So you are suggesting that our round one forwardline will be:

JVR (backup ruck duties also), Fritsch, McAdam, Smith, Kozzie, Chandler, ANB.
That’s dynamic for sure, but our field kicking will need to improve markedly because only one maybe two of those players has a remote chance of taking a big contested mark.

Unfortunately the highlighted won't be in our round 1 side.

You are suggesting we have Petty and Melksham both on crutches in the goal square?

He’s kicked a goal in 80% of the matches he’s played.

He’s kicked multiple goals in 42% of the matches he’s played.

He’s a good target inside 50 with four or more marks taken in 62% of the matches he’s played.

He also applies defensive pressure in the forward 50 with three or more tackles laid in 60% of the matches he’s played. As a comparison, Pickett is at 61% for this stat.

Won’t be a world beater but a fairly handy addition to the forward line and worth a future 2nd in my view.

I think Petty may well be ready for round one but if he isn’t I think it will be:

One of Brown, Fullarton or Schache (back up Ruck), JVR, Smith, Fritsch, Chandler, ANB, and one of Laurie, Woey or Spargo

(I forgot Kozzie is suspended, or blanked it from my memory)

Who are you replacing? Do you really want to only have JVR as backup ruck and no true tall forward when he’s rucking?

Clearly we’re drafting McAdam to play, I don’t have a problem with us getting him, but he’s replacing someone in the forwardline I’ve just listed and the only options I see are Smith or Fritsch. I don’t think we will go small. I don’t know enough about him to know but is he an upgrade on those two? That’s my confusion.

I guess I was wondering whether a player decides he wants to move to Melbourne, picks a club (ie us) and then his management approaches us and says would you be interested in player x?

And averages about ~50% of games played per season in the last 4 years, or around ~30% this season.

It happens sometimes. Taylor Adams just did it and I think Jordan Lewis approached us in 2016. It doesn’t get to the trade request point without some reciprocal discussions though.

I stand corrected. Sounds like Hawks aren’t super keen on getting Gunston back despite a trade request.

Didn't he want a 2 year extension and only got an offer of 1 from the Hawks.

Then dished em for a longer offer from the Lions.

Now he wants to return again.  What the.

I wouldn't either!

Relax folks. 5 more days of this nonsense. Crows not agreeing straight away to appease fans after losing Doedee and gaining not much

Future 2nd is overs for an uncontacted 28 year old who has played 50 career games, played 7 games last year and is borderline best 22 for them.

I'm happy with the offer from us because it's a fair and reasonable offer.

Theyl trade will go through because it's more than fair and Adelaide's demands "we want a player" are unreasonable and also out of our control.

I’m guessing they’ll want Chandler, who they’ve chased before.

Their interest in Chandler was before they had Rachele, Rankine and Pedlar playing well.

We know who they want. They want Petty.

Sadly, this pursuit of McAdam has backfired spectacularly on us.

We got F3 for a younger Premiership player, who has played 3 times the amount of games.

F2 will get this done, they are just making us sweat because of Petty staying and we got 11.

It would happen sooner if they found someone they wanted from another club, otherwise it gets done by Wednesday.

How?

Because Petty’s going to spend the next 2 years (if he’s with us that long) attempting the toughest job in football (key forward for Melbourne) knowing he’d rather be sitting at CHB for the Crows making 7 figures next year then 800k after.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
