Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Governments should spend in a downturn to stimulate the economy

They will but the community benefit coming from upgrading an exclusive facility for an elite sporting club in South Yarra is very low.

If we can mount a case for community benefit well and good but I just cannot see it.

You have to have some community integration, we need to have something to sell to the government to invest in

well lots of other clubs have managed to incorporate this, i don't see why we can't. besides it's a good and worthwhile thing to do.

It was interesting listening to the players comments at the Casey training sessions in the past couple of days.  To paraphrase " good to be at Casey because it is close in size to the MCG, so we can practice using the space"  ( unlike Gosch's).

I noticed that (Jake Lever I think).  It's pretty telling that one of the leaders of our backline identified this as a significant shortcoming of Gosch's and a particular strength of Casey.

You could couple that however with him saying 50 minute drive about 17 times...

Casey Fields could be a realistic long-term option if they can build a Cranbourne bypass.  At the moment, the traffic is a nightmare and is the kind of thing that would turn players/recruits off.

I hear what you say about travelling time TPF but I think the travelling time is overdone a bit. Take Lever, do you think he would not have accepted a lucrative contract if he had to travel to Casey. Not too sure. I also believe it is overlooked that some players , maybe country boys could choose to live beyond Cranbourne, even as far as places like Phillip Island or Inverloch if they are into the beach lifestyle.

With the social distancing rules requiring 4m2 per patron, could we partner with Crown to deliver a training ground and facilities as part of an extension to the Casino go spread out the gaming floors across additional facilities. This provides for community integration, as who doesn't like to play the slots or play their hand at Poker, while increasing State Government revenue and could also include a new Terminal for the Skybus between airport and gaming facilities. Get it done Melbourne!

Hard to believe anything both of those have to say.  Moorabbin to Seaford....really.   Didn't seem to worry Hawthorn who moved from Glenferrie to Waverley and are now heading to Dingley.

I cannot understand this, Why wouldn't Hawks go back to Heartland and redevelop Glenferrie Oval?? Beautiful patch of grass and conveniently placed Dingley??? WTF

Not sure if this has been discussed but I wonder with Coronavirus happening whether perhaps Casey will be looked at as more of a long term permanent option. Currently it's the only ground we have available to be able to do closed sessions, which is definitely something required for the foreseeable future.

Government would pump money into high performance sports at Casey. Most of it is already there with athletics track.swimming complex etc

Again Port Melbourne is an emerging community precinct that can be easily incorporated into an elite trading facility.

I’ve got no issue if we move out there permanently.

My only concern is it’s so bloody windy out there and would the players be happy to travel there day in day out?

There is space to expand the oval size at Goach’s paddock. It’s not earmarked as green space, so get a few trees cut down and move the footpath. Expand the oval size. Sounds like a far cheaper and more realistic option given the current financial pressures on the league and clubs

can't see the tigers leaving punt road, but stranger things have happened!

Richmond will soon be swimming in money and will be looking at what to do with it.

They'll keep Punt road as a community base and develop a full training complex wherever. May not start for 5-10 years but the Tigers Board would be remiss if they don't have a working group looking at the possibilities.

They might grab Gosch's Paddock,  from under our noses.

Yes, likely with Vic park and Glenferrie as models of how to do it.

Gosch's plus Punt Road could work for Richmond. Not perfect but definitely worth evaluating on the assumption MFC might go elsewhere.

That's what I was getting at.

I think we should plant our flag into Gosch's turf,  now.

Eddies recently been speaking on our behalf,  bless his silk socks.   He reckons we should blow,  down to Fisherman's Bend.  Since when did eddie do any other club a favour.

Maybe he would like Gosch's, for the Magpiss,  as they're one oval, they say,  is problematic.   The Tiggers to.

Its time we took a stand.   Planted our feet within strolling proximity to our Home-Ground,  and make the statement for all to hear.  Big 'C'  melbourne.    Commitment.!

Commit. Commit.  Commit.....   you cannot take it with you.

# PS:   there is room for two...   two Mcg sized ovals, on Gosch's.  Just have to kick the others off and re-jig the placement of the ovals,  then redraw the walkway between them.

No trees need be harmed,  for the ovals new layout.

Richmond is not going to move and nothing will happen at Port Melbourne been talked about for years and a line through it

Of course Richmond won't move from Punt Rd oval. That is their history.

But they would jog around the corner to train on Goschs,  just as they have done before,  in the 80's.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
