I think most on here actually believe that Trengove is an asset to the Club. He has shown resilience and dedication and is obviously held in high regard by the players. I think what many here do wonder is if he can reach the potential he showed in the first couple of years which is a fair debate.7 points

Good to hear that Trengove clocked up the most kilometers in Wednesday's training session. Another small step forward for Trenners!6 points

I always find this argument amusing. Just because they play AFL level football, doesn't mean they are banned from getting another job after they finish playing. If you are only good enough to be on a list for 3-4 years, why do you deserve "a lot to show for it"? A player strike is rhetoric. The public would hate them for it, knowing how much the salary cap is now.5 points

I've seen Pendles walking his stupid little white dog through the rough streets of Middle Park. His humble little shack overshadowing the neighbourhood. I often wonder how he can go on. Meanwhile at Auskick they beg, borrow and steal from the community to feed it back into the AFL system. Mark Jacksons comments"On the Couch" about Queensland footy are playing out in front of our eyes . but 2k a week for an honest tradesman is too much? Tradesmen don't ask for a cut after the house is sold for a massive profit. Luke Ball et al can go take a flying at a rolling donut.4 points

The players can go and get nicked. Fat chance I'm driving from Pakenham to Footscray in week 1 of the JLT just to see a bunch of overpaid over privalaged people sit on the grass while the umpire bounces the ball. If they're not happy they can always get a depressing 9-5er job paying 70k a year like the rest of society.4 points

Never would have guessed that was Pedo but for the number on his back. He looks like he's almost halved in size Clearly not mucking about in 2017. Good on him.4 points

After the last decade i wouldn't be advising any MFC players to strike for more cash they have already been overpaid3 points

It's not one or the other. Being able to cover the ground well requires elite condition and fitness, no matter the position. Sat-man thinks it's black and white. The fact of the matter is that Pedo was always carrying condition. It was as clear as day to see and he's probably realised/been told that he needed to work harder and drop weight and improve his ability to cover the ground. And more importantly for him, give himself the best chance to stay on the list going forward. Simple. Some blokes do the running that's required during their breaks, others do more. Some eat well enough, others are meticulous with their diet. There's an article on the AFL site atm about Hannebery and the fact that he hasn't touched grog in almost five months. That's not a club requirement. He has taken it upon himself to cut it out and he is in the best knick of his life.3 points

The aflpa are fwits. The ess* saga proved this. Strike? Go on. There are heaps of other players who would take your places in a heartbeat for nix. The 2 things that should be changed are rookie payments (should be reasonable instead of the 40k they were on last i checked) and removal of the minimum salary cap payments. Stuff paying someone 800k cos they were the worst team in the comps b+f even if they rate 600th overall in the afl3 points

Something about that Paul Marshall character that screams shitstirrer to me. The Players would benefit from looking for a less divisive figure to negotiate for them.3 points

Who cares if they strike for the pre-season practice matches? While the players deserve to be well paid, the AFL should never agree to a revenue sharing model. Revenue does not equal profit and most of the AFL’s revenue is generated by a handful of clubs. The AFL is already propping up half the clubs at the moment and such a model could potentially put clubs in danger of folding in the future. The AFLPA are being short term in there thinking and their demands will benefit the best players but could also result in job losses among their union.3 points

Goody was on SEN this morning and provided a timely reminder that this year is the first full preseason Trenners has been able to put in, in 2 years.3 points

I amended my post, probably after you replied, but what I added was that the player we picked up with pick 53, that we got in the deal for Tyson/Salem, was a kid called Hunt. We ended up with Tyson, Salem and Hunt, for 2, 20 and 72. A pretty handy day's work.3 points

They have a privacy policy outlining everything they can do with your data. If you're that concerned you can read it. Most of the time every app request access to everything because it takes away the issue later if they decide to add features. Calendar is literally just so they can sync the fixture to the phone's calendar so that’s pretty obvious. As of yet they haven’t sent a representative to any of my events. With the Location you can turn off the gps on you deceive (they can't turn it on remotely) meaning they will only be able to tell what cell tower you phone is connected to if you’re worried they are going to have you followed. Note about the camera and photos etc that just allows them to access them if they choose to add some kind of photo sharing or social media integration. Phone I think means they can make calls from the app as well and allows for optimisation when a call comes through (programmy stuff which means they can sense a call and prevent the app from crashing, a common in older applications before this practice became regular) Device and app history is really useful in debugging any issues. If the app crashes it will send a report to them so they can work to fix it. I can assure you this is very much needed! You try solving a problem if the only information you have is "It crashed" And contacts means the can add themselves directly from the app. again just conveniences. You don’t have to use the app the mobile site will do the job as well. Fun fact: The app (along with the AFL one) is made by Hawkeye. They have a enquires button in the link below if you want to contact and ask about it http://www.hawkeyeinnovations.co.uk/sports/afl3 points

