  1. Didn't think I'd ever come to the point in my life where the heath of another man's big toe would be the source of my happiness or discontent. And yet here I am.

  2. Where is Rod Grinter when you need him?

  3. They need what the AFL gave us - parachute in proper leadership. That's what turned us around, not picks.

  4. So many opinions on something so simple. He'll train on Saturday and if it gets sore he won't play, if it doesn't he will. It's not complicated.

  5. What a load of rubbish. Playing VFL or AFL would not make a difference on a flare up. The only reason to play VFL is to gather match fitness and he had clearly shown he didn’t need this.

  7. Plow is irrelevant what a toss bag of yesterday's jizz. Big deal that Lever changed clubs. Boo Hoo Adelaide. Not like every player on your list was born and bred there (Bryce Gibbs to name one...). Seriously, if they need to target Jake they will be looking the wrong way. The ball will be up the other end of the ground. Suck your own balls, plow.

  9. You blokes are quick on calling it Marvel. I only stopped calling it Telstra Dome a couple of weeks ago.

  10. I am sure Lever will be petrified seeing the frightening menaces that are Josh Jenkins and Tom Lynch coming for him before the siren. Oh but wait, maybe they will send Bryce Gibbs after him. Or Sam 'the hitman' Jacobs. Puh-lease.

  11. Bernie fit into this category as well. Have been question marks around his contribution to the team in recient years, which whilst his certainly not the player he once was, I think are a little unfair on him. Regardless of what their onfeild contribution is, I recon that guys like Hibbo, Max and Bernie are the heart and soul of a footy club that make it a game worth playing and trying your guts out for and that can not be under rated.

  12. Please Adelaide, please, invest as much effort and thought into a grudge against Lever as you possibly can. Also, please, Adelaide, be sure to give Terry Wallace a follow-up call and take in as much of his advice as your possibly can about all aspects of the game. I wonder how it affects things that Walker, the prime sulker who blew this all up pretty much on his own, won't be there. I wonder how many other players at Adelaide actually completely understand the whole thing and have no hard feelings at all, and are a bit embarrassed about the silly fuss?

  13. I'm going to repeat myself here, but why does Spargo need a rest? He's only played a month of AFL footy, has run out all the games he's played and had a positive impact. The FD might know better through the week with training and recovery, but as supporters I can't see how we can come to the conclusion that the bloke needs a rest.

  14. Seriously, it's just a [censored] toe. If it's going to stop him playing all the time, just cut the bloody thing off. I have a set of bolt cutters at my place and would be more than happy to do the job. What did Chopper say ?- "it makes a kind of popping sound when they come off".

  15. I think wisdom will prevail in the end and TMac will be rested even if he feels cherry ripe on Sunday morning. The fact that Cam Pedersen starred last week for Casey AND can fill in well in the ruck to give Max Gawn plenty of rest time during the game if required is a compelling reason why this should happen.

  16. Tom Mcdonald trained for half the time. He then did a lap of the oval probably as a test, then finished. Christian Petracca a little sore the end of training (a knock during boundary throw ins) Also did a lap to test, appeared to be moving well. The Casey players finished 25 minutes early. Those who stayed on the field and pushing for selection included Cam Pederson, Joel Smith, Harley Balic, Lachlan Filopovic, Jayden Hunt and I think Dom Tyson. Rehab group was Sam Wiedeman (who was moving well) and Dean kent. I thought Oscar Baker was training very well. Jeff Garlett, Tom Bugg and Sam Frost looking good. There.was plenty of talk and support for each other in the training. They appear to be working well as a group. Plenty of smiling and general enjoyment in tbe squad. The 7 on 7 match simulation was done with very little space. They did fast spreads and were strong at the contest. Jake Melksham was a ball magnet. Jack Viney running hard and getting to many contest. Bernie Vince the play maker, as was Jordan Lewis. Jake Lever vocal and reading the ball, taking marks and working hard when the ball hit the ground. The 3/4 field simulations saw the ball moving quickly through the corridors. James Harmes taking some beautiful high marks. Neville Jetta shrugging tackles and creating plenty of time for himself. He is very encouraging of Dion Johnstone who is looking very composed and powerful. Simon Goodwin very active, plenty of instructions and encouragement. During the goal kicking drills plenty of talk and feedback was given by the assistant coaches.

  21. So in our darkest hour a few seasons ago, the Blues triumphed over our pitiful effort and taunted us as having played bruise-free football. Our time came on Sunday as we enjoyed one of our most enjoyable wins, no tension what-so-ever. This pleasant Sunday afternoon was far worse than bruise free, it was Blues free.

  24. Yes atm we play ok at Marvel. But the MCG is our home. That should be our fortress. Carlton play 5 or 6 of their Home games at the G. Their Home ground is Marvel - send them back there.

  27. Great teams are ruthless. Sentiment is for losers. Garlett would still be in the team if he had chased like a maniac and put his head over the ball early in the year. Spargo has and continues to run out games as a first year player. Whilst we continue to reward the right team first behaviours and demote those that can't live up to them until they prove they can we will continue to improve.

  28. It’s the second time in a week that The Bostonian has been scratched. Had a shocking gate last week too. When the rail is out at Doomben it makes it even more difficult for those drawn wide. Still, keep an eye out for it. Dane Thunder similarly drew wide but usually not an issue at Sandown. That mail came from somebody very closely connected to the horse too. Yeah, Dafeenah comes via a very reliable source. Was $9 in this mornings (Brisbane) paper. Tongue tie on may be a key.

  32. I think the entire footy world has forgotten how good Adelaide are, despite missing a few best 22. Only 4 weeks ago they beat Sydney in Sydney with an even more depleted side than the one they're putting out Sunday. 80% of the media has gone for us which is incredible. Would be one of the great wins of recent years if we get it done this week.

  33. No, nothing wrong and he hardly urged them. Just thought they should... I hope they do focus on Lever, I've always found when this happens players can lose sight of the real objective. Winning a game of footy. I hope we don't get sucked into the BS and just go about our business.

  34. If the same test is applied to Carlton that was applied to us, then the Blues have no chance. We were denied on the basis that we had good prospects for improvement on our list that were either too young to have had an impact or were injured - such as Mitch Clark. The Blue are constantly raving about their quality young list and that it's just a matter of time... I don't think they can have it both ways.

  36. That photo, like so many of the stylish things that Sir Rod, the Grinter did on the field makes my eyes watery. I haven't felt like that since my dog died. It is just so touching how he would sacrifice himself for the MFC and the impending AFL Tribunal hearing every couple of weeks. What was truly amazing was the sheer artistry of his method - complete, fast and performed in multiples of engagements with smart-arse opponents who fancied their capabilities. What would we do with a Sir Rodney these days? He could really play football, that bloke, as well.

  37. I’m not huge on the punt but do get the odd bit of mail which is occasionally profitable. Tomorrow I have these: Doomben R2 - 11 Heavenly Thought Doomben R6 - 12 Schism Doomben R9 - 11 The Bostonian Sandown R2 - 13 Dane Thunder They are all worth a few $ each way and throwing in any multiples.
