  1. Looking at the rules and regulations to get into Perth, and it says military personnel can get an exemption. In completely unrelated news, I've just joined the army!

  2. I remember in 2018 after both finals wins. I felt like the boys after the siren last week, just elated. After this win, I’m celebrating like Charlie Spargo does when he kicks a clutch goal. Clenched jaw, bit of a fist pump, high five a few of the boys, then get in place and switch back on. Loved that win, but definitely just feels like a waypoint. Job’s nowhere near done yet. Bring on next fortnight.

  3. ANB, I have been eating Crow and Humble Pie this year over you and last night fully choked on them. Great game last night, if not your best and in a final. Well done son, you are a valued member of the team and I was wrong to want you delisted.

  4. The front on hit to Gawn was appalling. No intent to even contest the ball, just wanted to break Gawns ribs. Should’ve been reported for that. Not in the spirit of the game at all. Mathieson is just a [censored] footballer and a [censored] bloke. What kind of arrogant piece of [censored] calls themselves the barometer or the beast, especially when they’re a fringe player who can barely get a game. Pathetic individual. Glad his serial ducking didn’t earn him more free kicks last night. He is the exact thing wrong with the sport. Cheating grub and a [censored] footballer who thinks he’s gods gift to the world. Hopefully he gets delisted and winds up stacking shelves. [censored].

  5. Anyone keen to chip in to get some Demonlander’s over here for the game? Quick plan, just throwing it out there: Book a private jet (preferably stealth), HALO jump from the jet into the Indian Ocean off Rottnest Island. I’ll have a rhib waiting. Land in the ocean, climb into the rhib then we’ll move under-darkness to a secret location near Optus Stadium. Extraction plan to come. It’s just an idea at this stage, feel free to spitball.

  6. Couldn’t watch because I’m on cricket tour in a quintessential Suffolk village where there’s only intermittent electricity, never mind wifi, but make no mistake, the web-fingered locals are now suitably educated in the storied history and present successes of the greatest team on God’s earth. All are now on board. Seriously, love you all.

  7. Firstly, each and every one of you Demonlanders out there give yourself the biggest pat on the back you've ever given yourself. You are the true fans and whether I know some well or not I've got so much respect for the people here who stuck fat for so long. It sounds silly but I'd really be struggling without this forum during these times and I'm really stoked to be sharing these moments with you. How proud, how proud I am of this club. When you've been down for so long it becomes more about the current group setting the culture and identity of the club. Getting the right people in helps a lot but at the end of the day it's the 22 that runs out there that gets it done. The last final we played in we got jumped from the start and we were not ready. Several trials and tribulations later we were back and despite some jitters early from some youngster which is totally understandable, we were ready to play footy on the big stage. That first quarter was close to the best quarter of all round footy this year. While we were vulnerable when the ball hit the deck I did wonder if Brisbane were going to be able to stay with us without getting a mark inside 50. By the way, Brisbane took 5 marks inside 50 for the night. On the flip side we had 15. In stats that matter we really did have all the answers. A 5 goal lead at half time didn't mean a massive deal for me, I still felt Brisbane would come and that we probably needed one or 2 more at the end of the second. I think if Brown kicks that first shot we roll on to another one after that and put it well out of reach. This is really the one blemish on the game for me, 13 goals 15 behinds, may sound harsh but it probably won't cut it in the next game or 2. I never ever worried about our back line, keeping Brisbane to 2 goals in a quarter is a good effort, what I felt we needed was that steadying goal. Even in the 4th quarter I was riding every bump and at 2 goals apiece I still felt the door was open. Enter Christian Petracca, I leaped pretty high out of the seat at that moment. Almost as high as after Maxy's winner last week. Clayton Oliver is playing lights out football. That man loves playing on Adelaide oval and when he charges forward with the footy you best get out of he way or learn to live with the boot marks in your neck that you see in the mirror getting ready for that important meeting. This was the best kicking display I've seen from Clarry. I really liked Harmes' game, he threw himself into 50-50 contests like each one was his last. Gus Brayshaw was a significant contributor, plays the defensive wing role perfectly now and never took his eye off the ball. Langdon on the other side, gee we'd struggle without this bloke. He gave us exactly what we needed, even without the ball he just helps us stretch oppositions over and over again. Jack Viney I thought started slow but then went on to have a typical Viney game where he chipped in and led by example. Alex Neal-Bullen your game was immense, up there with his West Coast game. Sparrow cracked in, Rivers very shakey early I thought battled back really well to have a solid game as did Bowey. Big Benny Brown provides the foil and works his opponent into the ground a fair bit by getting up and providing marking options at the wing which is handy. No longer do we ever get slaughtered in the air on the wings. May had no issue with Daniher. Daniher really had little impact, most his possessions were up high and he just couldnt get into it. Easy win for May there. Fritta, Kozzie, Bowey to hell with it the whole team played really well I thought. Well, almost. Joel Smith had a good effort to prevent Cameron from kicking another, but I just don't know if he quite offers enough in that back 6. Hibberd has to be strongly considered. T-Mac, I really hope the week off helps this guy. We need this man fit and firing! Spargypants, what a little gun. Works so damn hard, you just have to love him. I'm getting pretty tired, I'm just so happy. These are the times we were waiting for oh lordy. I love you all, enjoy the rest of your weekend peeps, bring on the prelim. Not even focused on who we're playing. Unfortunately no trip to Junction Oval training this time during the bye week to see the Ox and Neita go round. Maybe the club can live Zoom our training sessions? Haha. Ok that is well and truly enough from me. Gonna be bouncing off the walls for a while yet. GO DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Chris Fagan is all class. We as a club were extremely lucky with the amount of service he gave us under Danners as an assistant coach. Compared to Scott who is nothing but a sour and sore [censored] loser.

