Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

I was thoroughly impressed with us tonight. We did really well. Best we’ve played in some time. The only difference is last year we were able to win in spite of external factors (ie: umpires). This year, we aren’t quire at that point. We will need to get back there.

Unfortunately the same issues come up week after week - that have been around for well over a decade.

- No power forwards.

- Horrible inside 50's (Spargo is excused)

- Woeful kicking skills/turnovers.

On top of that, we also look slow as hell at the moment.  Tomlinson, JJ, Brayshaw, we're carrying a few too many plodders at once.

We can't win a final with Tomlinson and JJ in our team, they are just so far off AFL pace and intensity.  And Brayshaw getting it more these days just highlights his poor disposal efficiency. He's 50/50 at best, always been a bit NQR at the worst times.

Embarrasingly outcoached tonight.  The Bulldogs just chipped sideways until we all sagged deep up the ground.. so even if we intercepted we would never have anything to kick to except a wall of Bulldogs.  Instead of trying to run it, we just politely kicked it long straight back to them.

Can't think of one player that has improved this year.  Not enjoyable to watch.

I’d say Petty. And I think Brayshaw has generally risen a whisker this season. But yeah, you’d wan’t that list to be much bigger.

I agree but 13 marks inside 50 may have contributed to that. That seems pretty high for us so less chances for our small forwards to apply that pressure on the ground ball. Still would like to see some tackles inside 50 though obviously.

Dogs had 10 marks inside 50 (albeit from 9 more entries) but still managed 9 tackles inside 50.

I'm not just blaming the smalls mind you, I think we lacked a 2nd tall forward option that would have brought it to ground those other times.

Hahaha! Come on "Nev" we go back a long way.

You had the first crack... you had to post that stats thing that you subsequently deleted ... now you're whimping out - that's fine.

Just don't try to sugarcoat it as some sort of magnanimous gesture

Let's both just move on hey. No one wants to read this kind of back and forth.

Jordon is a clear one too. I'd definitely include Viney, Kozzy and probably Clarry. Saw the best of May too early in the season, not quite as good post-injury

I thought Salem was ok tonight. Was under pressure most times he disposed of it but tended to find a teammate or put it to our advantage.

Salem needs to regain that quick 2 step he previously possessed that created time for himself to deliver the ball without being under undue pressure

Since having that injury he's often looked slow and rushed.  Those penetrating kicks of his into the forward 50 are virtually non existent

But he's not on his own in that area ... a number of our players just aren't playing to the level that they were last season

Tonight we kicked 1 goal in the last quarter when the game was up for grabs.  The opposition ran out the game and looked fitter and faster as the game went on

As someone else mentioned here earlier, that's now 5 games where we've been overrun in the 2nd half.  Over an 8 game stretch

Big game next week.  It will be like a final with a lot riding on the result.  If we don't win we're in trouble

Didn't seem super happy, and not overly enthusiastic about Weid IMO.

Brayshaw, Jordon, Viney have improved this year. Clarry, Kozzie, Fritsch. Langdon and Petty on par with last year. The rest of the team have slightly regressed, and a few have dropped badly.

Goody said at the start of the year that the players who missed out on the GF would drive the group forward. Casey are sitting unbeaten with 15 wins, and some should feel peeved with not getting rewarded with selection.

Not overly enthusiastic re Weeds, but was positive enough about him - a bit different to last time when his comment was quite brutal, at least in that context.

Don't agree re Langdon. He was clear AA last year, this year not so much. For me, hasn't been the same since the concussion. Only 5 kicks today and 165 metres gained. That's a big drop on what he was producing last year, and one of the (many?) factors in why we're not going as well.

without lever we really lacked leadership in the backline

i don't know / understand what's happened to may, but since he copped that concussion vs freo / at entrocote he's been a shell of his former self

on the one hand i thought petty was very good; on the other had 5 kicked on him

frustrating game to watch as i thought it was completely played on their terms - fast, open, lots of ball movement

it's not all doom and gloom - this season is crazy even and i think anyone from 2-10 is in with a chance if everything 'clicks' for them, but at the moment i think the cats are clear favourites

which is annoying as all hell

Langdon was ordinary tonight, but he also had a quiet stretch of games last year, which is why he didn't even make the AA squad. I think his form overall this year has matched last year.

Are you sure Petty was on JUH? When you watch his 5 goals, only once was he manned up, and Tomlinson was on him.

switched and changed i thought - petty when he was up the ground further and moving back i50, which was when i thought it got lost, with tomlinson and petty not getting the 'change over' right

In the washup of the season, I think that one event is going to be bought up a lot. And fair enough, I think it has completely screwed Mays confidence and standing in the team. That is why he is so fumbly and the more he [censored] it up, the more pressure he is going to feel.

It doesn’t take much to unsettle a team and I think this is going to haunt him for quite some time. I never would have pictured it at the time, but that was what changed the entire course of our season.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
