  1. Its disappointing Hogan did not get up. It was expected he would last weekend. I never said Hogan was an absolute, just that the club was confident he would come up, that he was likely to play. For those who seem to be obsessed with what I write on this forum, knock yourselves out. Not everything I hear eventuates. I only write what I hear, you can choose to accept that it has come from within the club or you can call it BS. Frankly I could not give two hoots. I will continue to write what I am told when this is appropriate to be discussed on this forum. This is after all a rumor forum. This is what this site is about. My advise to those of you who choose to believe I am full of sh*t and seem to get upset by this:: Don't read my posts, problem solved. Surely you have far better things to do with your time than write endless posts on which snippets of news have eventuated and which have not and abuse an anonymous poster for giving gossip on a gossip forum???!?!? Are you people unemployed? If so I can see why! It is truly insane!

  2. Wow. Playing Adelaide at Adelaide Oval looks tough. I can't see many teams making that journey and coming away with the points this year.

  3. I mentioned in another thread, but I had the pleasure of meeting her this week at my workplace. She was here on a conference; I had one of our staff tell her that I was a massive Dees fan and wanted to meet her to which she kindly obliged. Happy to take a photo, sign a picture for my daughters and have a chat about the Dees. I urged her to keep pushing the commentary team for selection and she politely laughed when I said everyone was convinced BT has actually lost his mind and should be replaced by her. I'm so happy for my young daughters to have a role model like her to look up to. They are under no pressure whatsoever now to play for the Dees one day! And she had a terrific firm handshake. Good on ya Daisy, love your work!

  4. I was so pleased to see Umpire number 15 officiating at the Sydney game tonight. No bald headed buzzard to kill us on Monday! Yay! Is his name Nichols?

  5. Just read this on St Kilda big footy The way McCartin is going I would take Jack Watts every day of the week. My gut feel is in underage footy he was just bigger than everyone else which is why he looked so good. Now against adults he has no tricks and no footy smarts. Whoever chose him instead of Pettraca should be shot.

  6. Martin Flanagan has finished up at The Age. I really hope he continues his footy writing elsewhere, he has such a beautiful gift for making you feel like you're there witnessing the sights, sounds and smells of being at the footy. The power of the game, and its people, make me forget about everything else in the world

  9. essendrug have tried to deflect blame to virtually anybody except dank. it's obvious they don't want to push him too hard......i wonder why and the essendrug friendly media don't seem too inclined to put much heat on the keeper of skeletons and bottom drawers

  10. Demonland is not a "rumour forum". Rumours get discussed naturally, but that's not the entirety of what the forum is about.

  11. Garland, Lange added to coaching panel Congratulations to Col. It must be great to have a meaningful role at the Dees while recovering. Article doesn't say how long for. Not sure what it means for his playing career as he is contracted to end of 2018 and will turn 30 early next year. Whether he plays on or not, I'm delighted the club is helping him build career options for life after football whenever that may be. Another sign we are much more professional in developing our players on and off the field. Well done to the Club and Col. Have always loved Col and his love for the Dees.

  15. Fair dinkum unbelievable. There's really not much reason for me to read the Age any more these days. The sports section was just about the last thing left but without its better writers, Quayle, Connolly and Flanagan, all that's left is a couple of cricket journos and Caro who is not much chop on a number of levels IMO. RIP The Age

  16. May well be, but his first question may well be for Essendon to show what they actually gave him, the answer to that would be interesting, especially if a few key people end up under oath!

  17. We are really stuffed on that point. I have 3 kids who have never bought a newspaper and get all of their information from Google, FB and Buzzfeed. Now that those outlets are 'filtering' news content that they think you want to see or deleting information that they deem is 'hateful' or 'fake' etc we are entering a world where Orwell's novel 1984 will seem like a walk in the park. As far as 'informed populace' is concerned look no further than the UK elections where Corbyn has promised 'free' uni education. Voter registrations are up massively from younger people. Seems bribery always works. Not sure how 'informed' the people are....

  18. Salem is a best 22 player, fact. Lewis let the team down as well, should he have gone through the VFL? Sucks for Wagner if he is the one to make way, but Salem has played some good footy this year and we should be encouraging him to make amends out on the footy field. Don't know what to make of Spencer's inclusion. Can only imagine it's a back up in case Watts doesn't get up. I don't like the idea of Watts part-time rucking with a dodgy ankle.

  19. Seriously does not add one single thing to the coverage other than blocked-nose, Geelong-o-phile, over-exposure. Anyone who is enlightened by Ling, probably thinks the footy is round. Ling talks as much as Bruce and BT. Give me Jack Edwards or Bob Skilton or Doug Heywood over this guy. Too much quantity, and not enough quality. Waiting for Ross Lyon or Bevo to retire FCS.

