Who is #7 umpire?

Jeff Dalgleish. West Australian.

Alex Neal Bullen 1 disposal that quarter.

Someone again tell me what he brings to this side??

Very lucky the season is suspended.

Best news yet

I guess if there's any consoliation during these strange and uncertain times, it's that there is and always will be a constant in our lives: the utter ineptness of the Melbourne Football Club.

OMac playing well, at least. Don't think he's lost a contest and has looked far more proactive.

Goodwin is lucky that no coaches can be sacked because there is no money to pay out contracts. There is no discernible system or game plan and skill development is obviously not a priority.

Same old Melbourne they are careless can't hit a target by hand or foot. Viney the only one having a go. DISGRACEFUL! Goodwin is finished.

4 disposals per game?

If Goody mentions 'connection with our fowards' I think I'm going to spew up.

Into his third year now and its still 'chaos ball' (a term I really hated and even moreso when Goody confirmed that's what the game plan was)

He can run all day apparently.

Season over, AFL have alot to answer for if last nights events are true.

If we lose this, and the season is cancelled entirely, we would finish winless - which, to be fair, was a distinct possibility if we continued to play like this.

Didn’t think I’d care given the current situation, but geez that was frustrating. Mainly because it’s the exact same way we came undone last year.

Kicking goals would help, but we’ve been slaughtered defensively since Roos walked out the door. Can recruit all the defenders in the world, makes no difference when whatever the team structure is just let’s them waltz down the field at their leisure.

10 haphazard inside 50s v a few open forward line entries with no pressure. Same old same old.

West Coast a class above. Whenever finals come round, they'll be front and centre, just so much talent from one end to the other.

How did the dud centre bounce straight to Naitanui not get recalled? That was just a joke.

Great to see our skills have improved.  Can't remember the last time we had a side that could do the basics off the game well

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