  9. I know it’s been mentioned but I really enjoyed Sparrow’s game. I thought he was tough and composed - he’s shown signs of not being quiet up to the pace of the game this year, but last night he looked the part. He’s directly competing with Jordon for a spot, in my mind he put his nose in front last night (obviously the MFC already thought he did). On Jordon, both last week and this week as the unused medical sub, he’s come out as stoked at the end as if he’d played every minute. I love seeing how invested everyone is, even if they’re not on the field at the time.

  10. Great game, loved watching it with my young son who is loving the start of his football watching life! On a few things people have said - 1) petty “fake” grabbed at his hamstring as he had just deliberately ran over the boundary - trying to con the umpire in case he paid deliberate. Watch him walk away smiling as he looked toward a teammate. 2) Tmac won’t get dropped. He was average in possessions, but he flew and competed. But the main reason is, how well did the forward line function as a unit with those who played last nigh? 28 shots on goal and plenty of pressure and great play as a UNIT. If he does exactly the same in our next 2 games, but the team wins and someone else kicked the goals, who cares.

  12. Rhys "Beast Mode" Mathieson was said to call himself the barometer. I guess that's compensation for playing the medi-sub seven games in a row. Surely he has to be one of if not the most over-hyped and useless players in the system. It's a shame to hear the commentators even give him a moment's chat. I'm tempted to say I'm glad he played against us, he wasn't damaging at all (from a football perspective). However, he had a tendency to lay the knees into backs, knock off heads with late contact, and bodyline Gawn with no intent for the ball. I look forward to the day he's delisted.

  14. They got this awfully wrong. Smith was standing next to Cameron before the siren went in the first quarter. A few have gotten sucked in by [censored] poor judgement from the commentators. Not only did they fail in this regard with delivering the right information but it made Salem look like he was copping a bath from Cameron when in fact he didn't play on him. Salem played a fine game.

  17. On a side note I think that in lieu of making use of the Guaranteed Grand Final ticket the club should allow all holders of such tickets to get a photo with the premiership cup at some point. But I'm getting ahead of myself ...

  18. The ridiculous argument some have offered that Stevic steps out of the way and there's minimal to no contact looks to be blown up by this angle.

  19. This is just absolute rot. Chris Fagan was continually asked about the disruption to the Lions losing McStay had. He said it did, they took a little while to adjust but he said it didn't cost them the game, we were just too good. And at the end he went out of his way to say what a good footy team we were. Compare that with Chris Scott's pratty presser last week where he thought Stanley beat Gawn and Geelong had the better of the game. Fagan is a terrific coach and person. Fagan wasn't making any excuses, just answering questions. Your comment is just off the mark, there wasn't an excuse to be had. And on that little twerp Mathieson. Not only should he be cited for charging Gawn he should go for wacking Pickett in the head. Nothing to commend with him, just an awful footballer and player.

  26. Why the face palm @TRIGON? To say Stevic should’ve moved out of Greene’s way is like saying the woman whose husband punched her for under-cooking his dinner, should’ve just not undercooked his dinner. Now you’ll probs think I’m over-dramatising the situation. I’m just making the point that the victim of someone’s sh***y decision to offend shouldn’t be considered the catalyst for the offence. Nor should the onus be on them to “avoid” it.

