Richmond's Noah Balta Arrested After Pub Altercation

Richmond defender Noah Balta has been arrested and charged with assault following an incident at a northern Victoria pub. The altercation comes at a difficult time for the Tigers, whose tumultuous season has been further marred by off-field drama.

Balta's run-in with the law follows an earlier confrontation this week involving his teammates at a Melbourne pub, who were spotted with Demon’s bad boy, Steven May, when a fight reportedly broke out. The off-field turbulence is a tough blow for Richmond, who struggled during season 2023, under first-year coach Adem Yze.

In a twist of fate, Yze, prior to taking the reins at Richmond, worked as an assistant coach at Melbourne, under current head coach Simon Goodwin. It's a connection that has drawn some attention in light of recent events, as sources close to the situation claim both Goodwin and May were seen at the Sorrento pub following the earlier incident involving both the Tigers and Demons superstars.

Melbourne Football Club has opted not to comment on the matter.

Reckon Yze might have a slander case to pursue here.

Sounds like there's nothing in this one, but if the club had the choice of Steven May being out at 2am and Steven May not being out at 2am, they'd arguably take the latter given his history.

A fit and injury free S May will have a massive say on whether we bounce back or remain stalled at the 12th to 14th part of the ladder.

Then again, while playing in the back pocket, you got sucked in by your man, forward pocket resting rover Mick Bone, by following him to your forward line, when he went kick chasing, thereby allowing you to mark a miskick and kick the winning goal for us in the 1964 GF.

So another article in the Sun 30 minutes ago, headlining May and Prestia, but stating they weren’t involved in any incident, well below the headline, in the middle of the article.

It does say a former high profile AFL player was involved though.

You do me a great injustice Red. I didn’t get sucked in by Boney, I was simply the inventor of what later became known as the “forward press”. Smithy hated the idea when I outlined it to him, and refused to use it. Given the late final quarter circumstances, I thought I’d show him the benefits of such a move. The rest is history. Well before my time I was.

Three players at a bar. There is a fight between some drunk. Players at bar + random bar fight = something happened.

Three conspiracy theorists walk into a bar.  You can't tell me that's just a coincidence.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
