@D4Life let’s get a beer or a coffee.  Great points. Its along with my thinking. We are not a basket case.  Just need some smart decisions

Happy to have a beer and discuss Demons any day. However am away next month. 👍

There will be plenty of positives but I can name two or three posters who won't have anything to add to this topic .

For mine, Windsor is the big positive !

For a draftee , a kid, to come in and play every game until stopped by injury is outstanding

A long term talent with pace and kicking skills is just what we needed.

Terrific pick up !!!!

Not much action on this thread tonight, I suspect

With Nibbler wanting out, That's close to half the side going

ANB, BBB, Smith, Gus, perhaps Billings, Hunter, Schache, possibly Tmac, Tomlinson, Fullarton, anyone else want a free pass to Go, Do not collect $200

They cannot all go but an extra ordinary amount of experience and games played, Have we got enough draft picks ?

It will be a brand new side !

Gawn for mine what we would be like without him.

Windsor is a star

Rivers and McVee improved dramatically.

One positive is that so many are positive in the Nibbler trade thread and wish him the best.

Here's a positive thought - remember what happened the year after the last time we didn't make finals? 😁

I spent 8 weeks in Greece and Italy. Had a ball.

Windsor is the most exciting player to walk into the club in a long time. He has bucked the trend of protecting skinny kids in the VFL and has had meaningful contributions for almost all of his games.

With the sad news of Nibblers trade request, I think that could be the final nail in the coffin for this dour game plan. Nibbler was relied upon to cover for everyone. Without his defensive running power we will need a proper rethink and change is what we need

Interesting take on where our game plan might be heading

Because this is a thread dedicated to positive vibes I will refrain from sharing my concerns about that

2024 light in the dark sky was Caleb Windsor by the length of the Flemington straight - can we please have a few more like him this off season

Windsor: Great

Van Royen: Did a lot of heavy work for a young bloke. Has ticker & ability

Kozzie : Maturing & class.

Turner : Good hands ,still learning

McVee ,Rivers : Class

Petty : recovered and becoming more confident in his body.

Chandler : Developing

What is there not to like about the Dees !!!

Windsor and Kolt
Petty's body coming good towards end of year

only a couple of wins out of the 8 with losing a starting Midfielder & 2 fringe players without being able to replace them before the season even started.  Then losing our best midfielder for half the year and our next best midfielder with the off season from hell.

emergence of a couple of fringe players - AMW, Howes, Turner

Rivers midfield emergence

Gawn remains quite comfortably the best ruckman in the comp

SENs Daniel Hoynes said last nights it’s been his best season in 6 years. He should be a lock for AA and become the best ruckman the game has ever seen. We are lucky to have this bloke. I just wish our other senior players could join him.

Hopefully he’s still got another 3-4 years in him.

2024

wow

positives …

️Max maintaining his place as the best ruck in the league

️ Jack Viney  -6th on tackles list   Another huge year (likely runner up again in B&F)

👏👏Fritsch 41 goals - not a defensive bone in his body, but he knows how to kick a goal

👏JVR still showing improvement as key forward 29 goals

👏ANB and Ed Langdon having good year with stats above average

👏Windsor & the Kolt look to be quality players for us going forward

👏 Judd McVee. Beat small forwards all year. Reliable and composed

👏 Rivers showed his intensity and early signs in midfield transition

👍🏻Howes debut and showing he’s a player

👍🏻Moniz-Wakefield debut and will be a player

👍🏻Melksham return from knee injury

👍🏻Turner showing form as a new forward

👍🏻Tmcd had a reasonable year with above average performance across all defender stats

ouch moments

💩💩js29

💩💩Gus10 medical retirement

💩oliver’s year below par

💩Trac’s serious injury

💩May’s injury

💩Grundy and JJ having very good year at Swans

💩McAdam Billings Fullerton adding very liitle as did Hunter & Schache in 24

💩losing 4 games by less than 5 points (aggregate lost 4 games by 10 points … 1,5,2,2 v other finals teams)

💩💩💩media pile on about toxic culture and players wanting to leave

Billings has another year on his contrac as does Fullarton.

TMac will sign on for 1 more I reckon, why wouldn't both parties want that after this year>

Known exists:

  1. Gus
  2. Smith
  3. ANB
  4. BBB
  5. Hunter
  6. Schache

Maybe exits

  1. Tomlinson - suspect he'll look elsewhere but will stay if insufficient interest?
  2. Sestan - has he shown enough to stay on the list, perhaps retained in a rookie spot?

Re-signings:

  1. AMW (to main list from rookie)
  2. Melksham +1 (not sure if we can rookie again or needs to move to main list?)
  3. TMac +1
  4. Hore +1
  5. K Brown
  6. Kentfield
  7. Verrall
  8. KFW (not sure if we can rookie again?)

Smith isnt a known exit just yet. The club may debate putting him on the rookie list on minimum coin - we still have no idea about his suspension etc.

I'd be pleased with that if fences can/have been mended

  • GAMEDAY: Geelong

It's Game Day, and reinforcements are finally arriving for the Demons—but will it be too little, too late? They're heading down the freeway to face a Cats side returning home to their fortress after two straight losses, desperate to reignite their own season. Can the Demons breathe new life into their campaign, or will it slip even further from their grasp?

  • PREVIEW: Geelong

"It's officially time for some alarm bells. I'm concerned about the lack of impact from their best players." This comment about one of the teams contesting this Friday night’s game came earlier in the week from a so-called expert radio commentator by the name of Kane Cornes. He wasn’t referring to the Melbourne Football Club but rather, this week’s home side, Geelong. The Cats are purring along with 1 win and 2 defeats and a percentage of 126.2 (courtesy of a big win at GMHBA Stadium in Round 1 vs Fremantle) which is one win more than Melbourne and double the percentage so I guess that, in the case of the Demons, its not just alarm bells, but distress signals. But don’t rely on me. Listen to Cornes who said this week about Melbourne:- “They can’t run. If you can’t run at speed and get out of the contest then you’re in trouble.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit.
Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

For a brief period of time in the early afternoon of yesterday, the Casey Demons occupied top place on the Smithy’s VFL table. This was only made possible by virtue of the fact that the team was the only one in this crazy competition to have played twice and it’s 1½ wins gave it an unassailable lead on the other 20 teams, some of who had yet to play a game.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

In my all-time nightmare game, the team is so ill-disciplined that it concedes its first two goals with the courtesy of not one, but two, fifty metre penalties while opening its own scoring with four behinds in a row and losing a talented youngster with good decision-making skills and a lethal left foot kick, subbed off in the first quarter with what looks like a bad knee injury.
