Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I think we definitely need another tall forward. If TMac doesn’t come up l think we should seriously consider van Rooyen. He can also ruck. He has shown outstanding form at Casey lately and will be an important player for us in the future, and we have shown we are prepared to throw rookies into the deep end in finals very successfully (aka Bowey last year).

Worth considering l think….what about you guys?

We'll probably talk more about this next week but I don't think JVR was going to get a look in this year. There were plenty of opportunities for him to come him before finals. I think we'll only go with another tall forward if TMac can prove his fitness and even then it's 50/50.

A Couple of minutes on Kozzie if you could gents. 15 goals in the first 11 rounds, 23 in the last 11 rounds with 18 of those 23 coming in the last 6 rounds which arguably was the hardest part of our fixture. Not many of us have seen finals at the G since 2018. If he carries this form into September us Melbourne supporters will be in for some treat, he's been sublime.

I also think in the last few decades small forwards have often been seen to struggle in big pressure, physical, finals games. Whereas that doesn't seem to be the case with Kozzy who relishes the physical contest as part of his game.

Also want to say, loved the end of the H&A season.

Some very great games with the Blues getting piped at the post and Sydney not doing enought to take away our home ground final.

But from our game, love the way the boys came together on the night and loved a couple of plays down the wing where we did everything we could to move the ball forward.

Apologies for my weird Alias, this is Matt from Brisbane.

Good evening Andy, George and Binman… very long time listener and first time caller but I felt compelled to write something this week.

My family and I were lucky enough to have a corporate box for the game on Friday night as we were trying to get our very ill father to one last game before he passed. Alas it wasn’t to be as he passed peacefully on the Tuesday morning before the game. And while it was incredibly sad we were determined to send him out in style and I’m glad the boys showed out for him in what was clearly our best display since our 2021 flag.

I was able to throw vitriol to all the lions fans below from the comfort of our corporate box and was in full voice for the occasion. The incessant cries for free kicks from the lions uneducated fans for were met with some harsh and unappreciated advice from me… and at one point in the last quarter there was a contentious decision right in front of us which had the lions fans hissing… and one of the lions fans cried “what the hell are you watching umpire?” I leaned over the balcony of my plush corporate suite and yelled “he’s watching your team get pumped!” which was met with laughter from lions and dees fans alike. It capped off a wonderful night and a fitting send off for our beloved dad.

Anyway I appreciate all three of you doing this week in and week out, win or lose it always gets me ready and puts things in perspective for the following week.

If I was to also indulge in a question… what sort of mid forward split do you see for Petracca going into the qualifying final now that Gus is filling a role in the midfield? I feel like Friday night he was forward of the contest more than I’ve seen this year or last and I think he’s so dynamic there that this move of Gus playing more mid could be the key for our quest for back to back flags. Thoughts?

Apologies but didn't see this until after the show. We did answer the Petracca question from another posters question.

Sincere condolences on your father's passing.

Listening to the podcast now, Binman pointing out how fit Kozzie is and the amount of gut running he does etc. Makes me think of those 4-5 short documentaries the club did after we drafted him, one of them showed a pre-season training day down at the beach, an absolutely brutal session and I remember Kozzie being last to finish a crab walk, other players taking turns to crab walk with him as encouragement, Kozzie was spent when he finished. I just love the effort he has put in to get to this level, there are naturally gifted players that never learn to put in the hard yards. ❤💙

I reckon we should give Weid another chance.

He hasn't had a crack for over a fortnight and he's a proven finals player .

Against the Hawks 4 years back for example.

Glad the AFL has upheld the suspension of Cameron Rayner (...so far, legal action still possible/pending).

Not that I hold anything personal against Rayner, quite the contrary as I'd like to see him be a good player in a Brisbane side that finishes 2nd to the MFC every year, but I'd feel it would be a huge injustice to Kade Chandler who got rubbed out for the full 2 weeks for something quite similar in nature, if not less neglegent/more accidental earlier in the season.

It's good to see something vaguely resembling consistency from the AFL match review/tribunal for a change.

There was another podcast last year (don’t remember which/who) on which Darren Burgess was the guest. When asked about the best athletes he’d seen in his time - Cricket Australia, Arsenal, Port Adelaide, etc - i.e. fastest, strongest, best endurance, he reckons the best combo of endurance with breaking speed he’d ever seen was Kozzie, and he was only 19 years old. Kid’s a freak athlete who loves the game and his teammates. Couldn’t wish for more.

Great pod again boys, but never has Andy’s MFCSS been less apparent. Could it be permanent?!

Confusing answer.

Could be read two ways - the MFCSS is permanent or it is permanently in remission (im pretty sure it is the former)

No. Just no.

You obviously didn’t watch last weeks vfl.

That was like a final for him (2nd last chance to show form and get picked for finals), and he delivered 6 possessions, 2 points, 2 marks. Completely mentally shot unfortunately and sadly.

My apologies. I miss read @Webber. I thought he was saying my MFCSS had come back. Missed the 'less' in his statement.

To be clear the MFCSS is still there I'm just masking it better for the show.

No confusion here. When it comes to any remission or dismembering of Andy’s MFCSS, my question was obviously rhetorical.

ps….takes one to know one.

As I've stated numerous times on the show my MFCSS can never truly go away because of my own deep seeded anxieties as well as the fact that I just want us to win and be successful. It did not help that for the first 45 years of my life we were never able to achieve the ultimate goal in football and whenever we got close it always ended badly followed by some crushing lows or rollcoasters from season to season.

Now all I want is to be there in the flesh for a Premiership and maybe that will go a long way to vanquishing my own demons.

Never gonna happen, not entirely, and you have no need to explain. I was born the year AFTER we won our 12th premiership, so as far as I was concerned (a meagre year since the ‘am’ obviously became a glorious ‘was’), the Dees lack of success co-aligned with my very existence. Has been good to find out I’m not alone in this irrational (or was it?!), thoroughly self-absorbed, self-imposed supporter dysfunction. Brick by brick Andy.

Great work with the Podcasts, gents.

2 points....

1.  You said about 70 people listen live. Do you know how many listen later,  to the podcasts?   I would think many more. Apart from the pre-GF show last season, I never listen live, but never miss the podcast. I admire your insight into tactics etc very much, but , like Andy, I suffer severely from chronic, metastatic, MFCSS.

2. I can hear Andy clearly, but  the other two are much quieter, and when listening to the podcast while out running, I have trouble hearing them, even at full volume. I can hear callers who ring in easily, but "Binman" in particular, is very quiet.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
