I’m hoping that they have a few wins before they play us so they don’t have to treat the QB game as their grand final although we do need their crowd.

Also would prefer they finish about 4th last so that come draft time, someone nominates Nick Daicos ahead of their pick.

Imagine if the pies finished last and then had to give the no.1 pick to gws!

Graham Wright needs a bit of a blow torch applied I think. He gets given a lot of kudos for the Hawks success but very little looking under the rug of the last 4 years of terrible trades and lost topping up of the list.

Goes to the Pies and it all turns pear shaped, but things are tracking nicely to reappoint Nafan. Lols.

“I am very excited to take on the General Manager of Football position at Collingwood, and look forward to the opportunity to work with Nathan Buckley, the players and staff at the club,” Wright said.

“Following a strong 2020 campaign and with a fresh crop of talent from last year’s draft, I am clearly stepping into a program with a strong foundation and a desire for even greater success.”

Actually, just realised they traded their first round pick last year. Bad luck Pies.

Once Pendlebury retires, they are in a world of nowhere for quite a while

Happy Happy, Joy Joy ?

I've always disliked Pendlebury for his off field demeanour. He strikes me as a bit of a snob, or a grump. As he's Buckley's biggest advocate and seems to be completely silent on the club's past problems, maybe Pendlebury is part of the cultural problem down there too? So on the contrary, maybe the club benefits from a fresh start without him and Buckley in the future.

I heard a whisper last Saturday that the AFL told The Filth to get rid of those 3 players last Summer or get done for Salary Cap breaches.
even after dumping the 3, they are still in massive trouble, as in a lot more will happen.
i will be watching with interest.
The 3 Players they offloaded are the 3 they need the most.

Possibly, but i don’t see a lot of leadership once he goes.
Not that I know their list closely

His post trade week interview is up there with Jacko on Open Mike as my favourite sport interviews ever.

Massive fan of train wreck TV.

The way the Filth are going (and also with historical resign/re-sign posts), did anyone else have to open the thread to check before being completely sure what it was about?

Tom Morris said tonight on FOX that Guy asked to resign after trade week last year, but will stay until the end of the mid season draft. It doesn't really make sense to me and sounds like Collingwood are continuing the spin.

Hardly a fall guy - the List manager overseeing the last 3 years must go and quick.  Not saying he is solely responsible but clearly had a fair bit to do with this mess

No Salary cap, No stars - how does that work? And they don't have any young guns coming through aside from Daics x2

Expect blokes like Howe to get chucked out next

It's bloody wonderful to see the Pies flailing about. The Bummers too.

Just need the Weagles to fall in a heap to complete the trifecta.

How funny would it be to see Norf bid with pick 1 for Daicos, and the pies spend their entire draft points matching it?

Wonder whether the list management moves undertaken last year by cfc and Guy were partly done in the belief they could attract trac. With that falling through perhaps Guy has fallen on his sword

If the pies are to sort themselves out I think the first contract they have to deal with is Grundy’s. Trade him or renegotiate the terms. Adelaide will have decent picks so I’d seriously consider cutting him loose.

Pendles still has 2-3 years left in him to lead the rebuild, find a spot off half forward perhaps but hold onto him as long as you can

De Goey is another on big money who is not justifying his wage at all. He’s not leadership material so perhaps let Carlton have for their first round pick.

Anyways, they’re in a bad way and I will not be surprised if North roll them this weekend.

I have zero inside info, but this is the only logical explanation in my opinion. How else could they find themselves in such a mess, and still be under cap pressure after ditching those 3 contracts. Either that or someone stuffed up the formula on the excel spreadsheet.

I think he has been scapegoated. The Grundy and Beams deals were ticked off at board level so above his head. He was one of a number of people responsible for this but ultimately interference from the board was the problem. That Beams deal is one of the worst ever signed by an AFL club and that one is Eddie's fault.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
