allowed play to continue (and a subsequent goal) is an out and out disgrace. Where is the duty of care? They should also be suspended

  17. Is apparent bravery a way to now get away with obvious front on contact? Happened numerous times against Frittata on Thursday and Tarrant just then got away with one.

  18. Somehow Richmond get to play an ‘away’ game today at their own home ground against a team with a publicly funded stadium 50 minutes away? Why is Chris Scott not whinging about this like he does every year about finals? This is why I hate Geelong. They constantly get it both ways, and complain about it only when it doesn’t suit them.

  20. And this - “Over this season, watching Jordon mature in the role to the point where he owns one half of the ground has been a pleasure to watch. He has built and built this season to the point where over the last six games, he has averaged 25.5 disposals. With so much attention going on the run and carry of Ed Langdon (and with it, the defensive efforts of opposition coaches), Jordon has put together an impressive run of games. Yet, hardly anyone speaks about him. He snagged two goals to go with his 24 touches in this game, and added four inside 50s as he was once again a valuable contributor. Suffice to say, if the Demons make the big one this year, he won’t be sitting on the bench hoping to be subbed on. This bloke now owns a wing just as much as Ed Langdon does.” Mr. Mongrel Punt is however convinced that Gus Brayshaw is gone from the Dees, so his assessments aren’t all good.

  22. I’ve seen all those Players too. But Jack took it too another level. All the players you mentioned have never trained to the level of todays players, and i mean no disrespect to them. It’s a different game now. Viney’s intensity did not drop off. Players from the 70’s were not able to do that

  24. Has to be four week. Prestia out this week and next week, elbow to the head. Was knocked out on the ground by an elbow after the ball went well by. Didn’t need to do anything. If the AFL is serious you have to rub him out for twice what he cost the guy playing the ball.

  25. To go from being pummeled and struggling to walk to laying a bone crunching tackle in the last says a lot about the guy. He makes Chuck Norris look like a pansy.

  29. I do love this alternate reality we are living in where, we are the well run club, littered with All Australians going for back-to-back flags and Essendon are a laughing stock. Long May it last

  30. Honestly, I respect him like I respect Brayshaw wearing a helmet. If you listened to his story. He almost became blind in both eyes from fingers in eyes on the footy field. And another one would make him blind. Wearing glasses means his able to play afl, despite all the flack that people who don't understand give him.

  31. It was great that we changed our forward set up to go smaller - and it worked a treat. I have always felt the lack of pace of the lions defence, and Daniel Rich in particular is exploitable kudos to Bailey Fritsch. We played through him a lot in more of a tall forward role than usual, and as a result he had to fly for a lot of marks against multiple opponents at times. It’s a strength of his that he competes so well in the air and is rarely out marked in either a one on one or in a pack. also very noticeable that our inside 50’s mostly avoided high balls to stationary tall forwards that are ripe for intercept marks. Unlike the 3rd quarter v Pies that nearly cost me a flatscreen!

  34. It's not over, but just a little excerpt from Geelong Big Footy: 'This game is enough evidence again that we aren’t getting close to the flag. Pressure goes up and the same players just s**t the bed again and again without fail. It’s in the clubs DNA, poo your pants footy.' A beautiful thing.

  36. It seems that MFCSS has mutated and there is now a strain called MFCVM (Melbourne Football Club Victim Mentality) which manifests itself by sooking about the umpires being against us, the AFL working to bring us down, the media having a vendetta against us and the MRP handing down decisions which are not in our favour. There is no chance of Tom Stewart receiving any less than two weeks for that hit.

  42. As I have said before, Hibbo is only noticed after he matches up with a big name player like Franklin, Martin or Cameron and renders them impotent. When he plays against lesser lights his efforts go under the radar because his work is usually just boringly efficient. The only decline I see is that his kicking skills are not as good as they once were but he has compensated in other ways.

  43. I was just about to type the exact same thing, but thought quoting you would suffice. But I want icing on the cake. I want us to win the flag, North to win a couple, Cats to go straight out of the finals with 2 losses, Tiges to finish ninth, and the Bombers get the Wooden Spoon.

  44. That has to be Jack’s best game after the GF. When he was demoted from the Captaincy I wondered how Jack would react. It would have been a tough time for him. But i have great respect for him. Max is the Captain and deservedly so Jack was a Magnificent Captain last night, when the side was under some growing pressure. The only way to dissipate that is to win strongly Jack was the man who led

  45. Wilson is brilliant IMHO. Do I always agree with her? No. Does she sometimes get it wrong? Yes. Who amongst us hasn't made mistakes? We're all keyboard heroes to some degree, including QD. Pointing out the errors of others whilst being reluctant to admit our own is par for the course online. She has been brilliant in holding the often nefarious VFL/AFL to account for decades. She used to get suck into Oakley and Vlad on a regular basis. And as for the morons in clubland . . . she's been superb. For example: the hypocrisy of the Swans whinging while benefitting from COLA, draft concessions and AFL handouts to recruit stars, the series of completely dysfunctional administrations at Linton Street over five decades, with a spectacular highlight (hard to pick one admittedly) being the duplicitousness fiasco involving Blight (thanks for all the headlines Minibus), she was the first to go after the Golden Child at Windy Hill before it became popular game fishing, she couldn't stand the Elliott cheating regime at Royal Parade, she chased down the Crows in 2018, called out the finger up-the-date debacle at Bunt Road for exactly what it was, she went ferreting after Meth Coke, and called out the sanctimoniousness at the Filth on a monthly basis. And finally, I would say this. If she is talking over Triple Chins, I am not surprised. She has been subjected to, and had to put up with, sexism, prejudice, misogyny, behind the hand sniggers, and white male 'right to entitlement' at all levels of the game for a long time. How she has survived it is amazing. She must be a strong person. She has had to interrupt to be heard over the egocentric, self-important, arrogant and attention seeking FWs for a long time. Wilson has played a huge part in paving the way for a greater role for women in the game. Her legacy is assured.
