Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Anyone feel like we didnt play that well (as per the past 11 pages), got smashed in the [censored] count, the 9th best team played out of their skins, and that 9 times out of 10 we win that game (and nearly still did today). And we are 3rd. It's not all that bad, is it?

I agree we have to lift a fair bit if we are going to win it (I watched Geelong's last quarter today and their pressure is far superior to ours) but I'm not willing to put a line through 2022 just yet.

Mentally soft.

What do you expect when your captains puts in one of the most insipid performance.

Gawn, Jackson, Harmes and Spargo were all absolutely embarrassing. Besides Gawn, you could easily mount a case for all 3 being dropped.

We're not top 4 standard team at the moment and have said this since the Geelong loss. We have far too many concerns with our game being so bloody predictable.

So [censored] angry..

Agree, English gave Max a bath, Why Max did you not pick him up when he was in dangerous positions both forward and back. Dreadful!

We can look at all facets of the game, but let’s call a spade a spade. Kozzy missed from directly in front and it goes the other end and Steven May has the brain fart of the year with a kick across goal. It’s a 12 point turnaround and the game was done.

Exactly! Just wasn’t our night tonight. Throw in the short break as well and things just went against us. Not as worried as most on here.

I’m not, but having listened to Goody’s press conference, I expect an immediate response next week. We are the reigning premiers and we haven’t played like it for some time. Next week is another opportunity to hunt a team. We owe them. The embarrassed us at the G. So flip the damn script. Let’s hunt them. Set ourselves. A mini final of sorts. Get angry. Get on the road. Get the W and Re-announce ourselves

I agree but 13 marks inside 50 may have contributed to that. That seems pretty high for us so less chances for our small forwards to apply that pressure on the ground ball. Still would like to see some tackles inside 50 though obviously.

We built our game last year on forward half turnovers and pressure.

Last night was the complete opposite to that. Bailey Dale was able to waltz out of the back half far too easy and set up their counter attack without any pressure.

Having the no tackles inside 50 is disappointing considering this was our benchmark 12 months ago

I haven’t read the last 12 pages but my thoughts watching were all about the way the game is umpired.

The holding the ball/incorrect disposal/holding the man rule is an absolute joke (both sides way, I’ll add)

There seems to be a real lack of game sense in the way the umpires adjudicate as there were baffling decisions made all night.

I genuinely don’t know what the umpires are going to do when a tackle is laid

Called it out in the VFL game day thread, but some clueless posters didn’t like it.

We have no plan B and our Plan A has been well and truly figured out. We’ve gone 3-5 since our 10 & 0 start, and it’s looking likely we’ll miss top 4 with our run home. The way we’re playing atm, any team in the 8 will be praying to play us. We have no competitive desire, no hunger for the contest, and no killing instinct (we get up by a decent amount, then simply surrender).

Spargo can flounder in the 2’s for all I care, he’s a small forward that doesn’t crumb, nor kick goals. If Jackson thinks he’s worth more than $500k a year with those weak efforts, Freo are welcome to him. Trac just doesn’t have his head in the game, May should join the umpiring ranks (as clearly it’s one rule for him and another for everyone else). As for Harmes, look elsewhere, as you are the epitome of dead weight.

Poor Clarrie with his 1 busted hand is the only one who gives his all 100% of the time. As for Gawn, the big fella ain’t gonna be around much longer, his body is just about cactus (from all the years of abuse he’s copped, yet never complained about once).

Our once mighty defence is becoming very leaky, which is now uncovering the weaknesses of our midfield and forward line. Unless we make drastic changes to our KPF stocks and bring in fresh blood in the middle, 2021 will be the only success this team will see.

You want a ‘Plan B’ - you want a completely different way of playing? Do it over the summer. You don’t have time to train the intricacies of a gameplan in season.

Oh, and that plan then becomes Plan A with no other plan because it is a ridiculous notion to coach two ways of playing to a group.

Our players are not playing well enough to the gameplan; the plan is sound.

These silly practice matches are just annoying me now! When is the grand final on?

It’s three weeks after we had to travel to Sydney to play a Qualifying final because we didn’t win enough practice matches, and two weeks after we were sent out in straight sets by Collingwood because we had to play a semi final against a team too early because we didn’t win enough practice matches.

Fitness-wise, the boys are peaking watching Geelong and Sydney play so the cones and [censored] should go down real good on GF day.

I feel this way also.

Playing terrible 2nd half yet ahead with 4 minutes to go.

The first 1/2 commentary was all effusive about the Dees and we saw glimpses of what's achievable despite holes and players down on form.

There's enough to work on but the game goes for 4 quarters , not 2.

Sadly Weid didn't take the chance offered him.

Clarry is a star going in as hard as ever with courage.  He just shows up what Luke is really worth by comparison.  Not nearly as  much, and on potential only, he sure isn't doing it now.

Clarry was at the same age.

Interesting few weeks.

Times running out now.

Our game plan is still a mess because teams have worked us out. Get us through the corridor and we're cooked.

I was waiting for our plan B all match - to give the umpires nothing to penalise us for - and to generate some wider-field attack lines where midfielders and flankers would be close enough to distribute and take open shots for goal. We are stuck in the deep forwards mentality and they have proven all season to be inadequate for the number of entries we make. Pathetic, mindless, predictable and half-hearted.

Free kick Bulldogs! Enough said...

Langdon.. I thought he struggled on his wing and hasn't played well since having his ribs broken in the game against North.

Trac.. no where near his best form. Not playing in beast mode and doesn't look as fit as last season.

May.. good game apart from an extremely poor decision in the last quarter that potentially cost us the game. Why didn't he slow down the game and kick long?

No tackles in the forward 50...where has our forward pressure gone? ANB, Spargo, Kozzie.. that's their role!

Oliver.. lots of possessions but lots under pressure and quite a few not effective.

Weideman.. was ok... we need to change up our forward line and give it a different look. Bring in JvR or play Petty, Hunt or Smith forward.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
