Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Farewell Oscar McDonald

I believe the regular comment by a few of the Oscar haters was “not AFL standard”.

Sometimes it takes a change of club to reinvigorate players. Good luck to him (though I hope he barely gets a kick against us!).

So happy for him.

Until we all go to the G on Saturday and watch our dysfunctional forward line in action.

Nooo

Just enjoy it BBP. Noone wants a dose of reality in the 4th quarter of a Richmond Carlton game.....

Crazy to think we never tried him forward. He’s been picked up and first game, looks decent as fwd.

Its in the genes to play in the forward line, amazing what a new environment can do.

Go Omac. At least he wouldve offered decent backup unlike daw.

Not really, he generally offered very little and had heaps of goals kicked on him due to his lack of impact and brain fades, Georgiades kicked 3 goals on him on his AFL debut.....he was delisted for a reason and it wasn't because he offered decent backup, happy for him though as he did well tonight

While I think he was one of the worst footballers I've seen in red and blue, I'm glad he got himself another opportunity. Has always been a hard worker.

Though people have short memories. I remember back in 2019 where Goodwin started him forward against Collingwood to zero effect, and then last year against Sydney when he got shifted forward because he was absolute diabolical down back and again was just as worse.

He's a handy depth for Carlton and once they get there forward structure working, he's out.

Dazzle, Pickett etc I have to salute you It’s great that you have watched thousands of games but haven’t a clue as to what constitutes a useful footballer . Not a clue!  You and your ilk have rubbished this bloke unmercifully.
I suggest you watch Curling !

He got a downfield free kick, another free for not much in it, then a Carlton player kicked an up and under that landed in his hands. One nice tackle but M Pickett's a pretty ordinary player outside of grand finals and ran right in to him.

He could always strike a good penetrating drop punt when not under pressure and that's what he did twice.

Good on him for a couple of nice finishes but there's nothing to worry about yet in terms of letting a useful player go.

I still don't understand why we kept Mitch Brown and didn't keep another tall with position flexibility but I'm not sure that would've been Oscar.

Look old timer, I suggest you take the Rose coloured glasses off and take a hike. We've been a average [censored] club since 2006 because of having average footballers on our list like Oscar running around for far too long. It's [censored] like you that are happy accepting mediocrity for so long.

Even as a developing young tall like a Kaine Baldwin who was just picked up by Essendon. It's not like Brown is going to play many games at all this year even with a depleted forward line. Having a young tall in his position developing at Casey means we slowly faze out Tom McDonald next year when Brown and Weideman are up and going but also physically ready if either go down again.

If his second goal was not under pressure , I’ve never seen one

Dazzle, watch the two finals we played at the MCG in 2018 and tell me that Oscar is the useless crud you described . Tall, can kick , intelligent. You don’t let such blokes go

He has no agility or speed, you can't make it in today's game without it

Oh for goodness sake Farmer are you really that delusional? The 2018 finals means absolutely 0 to me after what we've dished up the past 2 years. Funny how you didn't mention the prelim when Oscar and Frost got absolutely towelled up by the WC forwards that in turn it forced the club to go out and get a ready made key defender because they knew as a coaching staff our defence was never going to hold up with those guys down back.

Our defence is the best its looked in years. The coaching staff knew what they were doing on this part.

We went on for a couple of years with Hogan. Please don't do the same with Oscar. Let's stay tuned on our players and not those that left please. It is over.

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
