Surely Grundy on the move? Another second rounder to add to the deck.

Grundy will 100% be seeking a trade. The Sydney recruiter said they’d have a look if he was available. Expect Geelong and Port will also be interested.

Bit odd.

I guess you have to be in the know tech wise and be a bit of a Seinfeld fan to get that one Bubs.

To clarify....

You and/or Red mentioned issues with uploading photos in terms of them being rejected as the file size was 'too big'

The solution is 'shrinking' the file size so that it will be accepted by the DL server.

The Seinfeld GIF is a famous one and refers to George having just gotten out of a pool and a young lady having walked in on him as he was changing

I'll let you make the connection!

I must confess ...aa an I.t. Engineer in a past life im fairly familiar with this stuff.

The Gif fikes by there nature are condensed.  I had tried  reducing their size ( graphically...and knock on...file size )

Made no difference.   The inference witg the error was to do with available space...

Somewhere there are permissions... for some theyre constraints... accidental or otherwise.

If Grundy leaves (and I doubt it), who is our next in line ruck if Max goes down?

Anyone?...

Anyone?

Grundy is not going to hang around to play in the VFL in case Max gets injured.

No, but if we trade him, who's next? We need to be creative with support for Max, or it'll be JVR, Petty or (good God no!) BBB sacrificed as fill in ruck. Our development rucks at Casey are like baby giraffes!

Who do we target?

Exactly right, bloody no-one.

Might be able to fast track Verral & start blooding him slowly from about mid way through next season.

They will just recruit one, Max has 2 years left.  There are plenty of young rucks playing in the 2’s who would develop under Max

If you were in the Demonland Pub and loudly asked that question, you would be yelling ‘Anyone?’ over about 15 people telling you ‘we would go and get someone to backup Gawn who is less expensive and more comfortable playing less and/or playing more forward’

So meek posturing aside - if Grundy wants to go we will facilitate and that recalibration may make us a better team.

Am I the only one that thinks Grundy should be the #1 ruck with Max the extra tall in the forward line?

Have Max and Grundy rotating with each other 70/30split. Max stays fresh, Brodie gets his ruck spot. Simples.

Correct. It would also be poor budget management from us to spend over $600k on a backup ruckman who plays VFL. The Gawn and Grundy partnership doesn’t appear to be working, and it’s best for both Grundy and the Dees if he’s traded elsewhere now unfortunately. We can spend far less on a backup for Max until we have a proper successor.

Parish yet to re-sign and bombers waiving the white flag again.

Not suggesting we get him but if he leaves that's a potential first round compensation pick that will further dilute the draft pool.

Nope, those are my thoughts a well.

I was told in early July, from an insider, that Grundy will be at the Sydney Swans next year, in a 2-3 club mega deal.
Of course things can change, but that was the planning as of then.

very interesting to see what happens. I still think we may use Brodie in September….

Great idea but you are trying to reinvent what has basically failed. The greatest modern ruckman deserves to play where he is best for the team ie the RUCK. Only cameos up forward and also down back. JVR has done ok in the ruck and our team balance  is best that way.

it's unfortunate but we can't select a team for individuals. We are in the business of winning premierships and that is not negotiable.

You and others will no doubt be unhappy if we don't do the team thing and allow Maxy to continue his great form which has resulted in 5 wins out of 6.

Will Verrall, pick 14 2022, shows promising potential.

I trust Jason Taylor in finding a ruckman to replace/assist Max.

This was the original plan I believe. But the problem is that Gawn has no forward craft and is not a good converter.
A lot of skeptics felt the combo wouldn’t work and to Goody’s credit, he swallowed his pride and abandoned it as soon as he realized it was a bust.

Gawn will play for 2-3 more years which is way too long for Grundy to wait. Grundy will seek a trade and we’ll oblige. Maybe a second round pick comes our way. It happens. No hard feelings and move on IMO.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
