spalding 1,128 Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 We play the swans next. 1 week probably even though the guy played on Quote
MurDoc516 1,529 Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 The two things that might save him is no damage (it seems) and he had no time to react/adjust to the north player coming in low. He can argue the arm wasn't high at all. Unfortunately, i think he gets a week because they will say it looked bad so expect, high and careless. Quote
Redleg 42,156 Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 Argument has to be that is my broken hand arm and I can’t fend off with hand as it could be further damaged, so used forearm to shoulder but he ducked and caused the head contact. No concussion. Played the game out. Hopefully that is a fine but as Jaded said he is a MFC player and I expect a week. 4 1 Quote
Seetrollgetttroll 89 Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 If Hawkins doesn't get suspended for swinging an elbow and accidentally fracturing Mays eye socket, Fritsch shouldn't get suspended for raising an elbow and having Powell run and stumble straight into it. Having said that, the AFL tribunal is so inconsistent these days it's hard to predict what the verdict might be. 5 2 Quote
Deestroy All 14,266 Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 Lol 2 weeks. I know we fear the worst but come on. He had the ball. Kid came in fast and low before Slick Fritz could extend for the don’t argue. 1 1 1 Quote
DemonOX 8,857 Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 It was accidental just like that dork from Geelong. The oppo player was already trying to tackle Fritta low and fended off and accidentally got him high. He is a dees player and will get a week. 3 1 Quote

There was nothing deliberate in it and no concussion. Why do you say that it is conditional on this incident? Quote

LOOKED BAD..........May dent look good so it just wasnt shown...MFC really needs some equality with other leading teams. I believe we are on top of the ladder Quote
Brownie 6,086 Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 Hawkins = Geelong superstar and gets off Fritsch = Melbourne player one week for sure. And nothing will get done about Zeibel decking Fritsch behind play. Great game by Fritta today btw. He's really straightened up his kicking. 2 1 Quote
Nicko 1,390 Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 ? he gets nothing....averaging 3 goals/week We need him didn't Gawn tip him for the Coleman (maybe that was last year?) Quote
Graeme Yeats' Mullet 6,793 Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 Missed most of the game (blessing it seems) Anyone got a time stamp on this incident - I'd like to see it Quote

Flag 2021 143 Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 Have to say..... looked the guy in the eye and elbowed him in the face. Not that here's anything wrong with that BTW but I'd say it was a reportable offence, clear and simple. Quote
Demonstone 23,573 Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 There is a clip of the incident on afl.com.au. Quote
Lord Travis 10,819 Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 Not even worth citing. He took the ball and in less than half a second attempted to fend off a tackler who came in at waist height. If anything he should be commended for not taking the guys head off. Fantastic technique from Fritsch not to let his arm raise any higher. If he gets suspended then it’s basically confirmation that contact is no longer allowed. A player is allowed to defend himself when about to be crunched, and Fritsch should be commended for minimizing the damage. North player played out the match with no concussion also. Nothing to see here. 3 1 Quote
Pickett2Jackson 3,904 Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 Watched the replay a few times, nothing in it but they will give him a week as we are undefeated and the AFL will do anything to get the Swans in the top 4. Quote

Pates 9,697 Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 (edited) I think he gets a week unfortunately, head high contact and the guy had to be helped off the ground. It wasn’t deliberate, it was meant to be a fend off but unfortunately caught him with the elbow. Much like bumps I think if you choose to fend off and catch the player high then your in trouble. Might get a free pass with the player not being concussed, Powell coming low into the tackle, and Fritta having the ball, but I’d be planning for life without Fritta next week. siam juntaRus 92 Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 (edited) Just seen video from two angles. In 2nd angle view it looks deliberate. He's gone. No way he'll get off with a fine. High profile player would be 50/50 chance. MFC ...book two weeks in the snow.Fritsch is not Hawkins. Edited May 2, 2021 by siam juntaRus Quote
Clintosaurus 7,953 Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 Fox clearly want him out next week. Should be a fine only. Quote
BDA 23,048 Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 If it is assessed and medium impact and careless he'll get a week. Can't be worse than medium given phillips played out the game. It's line ball i reckon. Quote
Bring-Back-Powell 15,549 Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 Hopefully they assess it as medium and not high. The difference between 1 and 2 weeks. 1 Quote

Had no time to avoid so the benefit of doubt might look after him. There is no way Fritsch gets rubbed out for the high contact. He had the ball and pushed off the players shoulder/head to change direction. It is a completely different action to a bump when you don't have the ball. Quote
