Optics = bad = gone

One day this boy will miss a Grand Final.  He should only get a week as impact is low. But really just unnecessary.

I take your point, Jaded. But do you think we could refrain from using the word boy? I am sure you mean it as young man, or lad, but it is a word that can offend indigenous people.

If this is anything other than careless, high, low impact, fine we should sue.

Seriously, we lost a player FOREVER to a bump with ten times the impact, more intent and incredibly severe consequences, (it knocked a player out through a helmet for two minutes FFS!) for NO suspension!

Also the media can get stuffed! Where’s the “football act” horseplop from last year?! Or the “love tap” bulltish from last week?! Maynard ends a guys career, “football act, can’t suspend for that”. Pendlebury tries some martial arts to the diaphragm “love tap”, Kozzie jumps on the spot to smother a handball and lightly brushed a guys cheek, “suspend him, coach discipline him he has issues!!”. [censored] this noise!

It was a free kick, but because the AFL needs to protect the head in the wake of the serious time it failed to protect the head six months ago it will be a fine, any more than that and the MFC should seriously consider legal action.

The “lightness” of it can be argued until we are blue in the face (and I’m pro lightness)…but when will this kid learn you can’t pull this [censored] anymore?

Seems to be a reoccurring theme in his game…the tough guy act in the AFL is finished - despite exceptions clearly applying.

I love aggression more than anyone, but these silly actions have to stop. He’s too important to us up forward.

See the side/fromt angle footage, Kozzy actually is trying to push him away after the smother with his hand. He just makes the contact in the early stages of that motion with his upper arm.

I think it shows enough intent to execute the smother as best as he could. There should be enough here to consider an alternative argument that this is genuinely a football act.

Looked like not much at real speed. Maybe a free if the ump was in a bad mood.

Looks much uglier in slo-mo... but then again most things do.

I'd say no case to answer, but it's the AFL so we may see him again in 2027.

He deserves 3 weeks for sheer stupidity.

How he hasn't learnt is beyond me and he either doesn't listen to the club or worse, the club didn't tell him to get that out of his game.

Players adapt quickly to new rules and I said weeks ago he would do this and get a lengthy suspension.

Kozzy is getting a reputation and a track record that is not good. Times have changed since Uncle Byron played. I suspect his on field behaviour is “in the blood” but his indiscretions are undisciplined and unnecessary. One day it may well cost the team and the Club dearly.

I don’t think he is a sniper (probably some bias in that) but it is clear he likes to play on the line and he isn’t fully in control of that. Not convinced he ever will be.

1 week. Will be a crucial loss for the Lions. If we lose a close game next week- then I’d say him being suspended has cost us potentially 2 wins. Would have loved him round 0

Left his elbow in unnecessarily. Does this way too often. He is developing a reputation.

If roles were reversed we'd all be calling for a suspension. He'll get and deserves 1 week.

He’s going to be punished. Question is whether it gets graded low or medium contact, the latter means a week.

I expect medium, whether the MRO relies on the “potential to cause injury” or not.

I still detest that an intentional strike can be a fine but a careless football act can be a week, but reality is this was avoidable and we know the AFL wants to stamp this stuff out post-Maynard.

I think the tribunal (channel 7) have already given him 2 weeks in the post game wrap up in the sheds.

Can we get Taylor Auerbach on to the case with the MRO team for a few sensual massages and tomahawk steaks before they meet and rub him out for two weeks?

They usually have dinner while they pretend to dilereberate. I'm sure there's scope here.

Maynard = 0 (and a complimentary premiership medal)

Kozzie = -2

To his benefit Koz is not looking at Soligo and had he not been airborne this would have been glancing contact and we would not be having this conversation.

The talk on Fox afterwards was extraordinary for its lack of awareness of what happened in last year's finals. Not a mention of that piece of garbage, BM.

While it is likely he is in strife I hold out hope for a fine given that Soligo was not remotely hurt and Koz's line of eyesight suggests no serious intent.

Getting really annoyed we’re having the same conversation time and time again with Kozzie.

Given they’ll likely grade the impact as medium, I hope the MRP classifies this as careless rather than intentional, and it’s 1 week rather than two.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie
