  1. While I understand you were only kidding, no doubt there will be some peanut who sees this as an invitation to discuss him. It would be nice if Watts could go unmentioned in the odd thread.

  2. Clearly because they're intent on getting rid of Watts.

  3. He has been training like a bloke that thinks he is a walk up start. Lazy attitude . Ffs I explained this all days ago on the post match thread, was shot down, and here we are with clear proof of what I told you. He isn't working hard enough. If you went to the intra club match you would know the exact kpi's Mahoney is referring to. He was smashed in the one on one drills. He dropped basic marks when under no pressure. Jack thinks he has made it on the back of one decent season. He isn't even close and the FD are providing the reality check

  5. Thanks for sharing these two games guys. Fantastic to watch and not that different in many ways. Features of both games 29 years apart: Attack on the ball, inside and outside. Attack on their opponents. Pressure, pressure, pressure. Running in numbers and into space. Sensible and effective use of handball and short kicking. Other features of the North match: Great umpiring. Seeing Demetriou, Clarkson and Shaun Smith playing for North. Seeing the late Robbie, Jimmy and Sean playing that day. What great players and men! Seeing the dads of our current players, Todd, Steven Stretch, Shaun Smith-how time flies. Seeing some of the Demon names that I had forgotten playing in that match. How did Northey get such incredible value out of these good ordinary players? The game against North was still the most dominant 4 quarter performance that I have ever seen from Melbourne. A day to treasure and remember. I will always remember after returning from the game and seeing the jubilant look on my father's face when I walked into his hospital room in his final days, and sharing the highlights of the day. He had taken me to the footy every week from the age of 4 and they were the best days ever.

  7. Don't like it! this playing mind games Bulltish can end up going horribly wrong and lose a player like Watts momentum and confidence! Don't like this at all!!!! Rubbish non selection psycho babble footy speak KPI'S Bah, I had said before he trained beautifully the three times I saw him and he is a cut and a half above nearly all of our players! Watch this backfire spectacularly!

  12. Whilst Watts will only have himself to blame for getting himself in the situation he has (which the club continues to keep us in the dark with), the FD will only have themselves to blame if Watts starts the year off in poor fashion. They have handled this situation (publicly) very poorly.

  13. Good news from training is that both Tyson and Kent did nearly the whole session

  14. Dammit, we've been dreaming of this for years. Finally, a list where every player has to battle to get a game. A footy department that won't pick favourites "just because". And people are griping about it?

  16. Good article on Jake about his year out and the change of scenery to the Dees. http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/jake-melksham-reflects-on-his-yearlong-suspension-and-return-to-football-with-melbourne/news-story/87d7e87fe516329ca63cfa756db0adf6

  18. Mitch King, White and Frost doing boxing in rehab. Garlett doing boxing. No sign of Wagner nor Ben Kennedy. Lots of small group craft based drills and then even a period at the end that looked a bit free choice in terms of players pairing up and just working on specific things. Tyson practising his kicking to a lead with Weeds. Garland and Tom Mc working on left hand spoiling. Hogan and Tim Smith doing one on one body work in the goal square. There was a short period of the 3 team full ground match play. No real standouts. Watts trained fully, nothing really to note. If anything I'd say he looks a little thin and underdeveloped, certainly not carrying condition.

  19. Wishing a star player to fail and gloating over a preseason storm in a teacup are uniquely Demonland experiences Wise. Traits of MFCSS.

  20. Do you believe Jack - or perhaps he is lying? Maybe he always lies to you about being cool about not being selected and facing yet more public scrutiny? How do i establish the veracity of jack's reply?

  24. I'll be seriously concerned if he also misses the West Coast game. Surely they'll be doing all they can to have a 38 goal a year forward into the lineup in our crucial round 1 game against St Kilda...surely! I find it hard to accept that Weideman and VBD are going to get the nod ahead of him because they've trained better in January. One will get about 4 possessions having absolutely no influence and the other will turn the thing over every second time he gets the ball. Time for the club to be transparent and come clean as to why he's been (effectively) suspended from the first two JLT games.

