Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Farewell Brodie Grundy

Question about Grundy, bit of talk about him going to his third club next year. In the event this happens would the Pies still have to pay part of his contract or would Melbourne have to pay. Or of course would all three clubs have to agree to something. I hope he stays as he has a few years on Max and we are going to need him.

The talk has come from GW bringing it up on Crunch time today and to put it in his words "Sure, Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant tag teamed sometimes but they are better opponents"

It's not happening, we are not trading him.

In a perfect world, we don’t [censored] Gawn in rounds 1-16. We keep him fresh and then he can do what he did last night when it really matters. Gawn doing Gawn things in September, brings us that much closer to a flag.

That is where Grundy’s value is. If we can get from him what we get from Ben Brown, that would be the best outcome.

I suppose because we invested a big chunk of our TPP in him and had a clear plan of how we wanted the partnership to work, which hasn’t come to fruition.

Grundy is a decorated and experienced player, and I doubt he wants to play for Casey.
This was always going to be a big story.

It is a complete nothing burger.

Yze said pre game on abc he'll be back. Gawn said the same post match x 2 as did goody in his post match presser.

The afl football media is an embarrassing, parochial, backwater joke.

How can you say that it’s a ‘nothing burger’?

I literally said at the time of the trade that we would be better off getting a fwd who can ruck and help solve our gaping tall fwd problems moving into next year. And here we are 6 weeks out from finals and Grundy is playing VFL.

The hopes of the coaching staff aside - they are a part of the MC that dropped him and abandoned the ruck duality.

The media may beat this up to within an inch of our lives but it’s not nothing whenever you have $650k playing in the VFL.

I don’t see it happening with this FD. They believe they can get it going, and also ‘sunk cost’ is more than just picks and TPP it’s relationships and promises made.

Grundy should look at replacing JVR this season because their forward craft are at similar capabilities. But forget about next year - JVR will street past him.

I remember when both Gawn and Goody said the Gawn/Pruess combo will work as well.

Funny that.

Grundy was worth a punt for a 2nd rounder, but the reality is he was always going to be more valuable to us in the back-end of his contract (to cover Gawn) rather than in his first couple seasons

Gonna be interesting to see what happens at the end of the year should he not get back in the side

I wish him all the luck going.

Seems like a decent bloke with genuine intent.

So the more immediate talking point is what needs to happen with our KPF stocks in order for our line-up, up forward to work (in terms of being a premiership threat)

Can Grundy force his way into the team up forward and does he need to be 'that' good to replace JVR or Brown?

What does Brown or JVR need to do to maintain their spots?

And what about Schache?

Is T-Mac done for the year?

Does Melksham rediscovering his form change the make-up of the forward line going forward

And then there's Fritsch coming back in a month (?)

After initially being quite shocked with the Grundy back to Casey in the forward line move, I can now see what the MC are looking for ... but whether Grundy up forward can work or not is questionable

Watching last night it's noticeable that JVR isn't getting to the right spots due to his inexperience.  He's a step behind instead of being a step ahead.  He's got a bit of go in him but he's raw

With Brown, he's just not the Brown of old.  So he's a step behind but that's due to a body that can't quite do what it once could do

So again, does Grundy have to be all that good in order to snag a KPF spot?

16 possessions, 6 marks and a goal today is hardly startling but it is a start

That’s a very stupid belief Gerard.

We have no real backup for Max other than Grundy atm.

Verall is not ready and why kill JVR and hurt his forward game, going up against much bigger experienced ruckmen. Tom Mac is injured a lot now and is close to the end of his AFL career.

Also how would Max have played last night, if he had already played most of every game to date?

Think you are way off the mark Gerard.

If he was playing as a pure fwd as is suggested I’d say that is pretty decent isn’t it?

The ruck position itself is overrated. We get value from Gawn in his ground coverage. His game yesterday is more the exception- but it doesn’t happen every game.

Yes, if so, it's quite a good start

Of course, we're looking for the goals, Wellsy, but 16 possessions, 6 marks and 1 goal is better than 8 touches, 3 marks and 2 goals (IMV)

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.
