The following pretty much sums up how this Premiership has impacted my life. Years ago I sat opposite an oncologist who had the grim job of saying those three words (and I don’t mean those three words that most women want to hear, ie, ‘I love you’ or ‘you’re not fat’). After delivering this shocking diagnosis (totally unexpected since no family history, no symptoms or lumps, just a routine mammogram) he gave me a tip. He said that when a person experiences a huge upheaval, be it good or bad, you should say it aloud. He insisted that hearing yourself saying it aloud helps your brain to process it quickly. So, the whole way home (45-minute drive) I repeated over and over, I have cancer, I have breast cancer, etc. Fast forward to the 25th of September 2021 and the same tip was applied: I said it aloud many times, Melbourne are Premiers, We won the Premiership, We won the Grand Final, etc. And herein is the difference: after two weeks or so of the breast cancer diagnosis I had fully come to terms with it. I had accepted it as real. Conversely, it’s been three months since the Premiership win and I STILL CAN’T BLOODY BELIEVE IT!!! WE ARE THE PREMIERS!!! ❤️💙❌❌❌❤️💙

Saw my GP (Demon man) today. Asked how I was; “never felt better since halfway thru third quarter” Knew what I meant.

I’m in charge of bringing the cheese platter for Christmas lunch today. My Richmond mad in laws are gonna love the Melbourne premiership cheese board I’m gonna bring to the occasion.

Here I am this morning at the McDonalds in Leopold waiting for a coffee on the road to the family. Just keeping a lid on it this Christmas. My partner said I look like a sad, sick kid trying to raise money for a children’s charity. It is a sickness of sorts. We won the flag! GO DEES!

Our household has spent the morning in quiet reflection, thankful for the appearance of the saviour, who gave so that we may live, and thereby has saved us all. From 57 years of misery. Unfortunately schisms have appeared over whether the saviour is Max, Tracc, or Goodwin. However I expect by Easter (the annual rebirth of the home and away season) that we will unite to declare holy war on the heretics (Collingwood, Essendon, etc).

I don’t expect Santa to bring me anything tonight. He already gave me (and all of us) THE best gift three months early, on the 25th of September. ❤️💙

A full three months have passed since that fateful evening on the other side of the continent when the Demons broke the long premiership drought in emphatic fashion. That night was the culmination of a period of many years of wondering about what things would be like if our team won the flag. What changes would it make to your life? I’d like to think it’s made me more humble but perhaps I’m wrong - when I’m in conversation with opposition fans these days, I must make unbearable company. How has winning the Premiership changed your life?

Merry Christmas to you and your family's. What a year on Demonland and as many have stated already our Christmas celebration has really come early and the celebrations long already. Would love this to become an annual tradition. I think that premiership cup had better watch out if there's any mistletoe around, I'd be all over it.

I am generally much happier about everyday life. The #1 item on my bucket list has finally been ticked off. The weight of countless years of disappointment accumulating were banished, and it has been filled with huge amounts of pride and adoration for my Dees. My Christmas present was delivered on September 25th. The happiest and proudest day of my life.

Santa came early for us. It’s been great and awful virtually hanging with you people for the past decade and a half. rp

Posting on a fan forum instead of hanging out with real people on Christmas day? pffft, I'm far too busy and popular to waste my time doing something like that...... Merry Christmas everyone. Nearly correct ... this time next week we will have three consecutive thrashings of the Poms - and this time at the 'G - to delight us even further than this commercial Xmas aborration and the sheer gleeful wonder of taking out the flag in the GF (and there is the very good chance the we will anihilate The Filth across the year.

These are the spoils of victory. They're not the only good things about being winners again, of course, but they're definitely on the list.

The stigma has been removed. No longer have to deal with pity and /or disdain when declaring I’m a Dees supporter. I will say its hard to stay humble when your team is so good though. Spent yesterday evening with my St Kilda supporting in-laws. The dynamic has changed. No longer equally hopeless. I couldn’t help being mean-spirited and petty. I know this makes me sound obnoxious but if St Kilda had won the flag I would have been on the receiving end without doubt. Like a lot of others I've had a pretty bad year and winning the flag has lifted my spirits in some of my darker moments. When I get down I throw on the replay and I can't help but smile as it goes on Merry Christmas to you all, I know we can be a bit testy at times but we are all united behind the Dees

Whenever I talk about football, I have to reach for another tissue. I doubt that will change until the first bounce in season 2022, because I’m certain to be quite emotional when our Flag is unfurled on 16 March.

Also my American Friend, who has followed the Demon's journey over the last few years and has watched a lot of our matches including Rd 23 through to the Grand Final live (at an ungodly hour), received the Premiers Beanie & Scarf that I sent. Took 22 days from shipping (was meant to be 5-8 days) after spending a week waiting to leave Oz and then 9 days in LA waiting to ship across the US. He got his before my sister who ordered hers on Grand Final night.

Totally forgiven. Except for the Tracc dribbler. Don’t switch channels after that goal. There isn’t a remote control anywhere in the world that can keep up with that pace!

I always have an MCC/MFC membership but this year I also have an MFC membership which also arrived today.

I was there earlier in the week and they were swamped by boxes of fresh stock, and were sending everything out Express Post, which is why so many of us have received Christmas Eve packages. Kinda made it worth the wait. Can confirm that the guernsey is sensational as is the New Balance t-shirt - finally some quality premiership apparel that will last longer than 1 wash.

I have a few South Africans working for me and the correct way of pronouncing his name in SA is "Fun Royen" Strange but it seems as if the Van becomes Fun.
