Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

List of Former Demons who missed out on a flag.

I made a list of former players who could have a premiership medallion if they had made different choices and/or if things had turned out differently for them:

Tom Scully, Jack Trengove, Jack Grimes, Jack Watts, Mitch Clark, Liam Jurrah, Jeff Garlett, Harry Lumumba, Jessie Hogan, Dean Kent, Mitch Hannan, Sam Frost, Stefan Martin.

Special mention to Isaac Smith for picking Geelong.

If we'd kept Hogan then we wouldn't have May etc. If we hadn't of lost scully, we wouldn't have Hogan etc. if a player left and bad mouthed us then i'd be happy to rub it in. On the day i didn't want Hannan to get a medal having just left us (but that was more fo rthe precedent it could set - whereas by winning we have set the opposite precedent, i.e. don't leave in case miss out on a potential premiership next year). :)

Not exactly on topic, but back in the day I always felt for Stan Alves. Debuted in Round 7, 1965, into a 6 and 0 premiership team. Nek minit...

And 226 games later...

Gave me something to cheer in 1977 though.

Yeah, I'd like to think that we could have found another way to get May if we'd kept Hogan, but perhaps that's not realistic.  Feel for Jessy,  he was there for a fair period when we were pretty average, thought he was an important part of the rebuild and ascendancy back into relevance 2015 - 2018, but unfortunately things just fell apart for him on and off the field.  Could still be a pretty solid player if he can get his body right and I get the feeling GWS could still be a contender in the seasons ahead, so I wouldn't resent him having some sucess (preferably not at our expense!!).  Similarly, I don't really resent Hannan for leaving us.

Howe's a different story and as it turns out $$$lly was better off taking the money and ending up at a struggling Hawthorn - got about what he deserved in footy karma in the end I think.

This is crazy talk. BUT someone who was conspicuous by their absence in the Demons return to greatness was Brock McBrainless. Probably penniless. wasted and blaming the world. I am not sure who has the higher IQ out of Brock or Dayne Beams, however I am fairly sure that the dog [censored] on my neighbors nature strip has a higher IQ than both.

Bit unfair to Lumumba. He was advised to retire by doctors

This was about players who over the last 10-12 years left the Club for whatever reason but had they stayed might have played in a Premiership side.  I reckon the cut off age is 35 therefore Brock Mclean & Jeremy Howe is are the ones I missed.

OMac & Tommy Bugg who was fortunate enough to have his image painted on a wall in a city laneway. Snorting a Swans player behind play didn't work out to well however.

What type of unnatural act is that?

Well seeing how may was unfit and injured for most of his first year, potentially we could've told him to wait one more year and either:

1) traded Jessie and picked up the other king brother for pick 6, or

2) kept Hogan and picked may up as a free agent the year after.

From the talk though he wasn't in the best head space and it was effecting the team off field, so mutually beneficial outcome.

The club was in a state of flux for a while re his 'concussion' issues and he didn't turn up to training for a while there  ... Peter Jackson at the time said something like, 'we will continue negotiating for only so long' ... seeming to be peeved with Lumumba ... he also strangely claimed he wasn't allowed to play to reach triggers in his contact ... all very odd

Yes there seemed to be some shenanigans around his concussion & his contract & retirement. Think he maybe played 2 or 3 good games for us.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
