Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Any team, anywhere, anytime

I feel the same right now Macca. Up to this point the team has gone 46W 1D 16L in the H & A since 2021, almost 75% which is damn good. 3W 2L in finals.

Our biggest loss in this period is 38 points including finals and we had a lead of almost 5 goals in that game.

No team is perfect but one thing we do have, is the ability to be in every game for long periods of time. We don't panic when we are behind, we stick to our method and believe. A great sign against the Tigers came in the last 30 seconds, 4 goals up and Chandler refuses to rest, sprints 20 meters and chases down a Tiger.

At the moment this team is showing me they will have a red hot crack at anyone in September.

Assuming that we finish 3rd or 4th. Do we want to play Brisbane away or Collingwood at the MCG? Of course getting up to second would be perfect and that's not out of the question. I would prefer Collingwood on the G. What do others think?

My preference is that the Dess just keep winning games don't care who we play where.

the season will sort itself out keep winning and you get the cup order doesn't matter if the team is good enough, which they are, and the whole Footy department is focused on that goal

CW have gone 39/25 in comparison so the Dees are going ok

I want to finish second and then humiliate port in our first final.

Next option is playing the pies.

There is no reason we can't finish second. If port drop a game especially at kardinia then our destiny is on our hands. Just beat Norf and win our last three games. Not impossible by any stretch.

The hawks won't be difficult. The blues will be tough and I think even though our record at the scg isn't great, the swans season will be over and Franklin won't be doing some send off game.

Deathriding might need to take a break for the next month.

Lions have Saints and Crows at the Gabbatoir - two likely wins - Pies at the 'G - (loss) - and the Shockers this week out west so we really need them to lose that to give us some insurance.

Port have Giants and Tigers at AO - not certainties but likely wins - the Cats at Taxpayer Park this week - probable loss - and, wait for it, the Shockers again out west.

We need to win all four as it now stands to be sure of overtaking the Lions (although three wins and a decent percentage boost would do the trick as well). Three wins might well enable us to overtake Port whose percentage is 15 points below ours, but again, the Shockers can be our Zurich if they can out point Port in the second last round.

Probably we finish second and face the Lions at the G since they look to have an easier run that Port and like us, much better percentage. That sets up Pies vs Port at the G so the AFL will want the bail laws relaxed to fill the joint.

In the eventuality where we don't finish 2nd, which I think is likely because I think we will lose to Carlton or Sydney there are two choices.

For me I think our best chance is finishing 4th and getting a crack at Collingwood in a QF, beat them there and stay in melbourne, if we lose we would wrap around the draw and have to go to brisbane in a Prelim which is less than ideal.

Otherwise, finish 3rd, try your luck against Brisbane in a QF up there and hope we aren't mentally scarred in a Semi and cop an in form Carlton.

Aim surely is don't lose any of our games, get percentage over North and Hawthorn and finish second.

Prefer Collingwood over Brisbane if we don’t finish top 2.

Brisbane don’t lose at the GABBA.

Except in finals - under Fagan they are 2-4 in Gabba finals.

To answer the OP, if I could pick any match up it'd likely be Port at the G - we get into 2nd, they slide to 3rd, their late-season form is trending the opposite way to ours. But we don't get to pick, all we can do is win and let the ladder play out.

Dees could be 2nd by this Sunday evening. Freo v Lions in Perth & Cats v Port at the cattery.

Our destiny is in our hands no others.

I 'd rather play Pies on the G than the Zorko Allstars at the Gabba. Port appear to be imploding so AO not as daunting now.

We're going to have to beat Collingwood at the MCG somewhere along the line in the finals to win the flag, and FWIW I think we're the only team that can do it.  I'd probably prefer it's early rather than late, I'm not sure I'm ready for a Melbourne vs Collingwood GF.

Preference is to finish 2nd and guarantee all finals in Melbourne.

Agree with the win anywhere, anytime mantra and if that eventuates, so be it, but I want us playing in Melbourne at the mighty MCG for the pure fact of letting the most MFC supporters be there in person.

How good would have it been to be there for all those finals along the way to the 2021 premiership, particularly the prelim against Geeeelong, which we need to replicate at the G against someone/anyone - I'm not asking for much!

I'd like to avoid playing Collingwood in any final because their scummy fan base would ruin the occasion. At the Sydney game last year I was on an aisle right next to two bays of their fans. They were good craic, a fair number who were members at Pennant Hills and had travelled down for the weekend. It would be nothing like this against the great unwashed.

I remember looking at some stats earlier in the year and the Lions are easier to beat in Aug-Sept timeframe due to the fact the humidity is much lower and the games are a lot less slippery up there. We absolutely killed them in round 23 last year.

Seriously it is us vs the Pies in the GF, no doubt, and the stress is going to effin kill me.

Yeah there's something about it that really gets my pulse racing, to the point where I don't know if I want it.

That Grand Final week would be really difficult. The highest high of elation in this sport for me would be beating them in a GF, the lowest of lows and pits of despair would be losing to them.

Playing them in a QF or a prelim would still be stressful but more preferable for reasons I can't explain. To each their own but give me Port or Bris in a Grand Final anytime over that. Just my thoughts.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
