Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Jayden Hunt Re-Signs for 2 years

We have a weak draft position in an already weak draft. We clearly don't rate next year's draft either, or we don't plan on having good picks. So this is a low risk high reward type of re-signing, where at best Hunt recaptures his 2017 form, and at worse he does the same as pick 78 is likely to do in the draft.

i still reckon he should be played where he played his best footy. in the backline

no fear, you can't have loose unit kicks like hunt (or t mac or frost or a myriad of others deployed there over the years) coming out of the backline

he's definitely most damaging forward of the ball - he's a good mark, roves the pack well, and is capable of hitting the scoreboard

now to just work on 100% intensity 100% of the time and providing a scintilla of defensive pressure

If they would pick him it would help

After the freeo game I posted that hunt should have played he would have ripped it up as a forward,  he kick 10 goals form a handful of games, always thought he should play half forward, and he is a dead eye d ick.

Very happy the club has signed up Hunt.

He has actually been the 3rd highest goal kicker over the past two seasons combined.

Remember watching him play what I think was probably his real break-out game against the GC at Carrara in 2017 and thinking wow - we have a player here.

Just think he needs something to click to solidify his role in the side and become a really valuable asset to the team.  I think we have a few like that with enough ability and potential which if realised will take us from being compeditive to genuine premiership contenders.  Don't think this means that Jayden and other need to star every week, but they do need to find a way to meaningful contribute to the team every week, even when they are well held or having an off day.

Agree with your comments. He has speed and if can up his presence and tackling pressure on his quiet days, will be able to perform small forward role similar to Tigers smalls!

This applies to a few Demons, lift intensity when they don’t have the ball, on their quiet days!

If Brown can add two goals a game, we only need another 1-2 goals out of rest of team on average and we make top 4! I look at Pickett, Hunt, Oliver, Fritsch kicking straighter, Jackson, it’s a minor improvement! Aside from Hunt all players under 24 listed here so reasonable to expect them to get better!

I find it intriguing. I like Hunt, I think he has some great assets, and he floats in and out of games. Now whether that is just the nature of him, or whether it is where the FD position him is up for debate.

As a byproduct of this, he flits in and out of the side.

So from my end, I am intrigued as to why Hunt would choose to stay, where that seems to be his 'lot'.

Unless of course, there is no interest for him elsewhere.

I don't mind Jayden as a player, but a two year deal for a twenty five year old coming off a season in which he played six games, averaging less than six touches? Unless he can add significant defensive pressure to his game, I can see him spending most of that time at Casey again.

I'm actually more surprised than Jayden hasn't explored his options elsewhere. Perhaps he did, and no one else was interested.

This actually feels like one of those dysfunctional relationships where both parties would be better off alone, but both are too scared to make the first move.

he's going to be a 9 year servant after this deal... let that sink in! how many chances does he get, he played 6 games this year ffs and he's been given two more years! give me a spell he's failed to nail down a spot back/forward/wing what are we waiting for.

not sure when we plan on beginning to be ruthless but this isn't it. AT ALL

Jayden may struggle now that his pre game dinner from Hampton's Indian Express is no longer available since it has been closed and Hari put it on the market.

I also don't think he's been the same player since he knocked himself out running into Sam Jacobs.  He was fantastic for us prior to that, and he's never quite hit the same heights since.

No idea if there is any correlation, but it's just a thought.

always thought the same, he was fearless despite being lighter than my dish cloth

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