  27. This is by far and away the biggest week in the Melbourne Football Club's women's history. We play Carlton on Saturday and simply must win to keep our premiership chances alive. Carlton like us, are sitting at 2-1 and in a short season where top of the ladder plays second for the premiership, this is do or die. The Melbourne Football Club are the founders of this great game and pioneers of women's football. It means a lot to us. We want to and deserve to win the first women's league premiership. The Melbourne Football Club drafted Daisy before there was even an AFWL. Prior to that she had won six league best and fairests playing for the Darebin Football Club. Daisy was in the bests for the dees in the first two weeks but was finally moved into the midfield last week and was a clear best afield in our third win against the pies. We want Daisy to win the best player of the league in the first year of women's football. It should be the Daisy Pearce medal going forwards. Do yourself a favour and support Daisy and the Dees this week http://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/2015-09-12/best-and-fairest-daisy-pearce-speech

  28. MFC lacking a back-of-jumper sponsor. The sudden scrapping of our clash strip. The club's vagueness re. Watts heightening the attention on Jack and the MFC. Join the dots. 'Thank you everyone for attending this press conference. We have some very exciting news, but first of all, we'd like to Skwosh the rumours once and for all . . .'

  30. Report Card - Pre Season - Jack Watts Jack has been a naughty boy. We all know Jack is very talented and we all expect a lot from him, he is not like the other boys that don't have Jack's abilities and talent. Jack can run fast in fact faster than almost everyone else at the club - but he doesn't. Jack jump and mark the ball - but doesn't. Jack can read the play - but has lapses. Jack is the best kick at the club - but he has lapses. Jack can compete for the ball - but doesn't Jack should be straight A+ but seems happy with B- We expect Jack to get A's in all areas, he can be a bad influence on the other boys who may tend to think that they can also take it easy. Until Jack lifts his intensity and applies similar effort to the other boys we will hold him back from playing with the others. This hurts us more than young Jack but ultimately it will be of benefit to us all. Yours sincerely, SG We have included a copy Jack Vineys report card as a reference. Report Card - Pre Season - Jack Viney Jack has been a wonderful.. We all know Jack is determined and has some skills but he is not like the other boys and always manages to get more from himself than any of us ever expected. Jack can tackle - better that anyone. Jack can bump - better than anyone. Jack is determined - more than anyone. Jack can compete for the ball - better than anyone. Jack always makes 2nd and 3rd efforts. Jack should be a B- but he is not happy unless he is A+ We expected Jack to get B in all areas, he is a wonderful influence on the other boys who fear his reaction if they do not give 100%. Jack Viney A+ Jack is now co-captain of the oldest football club in the world and is a credit to his family.

  34. Quite frankly, the football club be it staff or players, don't owe us an explanation for their internal kpi's on what Jack - or whoever for that matter needs to step up to the plate - for those getting a bit concerned about we're now leaking info and not keeping it internal - I actually think JM playing it with a straight bat give more creedence to keeping stuff in house. He'd be howled down by some for not keeping the information internal... so he is damned if he does, and damned if he doesn't... Jack may be upset, Jack may have been upset and now is getting on with it - his emotional state leading to certain behaviours is just wild speculation and fodder for a forum like this

  35. And there's still some that have a weird conspiracy theory. How about "unsatisfactory preseason training standards" ? Nah, that's too fat fetched. FMD.
    3 points
  36. Honestly I couldn't care less. It should be dealt with in-house, the media will speculate regardless. Watts is one of my favourite players, but if he isn't meeting standards then he should be left out. The advantage of our improved depth is that players that aren't performing will not get a game unlike previous years.

  42. In quite a few games last season, Bull played better then most if not all of the Melbourne listed forwards in the VFL. If he gets a go in the JLT games, or even plays well enough in the Casey pre season games, expect to see him getting his debut early in the season. For those that haven't met him, he is a super nice and respectful kinda guy, has worked his arse off to get where he is, and I think is more appreciative because of the hard work he has had to put into getting this opportunity. If any of the new recruits deserve senior games this season, it's definitely Bull (Even more then Keilty, who I am absolutely dieing for, hoping he gets a shot) He might not become a superstar, but he is definitely the most entertaining player outside the AFL I have ever watched. His ability to take marks that shouldn't be possible and his attack on the ball as well as anyone with the ball is great to watch. If he gets a go and stays in good form, he will become a favourite of the Melbourne supporters, gaurenteed.

  45. With six players on the bench and no rotation restrictions I don't see a need to rest players as much. Melbourne have never won a game at Casey, we need to actually play well there for once to generate some interest in the area.
