Patrick Cripps FREE to play

Surely the MRO determination should result in a suspension.

Chose to bump not tackle

Leapt off the ground

Contact with the head

Medium to high impact

Player subbed out

I think he gets 4 weeks, reduced to 3 weeks with a guilty plea.

High impact is probably easy to argue. His season is over, that's for sure.

Don't forget the big name player discount.

DONT FORGET THEY WANT CARLTON IN THE FINALS, NOT ONLY WILL HE GET OFF WITH A FINE, HE WILL GET 4 FREE KICKS RIGHT IN FRONT OF GOAL ON SATURDAY NIGHT.

I've given up on trying to predict what the tribunal will do. I must admit when I saw the incident in real time I wasn't thinking suspension

I think 2 weeks is about right, I don't think he intended such a head-high malicious act, although he did intend to hit him hard

the fact it is not in a marking contest means the Blues have no basis to even argue that he should be cleared

MRO will give 2 weeks and then they will appeal.  the media will make it a circus

If he gets suspended I see this playing out until Thursday night.
2 weeks today, challenge at the Tribunal Tuesday night where the ban is upheld and finally to the appeals board Thursday.

I think he’ll get one. Not based on any logic other than the AFL will want to be seen to be doing something but they also want him there for rd 23 when Carlton plays the Pies.

Imagine if Neal-Bullen did this - straight 6 weeks.

Cripps I think may only get one so he can be there for R23 same as bombay

Should go but I suspect the wheels are turning to prevent any suspension.

If that happens you have to feel for someone like Kade Chandler, a “no name” who took a two week suspension just when on the cusp of getting a regular game.

There’s no way he’ll get off without suspension. Ah Chee was concussed, and if there’s one thing the AFL doesn’t want to be seen being flippant about anymore it’s concussion.

Ah Chee will miss a match next week, but Cripps gets to play? Absolutely no way.

The elbow makes contact with the head

Both feet are off the ground. He lined him up.
4 Weeks AFL….

He'll get 2 weeks, perhaps reduced to 1, then may get off on appeal

But the more I look at the replay the more I think it is incidental contact. If Ah Chee isn't there, then Cripps grabs the ball on his chest in a chest mark motion. Had the ball been kicked, this would be a perfectly reasonable attack at the footy.

Will all come down to whether his attack on the ball is seen as reasonable.

All that matters to me is he’ll get atleast 1 week

3 weeks would be better if we get them in the first week of the finals.

1 or 2 weeks but then Carlton   likely to appeal with little to lose and then the media circus  goes into overdrive same as the all week Buddy fiasco before our game with the swans. The AFL is run  by amateurs. Lose the appeal and sentence doubled.  Pure and simple.

From what I saw his intention was to bump Ah Chee. Therefore the act has to be adjudicated as intentional. With the high impact and injury, he will get 2-3 weeks. If the MRO deem it to be unintentional ( the contact), then he will get off. If that happens then there is no doubt there are different sets of rules depending on a players popularity

They'll argue Ahh Chee got concussed as Cripps fell down and hit him in the head, which was accidental. The initial jump and hit to the head was not that malicious, no free kick given (of course) and not an act that would have concussed Ahh Chee.

He'll get off I think.

Not even Carlton can get off this one, In the air a blatant elbow to the jaw of Ahh Chee knocked out subbed out of game.

They will give Cripps 2 weeks effectively ending his season.

Ah cheers might also have to miss our game.

Not sure how it works, but it is a mandatory 12 day break posy concussion.

Day 12 is tge Friday we play them.

Cripps should have simply tackled Ahh Chee - his decision was to bump. It was made a lot worse by jumping off the ground and making contact with the head - no attempt to actually win the ball

Has to be suspended - but we all know how flawed this system is

Of course Cripps should get weeks.

But Cotchin should have been suspended for his sling tackle on Saturday night. Got nothing.

Be prepared for the MRO to say it wasn't a reportable offence.

(PS: I don't like the way we generally, whether overtly or not, whether subconsciously or not, hope that our opponents' best players may miss due to injury/suspension. Whether or not Cripps plays this week, we need to assume Carlton bring their best, which is capable of beating us).

Due to concussion, Ah Chee will miss this week - but he should also miss the next 10 for allowing his face to interfere with Cripps' elbow.

100% - we need to (and should) destroy the Blues this week, with or without Cripps.

  • PREVIEW: Brisbane

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.
