Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

His time on ground is substantial but even when TMac is not playing at Casey they have to give forward time to Joel Smith and Jefferson. My guess is that it's between 70 and 80%

70s is Low TOG for key position players.  So id say they are managing him and he may even have a week off at some stage

We beat the dogs in round one by 50 points.

Narrative - maybe the dogs are not contenders this year, asterix on that win.

Dogs get beaten the next week by the Saints, who at that point are tipped to finish bottom 3 by many, and certainly not considered the serious finals contender they are now.

Narrative - the dogs are struggling, are not a top 8 team, double asterix on the dees round win.

Round 3 the dogs beat now top of the table Lions, but at that point their round one drubbing by Port still has pundits questioning where they are at, their victory of the dees notwithstanding.

Narrative: the double asterix remains on the dees round one win

Cut to round 10 and the dogs smashes a team in the top 8, everyone's favorite bolter, the crows, for their 5th win on end, and cement their spot in the top 8 on the same number of wins as us (albeit with 30% less percentage - a massive number for two teams on equal wins). Pundits are starting to wake up to the fact that the dogs are a serious team.

Narrative - the double asterix remains on the dees round one win because it is too long ago for the media fishbowl to compute.

When we beat Sydney Round 3 and at that time they were at full strength and considered contenders

And yet at the time were 2-0 and still playing with a full squad AND many pundits had top 4.. They mention we may have got the Dogs at a good time, but fail to mention we go the Swans at a bad time (for us) and ran the game out 50 pts winners... didnt fit the narrative = doesnt get mentioned.

The pundits were saying the Dogs' 4 pronged tall attack would rip us to shreds.

Yep. in fact, that win is probably a better example than the dogs win for the point i'm trying to make.

The Swans game is swept up the narrative that the dees haven't beaten anyone, eg 'who have the dees beaten - the dogs, who were poor, the swans who are big sliders, the tigers who are 14th, the underachieving Suns and competition easy beats, the Hawks, Roos and Eagles' blah blah blah.

When in reality, the Swans and Dogs wins were both impressive and the Tiger's and the Suns brought serious pressure and heat, played super well and our performance in those games was also very impressive. Even the Hawks and Eagles brought heat.

That's not really what David King means though. We backed our players to get the job done.

As I've said elsewhere, Butters had 8 possessions in the last quarter, 4 of them were ineffective. We led at the 3/4 time break by effectively 2 goals, after playing 1 quarter.

It's this sort of over simplistic analysis that is the very reason many find King to be a nuff nuff.

Really.  A game is 120 Minutes and Butters damage in the first 3 quarters meant he could put the cue away a bit. He prevented us prospering further as did his mate Rozee.

Who drove the Power to grab a sizeable lead in the second 1/4.  ?

It IS a simple game as Alan Jeans remarked.  I guess he knew what he was talking about?

King's quote, and not original, emanated from NBA coach Brett Brown's theory.  Probably where Kingy pinched it from.

Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir reckons he has the best ruck combination in the AFL with Fremantle sitting No.1 in both hitouts (52 per game) and hitouts to advantage (15 per game) this season

I am hopeful Max and Grundy read his comments. All duck no dinner!

The first three quarters are irrelevant given we were ahead at three quarter time...

Well, I'd like to think they have plenty of motivation to perform well without this prod but I do hope it stings them a little bit

Great chance to make a statement - I haven't forgotten last years performance vs Flogmantle love the tables to be turned.

He makes pretty good case to be honest (noting that Maxy missed three games, so those numbers are a little misleading).

Darcy is a fantastic ruck.

Find it hard to see us winning this game. No Oliver and tall forwards that cannot get a kick in  football factory. It grieves me to say it but the guy who went home to mum has started to show some ability. He will be busting to play well against us. The last two weeks we have been carrying Chandler and Spargo needs to fire up he did little last week of note. At present I just see too many players playing well below their best.

Its tempting to roll out the old cliche but to treat this gane with anything shy of trepidation may result in gross disappointment.

Going back to this notion of trust...   Im sorry,  ive very little trust in out brand.   Blokes yes, game... no.

Can we win ....yes

Could we lose.... yes...

Lose this and its a very slippery slope.... and we'll have little adhesion.

Tomorrow morning in Fed Square a group of us DA members will be packing parcels of dry goods to be sent to disaster zones, namely Ukraine, Syria and Turkey. The aim is to have 100,000 boxes packed in one day. This has nothing to do with footy; the organisers contacted Sophie, one of our leaders, because it’s well known in ‘charity circles’ that when it comes to volunteering the DA will always help. This is not an indulgent trumpet-blowing sesh, just wanted y’all to know that you happen to barrack for a team whose cheer squad is THE BEST. Okay, a little bit of trumpet blowing there. 🤭

Yep, sure enough, he's been given our game again this week.

Maybe he will award Tmac extra frees this week to say sorry.... yeah right!

I do wonder what happened to our 3 tall backs setup that seemed to dominate. Petty forward has impacted Lever’s role in my opinion. Maybe Disco should be in. (Even Tommo.). No idea who would come out.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
