Swans are a better team without him I reckon, I'd be going for Taylor Walker if we're after ageing big forwards that is..

Swans may be a better team without him, but we might be better.   (Walker has resigned with Crows)

He's not a free agent based on the list released by the AFL, meaning we'd have to trade for him. Plus, the story is just Franklin's camp postering, and are clearly trying to get a better deal from the Swans.

He wants it public that he's been lowballed and has threatened to play elsewhere so that the Swans up their offer from $500k, to his desired $700k-800k.

The Heraldsun is happy to go with the story for clicks and advertising cash.

But this is far more likely 😅

500k is probably about the right offer I would think at his age.

$750k a year is probably a bit too much for an ageing injury and suspension prone player, albeit legendry player.

I would imagine he'll be at Sydney next year.

If they don't have confidence in T Mac's body next year, then a readymade mature key forward is absolute priority next year if we bow out meekly in the finals.

He is a free agent. He was a free agent when he left the Hawks. You stay a free agent at the end of every contract.

Plus his contract at the Swans was for 9 years. Meaning he would qualify again anyway.

I suspect that the Swans have already well and truly spent the "buddy savings" elsewhere. If it's "only"$200k they will find it but if he is after a 2 year deal on $700k a year it could be a stretch.

If he is traded do the Swans get the free agent compo pick

Would have him in a second. Sadly I can’t see how we can afford it and I also don’t think he would want to uproot his family for 1-2 years.

He doesn’t deserves anywhere near 750k, heck, the Swans offer of 500k is generous imo.

Rubbish!

How many $$$$ do you reckon he actually brings through the door?

Be able to afford him if we lose Jacko

He's still got it. For how much longer i don't know. He would improve us if he can maintain reasonable form and output

Would cushion the blow from losing Jackson

Box office name. Puts bums on seats. I'm sure the bean counters will figure out how many new memberships he'll attract. Not sure if we could fit into our cap

Maybe the chance of another flag might lure him across? Could argue the Swans aren't that far though

All that said, i reckon he'll stay at the Swans.

Buddy was a Dees fan and even during his time at Hawthorn and Sydney he secretly barracked for Melbourne. Or so I heard.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