Who wrote the MFC player bios? For the likes of Melksham and Hibberd the opening lines draw attention to their involvement in the Essendon supplement scandal. Understandably it's factual, but these two are here for a fresh start and it just doesn't seem right for our club to post this considering it occurred elsewhere. I've checked and no other club seems to do it and I presume neither player would like their new bios stating it. Likewise, the opening lines for some others are negative facts (e.g. Kent and Trengove regarding injury). Shouldn't a player's bio state the type of player they are with reference to their positive traits (on and off the field). Then lead into their achievements or alternatively challenges they've faced (like injury) and how they've been overcome? Rant over, sorry for my negativity, but I think the first two mentioned should be fixed.2 points

The fact the Filth got smashed isn't good. The fact that it was the Blues and Pies and not a game with either the Dogs or Us is a [censored] disgrace and testament to how pathetic and gutless the AFL are, not to mention how ridiculous the amount of conflict of interest exists in the corrupt cesspool know as AFL house2 points

Good luck to all involved in all games, congratulations to everyone on getting us to this point. I must say as I travel into the city on the train I still feel pretty annoyed that it's Carlton and Collingwood cutting the ribbon on the competition. Us and the doggies deserve better, at the very least we should've been playing each other in round one. Still i'm sure the ladies will do us proud. Go Dees!2 points

Gets the odd detail wrong. So would I if I was doing breakfast radio. But he's a fan, no doubt about it. He has the same mix of optimism and nervousness that the rest of us do!2 points

Most honest and interesting interview from a coach in a long time. Highly recommend you listen to it. The rap on Petracca is something. "some of the things he does...you just go wow!" Also I was heartened by this video from the club site: http://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/2017-02-01/training-day If there was any doubt about the stability of Petracca's knee then look at 29-40 seconds.2 points

The opportunities for AFL players to study or take work experience during their football careers are endless. If players want to spend their downtime away from the game playing on an XBox or drinking, good luck to them, but don't come crying to me that you have no future. The smart ones will take the opportunities to set themselves up for life, even if their football careers are relatively short. That said, the players deserve to be well compensated for their contributions to the game. Getting rid of the rookie list should be the first step, getting rid of the minimum salary cap should be the second.2 points

The players are paid enough. But to me, that is not the point. The institution/brand/adminstration of the game, the AFL, controls the vast percentage of money circulating through the game, and the profit derived from it. Any time a business or organisation prioritises time, energy and money for adminstration and maintenance over its core business (in this case the actual playing of football) then something has to be done to correct it. A player strike is not the answer here and just makes the players look like greedy fools. The AFL is putridly rich, yet local grounds across the country are in apalling condition, century old clubs are dying, and kids now look at a sporting smorgasbord of which footy is only one option. How about they put some more dollars to the communitg development of footy?2 points

It looks like GWS then traded 20 with 21 and 48 for 14 (Cam McCarthy) and 29 (Rory Lobb). They passed on 72. Both teams have done well out of it - such a strong draft2 points

On that note here is a fun one: https://myactivity.google.com/myactivity?product=29 If you are an android user just log into your google account and that will take you to every single time google has ever recorded your voice. (You may actually need your aluminium foil hat for this) You can also remove the filter and it will tell you everything you have done with that account. It knows what I watch on youtube and the songs i have listened to on spotify. And that on the 13th of November I said "Ok Google find me the nearest KFC".2 points

Yes, that's right. It's like saying in the Frost deal we ended up with ANB and Oscar. I really don't consider that part of the "real" deal. Picks past 40 are just steak knives really and don't form a key part of the deal. But I take your point. As I said I think we were big winners. One of the benefits of Tyson is that he was a known quantity compared to any draft pick. For a struggling club that degree of certainty was very valuable (together with the years of development he'd already had).2 points

That's not how it works though mate. 'Access' doesn't mean 'we are looking at what is on your phone and saving it' it means that the app has the ability to use those other apps on your phone. All access does is allow you to use different apps together, for example, the photos is so you can upload to the apps Photo Booth, and download the wallpapers, it uses the calendar so it can automatically input specific events into your phone, cal details is just the broad headline for the access to the ringtones, and the contacts is probably for a futures feature such as having your mates connected through the app. Theyre not after your information, people tend to freak out when they see the word access, but you really don't need too.2 points

Probably a bit of both, difference I note in Melbourne sessioms is more focus on footy and the physicality As for the Indigenous players and some of the silly comments on here, every Indigenous player on every list is there, they train whilst there, usually they have All Stars game at the end but not this year On Pedo, think the weight loss is deliberate, will ask him at next training in Melb, unless somebody gets chance in QLD, reckon they have new role for him, have not seen him do any ruck work at all at training2 points

I've got the old App. which has replaced itself with this new one. It appears different superficially however when I look up the player lists it still has Dunn, Matt Jones, Terlich and Lubumba. Nowhere near good enough!1 point
