I believe he’s finished already. Pounded himself to into the ground, can’t play in the midfield anymore and barely rates as a 5th forward. I hope Oliver doesn’t end up like him.

If he's chasing a premiership and he's willing play for very little money to get to a contender.
Sure!

He's a conundrum is Nat Fyfe. He's not the sort of guy a young team should bring in to mentor their young players like a Gold Coast or Hawthorn as he's not the greatest leader from all reports and os quite self focused. And on the other hand he's not a great finishing piece for a contender as he can only play midfield and his best days there are behind him.

I can see him staying at Freo due to lack of other interest.

I don't think Fyfe is a good enough kick to compliment our midfield including Oliver, Petracca, Viney and Langdon (which already provides us great grunt and breakaway capability but are not the most effective kicking). And he has proven to be an ineffective forward in the back end of his career.

That said, you might take him on a very low salary but there would probably be better suiters for him (i.e. Geelong, Collingwood or Port)

He was a brilliant player but he’s cooked now. He’s a shell of the superstar from last decade. His body can’t handle the sport anymore. Pass.

Let's be blunt. His shoulders and back are wrecked from carrying Freo's hopes and dreams for a decade.

I hope he can make the hard choice to let go of 2023 and get his body right, then come back and play out a couple more years of good football.

But it is hard to see how the risk could be worth it for a new club taking him at this point.

Most freo fans don't like Fyfe. What does that tell you!?

Reported this morning that he is in contract talks with Freo.

Freo letting their captain, 2 X brownlow medalist walk would be a crime far greater than what we did to Junior.

It would take a long time for their culture to recover from letting Fyfe go.

The time for us to get Nat Fyfe was at the 2009 AFL National Draft where we had 4 selections ahead of where he was picked up by the Dockers (#20).

We went with -

1. Tom Scully
2. Jack Trengove
11. Jordan Gysberts
18. Luke Tapscott

There are plenty of regrets about what we missed out on but really, if we didn’t get Fyfe when he was a fit and healthy 18 year old with a brilliant career ahead of him, why would we take him as a broken down man with limited time left in his career at 32?

I honestly don't know if we could fit him into our 23.  A shadow of the player he was.  Too banged up, too old.  There is no way our FD will even bring up the discussion internally.

To be fair, Scully and Trengove were, at that time, universally considered to be first and second choices.

As for Gysberts and Tapscott, and in many respects for Scully and Trengove, could it be that the player management and development at the time was inept?

We have improved. Phew.

I tend to disagree.  Our FD, with the philosopy of a squad rather than individual players, should consider every player whose name comes up, even if only to dismiss them in 5 seconds.

I consider Fyfe to be cooked but if any club can get players back on the track it is the MFC, just ask BBB.

His manager said 'multiple clubs had expressed interest'.

That is a lie.

This thread is funny

It depends which league. I know Dromana lacks a mid-fielder who can float forward. And the club serves some of the better egg and bacon rolls in the MPFL

It was a tough choice. Who was most likely?

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc.