  22. They took drugs meant for horses and they took drugs meant for treatment of multiple sclerosis. Very very fortunate to only go down for TB4. Dank was reckless beyond belief and EFC and AFL have just stood back and let him get away with it.

  23. Funnily enough I filled in an unsolicited questionnaire from them yesterday; all of their questions were to do with how they could add to my subscription experience. My answers were all to do with them improving their reporting and journalism whereas I get the distinct impression they were wanting to offer me free tickets to events. The marketing department have taken over the assylum from the looks of things. My final comment was "make a better paper and the rest doesn't matter!"

  24. SCG often produces rubbish games because its small size makes modern footy more compressed. But you have to love the way the Swannies targeted certain Doggies and mentally threw them off. Buddy is a freak, and I loved the way he intentionally led his player away when Reid was marking everything. Team goals are always the best. Every few years or so I end up a fan of an opposition player. Kennedy is a star. Tough, effective and inspiring. Doggies looked poor because of the Swannies pressure. Any team can beat anycteam by applying that manic pressure, like we did to Adelaide.

  25. And Rita Panhani (sorry if spelling is wrong). As Rita doesn't bow to the AFL due to not having an accreditation hanging over her head she seems to be able to cut through the crap and tell it how it is.

  28. While the ladder position is most important at the end of Round 23, with the Dogs losing last night, the winner of our game will end the round in either 6th or 7th position (6th if Brisbane can beat Freo, which is quite possible). The loser will be in 10th (but still just 1 game out of the 8). For us to be sitting in 6th after Round 12, and just 1 game and % outside the Top 4, I would've taken that at the start of the season.

  30. Anyone else tempted to attend the open training session tomorrow? Most likely will head down as all of a sudden we as a club have the opportunity to seize the moment, stand up and be counted , show the AFL world we are not just improvers and on the cusp, we are no longer waiting for teams to fall, we look at each other in the eyes and begin the climb as one. It's time this club made us BELIEVERS, not supporters of hope.

  31. Whilst I'm not a fan of all of Andrew Bolts Opinions. My respect for him grew enormously after he fought off those cowards in Lygon St. Antifa (anti-fascist) are actually the ones using violence these days. The lefties are the masked gangs crushing dissent. it's all part and parcel of the demise of the Age. There are swathes of people tired of their liberalised, stand for nothing,"isn't melbourne great",knit an orgasm ,latte sipping lushness.

  34. Refreshing to have a new face on the tv with good footy knowledge and speaks in a plain manner. One of the few to understand match coverage is about the game and not for promoting themself as a pathetic celebrity

  35. Was good in close, but kicking lacked penetration from recollection. Also didn't show a lot of pace in his age 18 year and was hit by injury post champs (which led to him missing a fair amount of footy in his first year at the Dockers I believe). Very good overhead and a very good decision maker in tight, but feel that he would be more of a depth addition than anything else.

  39. Stringer is so overrated. He can do some flashy things, but he is a chronic underperformer. If he played for the Dees some of my fellow Demonlanders would be very critical of me for the amount of times I was bagging him.

  40. True, but he is getting in position to score so thats a good sign. Hes had around 10 scoring shots the last two weeks (seven behinds and a few that fell short.) Would love him to slot a few vs the Filth, their supporters will wanna kill him cos hes just so annoying.

  41. Matthew Richardson goes under the radar. Lovely guy, but I doubt I've ever heard an insightful comment on radio or tv. Also, there are so many ordinary teams. The two tonight are ordinary. The top 4 are ordinary. The competition is very close and there is not one fantastic team.

  43. Pretty sure in Bugg's last game at Casey he kicked 5 goals and got 30+ possessions. Would take him ahead of JFK...but good on the kid for getting leather poisoning. Wish Kent would do the same.

  44. MFC site: "Simon Goodwin confirmed the big man would make his comeback for Casey against Collingwood at Casey Fields on Saturday." Is it feasible for Spencil to play the first quarter, or first half on Saturday and then back up two days later? Just askin'

  48. After articles yesterday outlining a 'low' contract offer to Schache, coupled with constant stories about huge money being thrown at him by Victorian clubs, he's just re-signed for two years with Fitzroy. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-06-08/lions-coup-josh-schache-signs-new-deal Whilst this isn't MFC news, I must say I am glad to see that the Lions may have started turning a corner with their list. There's no benefit to competition in having a basket case (previously the Melbourne Football Club) being pillaged every trade week.

  49. Congrats to him. He's a smart guy so hopefully he develops into a good coach. This likely means he'll retire as a player and move into coaching you'd think.

  50. I'd leave Tippett at Sydney, just so they have to pay him $900,000 again next year and not have any money to raid other clubs ( us included) Next they will be trying to offload Franklin, when his body doesn't last the 10year contract they gave him.
