Gutsy win.

Norf threw everything at us early. Just an aside what a player Cunnington is.

What Jackson and Kozzie did in the third was amazing. Jackson was much more effective than Max.

Fritta is all class. Watch the media string him up for his fend.

Langdon is some sort of player. Consistently consistent.

TMac back worked well in second half.

We missed Viney especially in first half.

Can someone explain why we went down in percentage on the ladder??

Simple maths.
If you start at 150% and don’t kick more that 1.5 x opponent’s score then % goes down.

That win was uglier than Ben Brown

Yes

No

Our percentage going into this game was 150.7. If our percentage for this one game is higher than that, our overall percentage goes up. Otherwise it goes down.

Our one-game percentage today is 141. So our overall percentage goes down.

The ratio of games per score will bring down the figure

You look after the knighthoods and I'll look after the maths

First reaction was that it was a poor performance where a few budding stars saved us from a humiliating loss. But also, that it’s been a graveyard for us for such a long time and it wasn’t unexpected.

Swans are another team that’s had the wood on us so we’d not want to replicate today

Not a pretty win, but I’ll take it.

Some really rubbish posting going on in the match day thread. Some folks need to put their phones away during the game and have their meltdowns in private.

Wise words. A lot of hyperventilating drama queens on this site.

@Better days ahead, sorry for being preachy, and I'll be preachy.

Don't let your own personal expectations of things that haven't even occurred yet (the game) - get in the way of your version of 'deservedness or not'. We won and we deserved to win. There was a truckload of adversity... and a truism in football is that, if you are a very good team (or above) and you can grind out a win, then that is a great win.

We just did that.

  • Viney out
  • Tomlinson out within the game
  • Ben Brown's first game (synergy as a forward line, taking time to adapt).
  • Baker in...

A range of things showed up for adversity... we did bloody well.

Preach away. Fair perspective.

I thought my MFCSS had left for good but turns out it was just on holiday. It's now back in its rightful spot, perched on my shoulder ready to set me straight whenever i get ahead of myself.

Lesson learned

A 30 point win in Round 1 will give a much higher % than a 30 point win in Round 22....

There were two main changes that got us back into it in the second half:

1 - a clear lift in pressure and intensity

2 - the move of TMac back to defence which allowed our usual defensive shape to get setup in Tomlinson’s absence

It wasn’t great, but we move on and use it as a reminder that you have to be on your game pressure wise or you will pay, regardless of the opponent.

Also to the supporters writing off the doggies because of a bad half against the reigning premiers. Today shows no team should be judged on their worst half. No team is perfect.

Might give this replay a miss. Bank the 4 points and move on

Watch the 2nd half. The work of Kozzie, LJ, Jordan and Fritta along with a few late cameo grunt bits from Clarry is worth a look.  But then there's the fact we were playing bottom of the ladder Norf to counter that argument.

Flip a coin maybe!

100% !!!

MFCSS is like the [censored] poltergeist.

There is no one on this forum that wasn't abusive to the team, to the umpires, to Tasmania, to whatever,  in their head at half time.

I’ve just woken up in the UK, this is very close to how I expected it to go. After the big high of last week we were off but 2% and the Kanga’s took us all the way. An ugly win is still a win, gutted for Tommo though. Career best form and now it looks like he’s out for the season. Fingers crossed for a miracle.

People are passionate about their side. Have you never been to a game ?

I don't like slagging players but today Melksham was more than horrible. Thought he showed no effort and was quire lazy. His non-effort to tackle Cunnington in our forward line was the last straw for me. That and him lazily manning the mark after ANB was done for one of his holding the ball's against. ANB also got up to man the mark but that cosy position was taken and he then had to rush off to re-position. I mean it was hime getting up from under a couple of blokes that tackled him. Summed up Melksham's day and attitude today for me.

Depending on how many “get out of jail free” cards a team gets per season, we just burnt one. Shambolic first half, much better second half, except when they played the first half of the last quarter like they were protecting the lead - all of 12 points - which was always going to backfire. Thankfully Cunnington (he is and always has been a mighty footballer) kicked the goal to prove that was true, and we woke up ...... mostly. Just realised they couldn’t have played any of Harmes (the obvious one) Sparrow, Chandler etc as replacement for Viney, cos they played two days ago. Bad luck for Tommo, bittersweet to see such genuine emotions....there’s a lot of investment out there. BBB .....hmmmm.

Jackson turned the game for us in the second half. Gawn was having a mare and Jackson went into the middle and just dominated. Him and Kosi and Fritta won it for us in the end.
So that’s a big positive.

The rest of the game, the less said the better.
Brown needs a lot of time to get going. He looks slow and rusty.
Kudos to Tmac for swinging back and holding his own. It can’t be easy.

Heartbreaking for Tomlinson. Petty will come in which is a great opportunity for him, but Tommo will be missed!

Haha nope. Just the live viewing will do me. I acknowledge the honourable mentions however

Now second Fav for the flag. Strange that Ben Brown was not in the middle for the song. First win with the team and all.

Horrible first half

But kicked 10 goals to 2 in the second

And we’re still undefeated and atop the ladder

Let’s do better next week Dee’s

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