  27. I see Kane Cornes is saying "ask Matt Stevic what he thought because Stevic is a 400 game, 8 GF umpire". That's exactly why this should not be a factor - a 15 year old rising umpire is not Matt Stevic and players need to understand that respect must be shown. Greene cannot under any circumstances play again this year, it will be a total joke if he does, three weeks minimum penalty.

  28. Was reported before the game that Brisbane were 9 - 0 when Cameron kicks 4 or more goals in a game. Not any more.

  29. Did see this lol.. Wasn't happy alright, but I think once Goodwin explained to him why he was dragged he would easily been just as happy. And let's be honest, for Steven May to be on the bench in the company of Oliver, Petracca and Gawn for thr last 5 minutes speaks volume just how much he is extremely rated by the coaching staff.

  34. YOU BEAUTY! We are built to play finals footy and it showed tonight. Their midfield was on top early but Gawn wrestled control back from McInerney and from there we controlled play for most of the match. Had we kicked straight in the second and Brown nailed his third quarter miss we could by that stage have been 10 goals up. Fitness again coming to the fore I reckon. McStay's injury doesn't impact their ability to run the game out as the sub negates the lack of a rotation, but in the fourth quarter we had all the running. Our A-graders carried us but some of our lesser lights were stand outs. Langdon's first half was terrific, Rivers was rock solid, Sparrow might have played his best game in his career, and the much-maligned Brayshaw, Harmes and Viney all played great games I thought. We bullied a full strength dominant clearance midfield and held the highest scoring side in the comp to their second-lowest number of scoring shots and second-lowest score of the year. We kept the king of the fl*gs, Daniher, goalless for the first time this year. And we put up 93 points and 28 scoring shots when everyone says our scoring is our weakness. Now we get the week off, which is invaluable this year, we avoid Port Adelaide in Adelaide, and we set ourselves up for a shot at the big dance. Get the [censored] around us!

  36. Finished the H&A season with the most tackles inside 50 of any player. Pretty sure he also has the most 'first to reach a goalkicker to celebrate' stats of any player. Always gets there. This is a player who loves his teammates' successes. According to the Gus&Gawny podcast after the Geelong game, he was running in to celebrate before the kick had even gone through.

  37. I live in Perth and if we make it will be at the game as I have gf guarantee. We had flights and accommodation booked for Melbourne but alas not this year. I will be cheering very loudly…extra loud for all of you who cannot be there. I’m also hoping that potentially the AFL opens it to MFC members who do not have gf guarantee so our two daughters can come along. Go Dees! I’m feeling so proud today

  38. Many outstanding performances last night and I know a few have mentioned his name but I don’t think he’s getting the recognition he deserves. He was pivotal, 27 disposals at 78% efficiency, 6 marks 5 tackles, 6 inside 50s. He looks composed with footy in hand now. Great game from Nibbler

  39. Interesting as well that Norm Smith coached Barassi, who in turn coached Blight, who then coached Goodwin. It's as if Norm Smith passed his coaching ability down the line and it has finally returned home to Melbourne.

  41. Viney won 5 free kicks, and gave none away (next best was one 3, then all 2’s and 1’s). He was better than solid. Played his normal uncompromising inside game that demands oppo attention (for which he was rewarded) and makes life so much better for Tracc and Clarry. Didn’t overplay his role, was a perfect team-oriented effort. I reckon he’s reset from his 2 week holiday…..a blessing in disguise.

  42. So proud of this young team. Here we were, 5 goals up and 3 minutes to go still tackling so so strongly, crashing packs and giving Lions nothing. Not giving them a sniff. This is a team we should all be proud. Well done to a champion TEAM!

  43. I like to heap praise on Jack Viney, definitely a big game player. But I noticed tonight and last week, he gets rid iof the ball so much quicker, doesn't try to beat three players with his strength, and boy what a difference this has made to him and the team. It wouldn't surprise me that during his 2 match ban that a certain Mr Choco or Mr OOZE hasn't been getting into his ear big TIME

  45. That Geelong win last week is the best thing that could’ve happened to us. Just given us that extra added belief in everything we do. We’ll be hard to knock off now. We have our tail up, playing with confidence, buying in completely, healthy list, fresh list, and a hungry group of absolute quality.
