Apologies to Gawn, May, Brayshaw and ANB who all player vote worthy games. Even Roo is stiff, with 3 goals and some good ruck work.

6. Lever - for his superb final quarter which settled the game in our favour.

5. Melksham - contest after contest after contest.

4. Viney - I always favour the workers. Plus, he produced a masterclass in wearing tackles and still getting the ball moving.

3. Rivers - positive energy

2. Petracca - worked himself back into it

1. Langdon - acknowledgement for doing his job really well and being important when we were not doing so well as a team

Many others deserve respectful nods because we were frequently forced to play outside of our comfort zones and responded pretty well.

Really tough to choose, so many players had a mixture of good and bad moments.

6 Lever - the intercept king is back.

5 Rivers - strong and decisive.

4 Viney - usual warrior-like performance.

3 Sparrow - powerful in contests and showed good touches.

2 McVee - tidy and reads play superbly.

1 Melksham - has locked in his finals spot.

Honourable second-half mentions to Max, Petracca, Oliver, Brayshaw and ANB.

I’ll admit I’m not brilliant at separating players by one vote. But I thought our best were Melky, Lever, Rivers, Sparrow, Brayshaw and Viney.

I’ll also admit I am surprised by the inclusion of JVR, Gawn, Petracca, Oliver and McVee in other people’s votes.

No votes at all for Oliver and Trac. Both failed to make a contribution although Trac did exert himself in the last quarter.

6- Rivers

5- Lever

4- Melksham

3- Brayshaw

2- Gawn

1- JVR for his straight kicking 3 goals

apologies to Hunter, May and Langdon

average -,Bowey Sparrow, Mcvee, Tomlinson, Smith, ANB, Chandler

below average today - Kozzzy , Trac, Oliver, Salem

Laurie worked himself into the contest but might miss out next week

Schache only played a soft 25 minutes (he is as physical as a 12 year old schoolboy)

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
