If Fritsch is back for finals, can we go with a Fwd line of JVR,.Fritta, Trac, ANB, Chandel and Kozzy?

Joel Smith to FF & Tomlinson to play Backline is a must…

I would be tempted to try Tomlinson forward at some point next week too change up with Smith. Just need to compete hard and bring the ball to ground not allowing defenders to mark the ball. Our smalls and mids will kick our goals.

He was a great mark but Choco would have to be a miracle worker to improve his kicking.

What about Melksham? Seems too small anyway.

Disappointing news.

But Tom McDonald should be almost ready to return?

Then there's Josh Schache.

Or Ben Brown?

Otherwise, Brodie Grundy?

Either way, there are other forward options.

T Mac will be ready I believe. I read last week T Mac was aiming to play VFL next week.

If we're relying on Tmac come finals off the back of another foot surgery lay-off then you genuinely know we're completely bare to the bone with key forwards.

He simply should not be in contention. His body is completely shot as is his ankles. Can barely turn and when the ball hits the ground he's very similar to Ben Brown where their defensive efforts are non existent.

Also recon he played a part in the Gary missed the bus Sidebottom affair.

Petty is almost irreplaceable with his recent form. We just can’t go back to BBB or Tmac.

What are the chances of this being just a sprained ankle?

One player a team does not make.

We have 3 games to adjust our forward line.

Petracca has been great up forward, Kozzy is getting to work and Viney is carrying the weight of the midfield on his shoulders and doing a fantastic job.

Maxy is back in form and Clarry is said to be a week away.

It's unfortunate Petty is out but we are 2nd on the ladder and we had to do this at times without Gawn, Oliver and Fritter. There's no reason we can't manage without Petty.

There are more upsides than there are downsides at the moment.

Pointless post.

What options do you suggest who haven't recently failed? BBB and T Mac are cooked. Grundy has never been a capable forward, and Smith is unproven.

Petty and JVR are the only 2 key forwards who have looked like taking a contested mark, in addition to being mobile. Petty is not replaceable.

'Cooked' is a tediously overused term. Suggest it be put in the fridge.

Goodwin said it’s a mid foot injury. Not ankle?

He's ready to play but imv would need at least a week or two at Casey to gain match fitness and form before being seriously considered.

Earliest would be Rnd 23 but more realistically the final round vs the Swans IF he can get his match fitness / form at Casey to a level that warrants a call up.

Tom McLazarus!!??

That’s the area he was holding on bench. Not that I would know but it appeared to be a bending of his foot not and ankle.

We will know soon enough.

Agreed Layzie. There's some Pollyanna posting permeating at present about Petty's present predicament.

Our forward line was in dire straights and even Kozzie lifted in his presence.  Finally found a solution and poof he's gone.

Yeah  let's go with finished or retirement

I think a combination of Smith, Brown and Tmac will get us through till Fritta is back. BB’s knee only allows him to play one game before it blows up. TMAC will be an option once he has some VFL form. Joel smith is good, but more of a third tall, not strong enough in the contest.

This isn't the end of the season everyone. Petty has had a good couple of games forward but I could list close 10 players that would put a line through us if out for several weeks

It's very disappointing but Collingwood and Port are losing and have worse injuries than us, and Brisbane aren't in red hot form either. "Season over" catatrophisers take a deep breath

Your commitment to negativity in all six posts on the forum so far is impressive.

Maybe we got a tad too positive and hopeful about things feeling like 2021 again, this is the universe rebalancing 🤠

I'm optimistic a forward line of JVR, Melksham and Fritta supported by Chandler, Kossie, Nibbler, Trac and Max floating forward could still manage a game winning score. In Fritta's absence, I reckon we give Smith a go and run Tommo in the backline who I think has been largely good excepting the game against Richmond.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
