Which would've made $0.00 since mid March and possibly $0.00 until September. Meanwhile, the money from their sale can be used NOW to help save the club4 points

Did they? They scored 78 points and we held one of the premier FF to 0 goals, 0 behinds and 2 kicks and 2 handballs. We mainly got scored on rebounds and turnovers (unfortunately reminiscent of 2019). The forward line (and the lack of cohesion with the midfield) was the big worry for me, as that was a major issue last year and we made the same mistakes.4 points

For 2 years only @ $1.5mill per year. If that what it takes for the club to get some of the cash it needs, so be it. I can live with that.4 points

And Jonesy, I was hounded down before the season about him playing forward (concerns was his leg speed). We could be looking at a whole new forward structure which would be nice after last years nightmare.3 points

Temporary measures have a habit of becoming permanent. Nevertheless, I'd take the money and run, whether it becomes permanent or not. Would I rather not have it? All things being equal, yes. But the world has changed and the economics of professional sport have to change with it. Added comment: We also have to consider the alternatives. If the choice is between this type of jumper sponsorship being allowed or membership and entry fees being increased, I'll take the uglier jumper, thanks. Not because of my personal circumstance, but because any increase is likely to reduce match day attendances and total membership numbers.3 points

I thought that had been outlawed. These days you have to stick to your opinion, not consider other opinions and only talk to people with the same opinions (unless you want to fight).3 points

Of course we have a cash flow problem. Everything has stopped. this is not the year to perform badly though. Next year will be brutal in terms of cash, everyone will be needing it. we need to look good this year. We have to become a good investment or the Club will die2 points

He is not going to be squeezed out, don't pay any attention of the drivel from john ralph.2 points

I have also re read the first page etc. The comments in hind sight were a bit harsh perhaps. BUT. totally understandable if his earlier history at Gold Coast and that story of the culture there at that time is the only thing taken into account. And to be fair to the posters, he was not really a player that was scrutinised closely. So few games in too many years. His talent though was a given. But reading his comments from the latter part of 2019 and given that a stable relationship and parenthood have occurred. This does tend to put a persons thoughts and actions to a different level to that of a single play boy type. His training etc and dedication to getting his legs and body correct would, it seems, be a credit to him, his support base and the medical and conditioning people at MFC. Our recruiters or whoever organised this apparent coup deserve a "pat on the back". The 2019 picks may be the best ever. We may not get him into a game and so far has cost us little in financial sums. On the other hand I think we have gained so much by simply welcoming him and his family that the whole exercise has gained the MFC huge amounts of credibility with the Indigenous playing group. My head is spinning, thinking and hoping that we may see a winning game involving Harley and Kossy running around the forward line and Vanders clearing their way. the mind boggles ! Go Dees2 points

it would seem to be inevitable that this will happen once it comes in, it won't go away i'm not a huge fan personally, but - like others - if it helps survival then all the better the thing is, though, it'll help the rich get richer and the weak continue to survive i really wish the afl had gone down the full-socialist model of taking all revenues generated and splitting em equally between clubs, but the likes of hawthorn in particular worked hard to block that2 points

I don't see a problem with this if it will help clubs survive. Would you rather watch an advertisement play for the Demons or lovingly look at logoless jumper in a museum.2 points

Priorities: 1. MCG sized training ground with good surface. Another oval/space nearby for breakout groups. 2. Modern gym, pool to AFL standard. Preferably open indoor training space too. 3. Admin centre in same place as above two. ... ... ... ... 10. Social club/bar.2 points

I thought most of our defence were outstanding in round 1. Lever, May and O Mac were tremendous in keeping the dangerous duo of Kennedy and Darling to just 1 goal. Who ever were on Ryan and Sheed were the players that got flogged.2 points

My perception is that Fritch is a fair bit grittier than your average 'icing' type of player. We weren't exactly flying in the back half of last year when after being thrown forward in somewhat despiration, he kicked a number of big bags of goals and provided a good focal point.2 points

I don't see how it would add sponsorship value. Wouldn't it just become the "top tier" sponsorship with the other front of jumper sponsor being relegated to a second tier sponsor? Would sponsors be willing to pay more than they currently are for the jumper sponsorship for a larger logo? IE would Zurich pay us an extra million (?) a year for that and then we get another sponsor for the normal front of jumper logo at the rate previously paid by Zurich?1 point

Brown has to go. Jetta and Hibberd struggled and may be finished. Spargo was useless but good in pre-season games, Don't get the love for Smith. Not a footballer. Jones and Salem are certainties to come back in. Can't remember if Lockhart is worth persisting with. Probaby not as is Salem is back. Is the Weid up to it?1 point

Hnmm I see Bailey Fritsch as the sort of player that if nurtured Correctly( Sheeeeit haven't we had a great history there) Might just become our next Adem Yze , Brad Green type. And of course they grow on trees Not!!!! The other thing I have noticed about him is that NONCHALANT Rob Flower Yze effect of floating across a pack to take a mark. I would HATE to see him go..... a rare treasure in a pit in a somewhat empty trove!! KEEP !!1 point

Why? The AFL says we can't have 20 minute quarters because we need consistency across the season but then say they are considering increasing the interchange? I have seen no rationale offered for why they would increase the bench. It was originally floated when they were looking at a compressed season but now with a normal fixture going ahead (no mid week games) there is absolutely no reason for it The game is run by absolute buffoons, shorter quarters plus an increased interchange equals low scoring snoozefests1 point

Cannot agree, used to be the best of the tap beers. Selling CUB was the sin! Is 46deg here in Djibouti a.t.m. what I wouldn't give for a Coopers red label right now though. Is Furphy made by the same mob that put out that horrible Geelong bitter?1 point
