Doubt his manager is flying over to not sign. Just maybe everyone is excited over the length of the contract.

Who’s his manager, big Phil Scully.

That’s it the 50 minute bus trip to The Cattery 😉

Or a ferry ride across the bay if you are big Maxy!

Pretty sure he’s going to stay after he gets this picture I drew him and also the 50 cent sealer I put in with it.

Makes me nervous when I listen to the radio & they talk about Luke and they say the footy talk is he's going.

Please Luke stay

All based on the fact he hasn't signed yet.

Smoke and mirrors. He will sign 3-4 years. The one I am a little concerned about is Clarry only signing on for another 2. I have said it before I would have signed him on for the time that we signed Viney on for and signed Viney on for 2.

its all good we got clarry locked away now. Now for Lukes Signature till 2040 and we can all relax a little bit

A no risk position for the media to say he is gone. Generates interest, and If he stays they can just say they were right at the time, but he changed his mind late.

Journos go with it so on the odd occasion they are right, they can say they were first to go with it.

Let's hope he doesn't hit the green option and mucks the signature!

Jarrod Witts has 2 years left on a contract. Would be a great handover from Max to him.
not sure of chance to get before contract ends but

Witts is the AA ruck this year so far imo

Witts turns 30 in September, Gawn will still be 30 then.  Why would we be handing from Gawn to Witts?  And other than hitouts, Gawn leads Witts (easily) in just about every other measurable stat for the season. Assuming Max doesn't miss more than a couple of games he's the AA ruck again.

Green was always a last resort!!

There was a guy I worked with back in the 90’s at ABC who only wrote in Green Pen!

Oh right. Didn’t think Witts was that old

Why?

They are a manufactured team with no history, hardly any supporters and the supporters of other clubs couldn’t give a stuff about them. The AFL has gifted them a really good list, a couple of times, but we got nothing when we were struggling. So for the sake of TV rights they have done whatever they could to give them success

As a Melbourne supporter, why is is important they are a contender?

Would you be happy to see them beat us in a GF.

We got support- got priority picks, even 'tanked' for it, got financial bailouts, got afl support to get Jackson and Roos. stuffed most of that up, but we've got something out of it in the end, and man, doesn't it feel amazing to be able to be on the winners side. So wouldn't it be a good thing to see some lads trying their best, and a coach putting in the ridiculous hard work get some reward? They're are good people trying hard.

Just because you care about Dees doesn't mean you also want others to fail. Speaking on my own behalf at least.

Good points but fairly big $$$ being thrown at rugby states could more equitably used to gold-plate the proposed Hobart stadium. Then you could have Brisbane suns-of-the-royboys.

After last week and yesterday, I’m uppping my offer to $900k over 6 years (total $5.4m).  He’s going to be premier ruckman in the league within 2 years. Maxy can go to full forward and kick 100.

Pondering if the delay in an announcement/signing of contract (whatever it may be) is an orchestrated maneuver, as all parties are part of the payroll/accreditation of the AFL...

The populous are hungry for clarity... 'click' 'click 'click'*

Like Imagining Max as the second ruckman. Like him even more as a KPF. Will prolong his career and would improve our forward line considerably

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
