Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

For Grundy? Pick 20-25. Whether it's acquired as part of a shuffling of future picks and the Bedford trade, who knows, but we can't sit on our hands and hope Peter Bell grows a brain.

Great idea! We can then negotiate with the jar he keeps it in. 😉

I presume you had some knowledge @Ouch!?

LOL, not a damn clue!

I honestly think it was around the time that the media were banging on about how good the pies were in the ruck, and Brodie mightnt get a game with the streak they were on.

I should have put some money down for a Tattslotto ticket that weekend!  (*cough* Gamble responsibly kiddies!!)

Also says that his salary decreases over the last 2 years of the deal, I wonder if we're getting him to average it out a bit and it'll end up being around $600k per year (after the Pies chip in $300k). That'll be a huge get for us, I think he jumps into our top 10 players and will allow Max to play for another year or 2. A pick in the 20s would be justified here.

So this sounds like a done deal. which you would think means the draft pick has been agreed upon. what could the deal be?  we only have 32 which wouldn't be enough. maybe Future 2nd rounder plus 32?   F2 would be around 34 i guess

F2 and 32 with a Pies pick coming back our way?

I'm thinking pick 27 is heading their way.

We probably throw in 52 and deal is done.

We have said we are only wanting 2 live picks this year.

I reckon we will throw in whatever pick we get for Bedford and we are asking for better than #44 from GWS (the pick they received for Hill).

I’d be surprised if that was the case LH. Pies have asked for a pick inside top 25. We are very close with 27. If we add the Bedford pick then we are going way over their asking price.

Max can provide some amazing silver service in the ruck. But on the whole I don’t think we capitalise on his time in the middle as much as we should.

His marking around the ground is a real weapon (when not 1 on 5). So my guess would be Grundy more time ruck, Max a combination of forward and copying Geel strategy this year of ruckman pushing back to increase the chances of an intercept mark.

Two other advantages I can see are

1) We would really capitalise when the main oppo ruckman is having a rest, and coming up against the part-timer

2) We would have great match-up flexibility to switch Max & Grundy ruck/back/fwd depending on the opponent and their weaknesses/strengths

This. For our much vaunted midfield we do not dominate as we should.

I tend to agree and it probably has to fall on Yze’s shoulders in some respect, however, what this point disregards is that we usually set up minus 1 at stoppages and sometimes minus 2. Our work from centre stoppage as the season wore on became deadly. We scored many of our goals from this situation.

It's all about manufacturing an outnumber behind the ball and backing our elite midfield to break even minus 1 or 2 down.

It's a percentage strategy, which is probably the right one in the long run.

I reckon it speaks more to the way we're trying to play than anything else, i don't think we might losing clearance on our terms,

Pretty much. Our scores from stoppage were very good later in the season, it was our scores from turnover that was lacking.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
