Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

I was late to this news but I am strongly opposed to dropping Tomlinson for Petty. It just feels wrong. Tomlinson’s game against Collingwood was too good to warrant Petty being an automatic inclusion. The harsh result should have, as unfortunate as it may be, been imposed on Petty, not Tomlinson.

Jordon for Spargo the correct call in Oliver’s ongoing absence.

Tx TU, Was in top five last round for us imho.

Tomlinson out has all the hallmarks of being either a masterstroke or a disaster.

Goody suggested in his presser that it was a conditioning (fitness) issues following his infection and hospital stay.

I dunno about you, but I always play professional contact sport a week after a 5 day hospital stay on a drip.

Will danger be a late in ? Always a late cats change , he says he is good to go

Hopefully. I can give his ribs 2 minutes tops playing on Viney 😂

In all honesty, what medical professional would clear someone to play AFL a week after cracking a rib and deflating a lung? A witch doctor maybe.

Don't like dropping Tomlinson at all

Absolutely the wrong message. Play well get dropped cos we have favourites. [censored].

Play well and we play well = making the most of your opportunities and staying in.

Guessing he'll find a home elsewhere and play week in week out as he should

I can't find a link to it. It was on either first crack or AFL 360. He was making the point that TMac's injury coincided with demons drop in form.

Which is true, in of itself.

It wasn't the cause of our drop off but it was definitely one of several key factors.

From the website: https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/1362539/round-15-team-two-inclusions-for-cats-clash

Clayton Oliver, who has spent time on the sidelines in recent weeks, will not make a return for the Thursday match, with Richardson providing an update on the midfielder.

“Unfortunately, Clayton will miss tomorrow’s night match as he continues to rehab his hamstring,” Richardson said.

“Clayton was close to being available for selection, but we have decided to instead take a conservative approach. It’s very likely he will be fit and ready to go for our match next week.”

So based on Richo's comments, likely the time off legs has meant missed rehab time for the hammy.

Interesting selection and it looks like the coaching team are going to be working to a bit of a different Plan A with a different Plan B as well.

Bringing Petty back for this game will keep the Cats guessing exactly how we might use him. It is going to be a wet one from all BOM reports so I do not mind a smaller back 6 with Tomlinson being dropped. It is not ideal after his great performance last week but it looks to be a horses for courses selection and I would expect him to come in to balance the defence when required. He may even be a late in if there are any key positions players that do not come up.

Brown named as an Emergency a well as Spargo and Woewodin. looks like Spargo will get the nod as Sub.

Strong looking team with an interesting mix shown on the bench. I know that it is unlikely that the 18 named in the team will be the starting lineup... Petracca, Viney and Hunter at the first bounce???? ..... JVR and Petty on the bench can rotate into the forwards as required and Hibberd and Petty can rotate into defence as required. Jordon covers wing and inside mids.

Plenty of flexibility and I can see us playing a similar way to the way we played the Pies. Strong, driving drfence and smothering corridor defence giving the Cats no space inwhich to work. this will force them to kick long into their forward 50 on a wet night so that we can run it out of defence with our agile running backs.

Go Dees! a 20 point win coming up

A bit too cute at selections IMO.

Tomlinson flat out did not deserve to be dropped on any measure. Integrity of selection queries right there. If anything he should’ve been dropped when McKay beat him the week before.

Will be even more curious if Petty goes forward and we’re back to our previous issue of 1 key defender short which doesn’t allows May and Lever to flourish.

There was some training vision early in the week and Clarrie was feeling the back of his hammy. Suspect it's still NQR. Missing rehabilitation while in hospital would not have helped

Probably fair enough given we have another 10 day break after this. It’ll absolutely ensure he’s right to go.

Probably harms his AA chances though missing 4 games.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
