tough quarter. Lions far the better team. We need to bring much more heat otherwise we're going to have our pants pulled down tonight.

A really good test for us now. No pressure anywhere across the ground.

in the past we would have been down 6 goals by now.

Time to start playing dees and shut that cheating bartard Hipwood down.

Keep the Faith!

They can’t play better, and we are going at 60%. Clean up around the ball, lift our intensity, and the umpires start being consistent with stoppages (some are given forever, while others they want to ball up after 1 second) and we’ll be right.

We're not switched on at all

They’re playing out of their skins. They’re sticking marks, getting hands free in tackles, bounces going their way.

Lucky to only be two goals down. Need to lift. But the positive is that we have a lot of improvement in us.

Hipwood killing us. This is what weiderman has to do

He’s been killing us since that day he kicked 5 goals either side of 3qtr time at the Gabba.

McDonald, Weideman and Jackson have a combined total of 4 disposal. That's our 3 key forwards who have done nothing.

Keep it up and you can take your pick out of Weideman and Jackson who goes out for Brown.

Jackson up forward is useless and Weideman just doesn't demand it enough.

For all the Jake Melksham fans here...can you please explain why he hasnt even TOUCHED  the ball or layed a tackle in twenty minutes of footy.

We arent playing badly but we arent playing well... if that makes any sense

Game lacks a sort of energy. We haven’t turned up today. No real intensity & lethargic. Can’t fault the Lions - they are a side playing like a top 4 team.

he hates mfc

Ok lucky to be only 2 goals down. Let not have another quarter as bad as that one.

8 goal loss if this continues

Pressure lacking

kicking to packs

they're marking everything

panick

is Goodwin the right guy (j/k)

If Hipwood plays on from a mark foward of the mark and out of bounds why isn't play on and then out of bounds?

We look very undersized down back normally Hipwood and Daniher can’t kick straight BUT tonight they can

we look flat and nobody dangerous up front need a big turnaround

He had a decent game last week, so he is due for another seven down games.

They need to stick some marke but to be fair the ball lived in Brisbane's forward half

hard to watch him play

Gonna take a mighty shut-down effort this one. They’re outstanding, and making us look very ordinary.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • GAMEDAY: West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
