Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The only thing I can think of here is that Sydney don’t want to encourage teams to make high bids on academy picks given they have a few coming next year.

Or, Occam's razor says that it is probably because they don't rate him as the best player at pick 5. Likely not even the best player of his type.

Then they kind of tricked GWS to trade up with Adelaide, which also tipped the Giants hand that they were getting ahead of a bid. Seems incredibly low risk for the Swans to bid. Surely Freo bid just to keep them honest. GWS aren’t taking picks 40, 59 and 60, they are using them to match!

Not sure y we are so into this kid, under sized ruck by modern standards and not shown enough as a key fwd IMO and those are speculative enough as is with high picks, surely we need a player like Hayden Young more, hard to see any return on this kid inside the next 4 years

My mate, who goes for Fremantle, has been keeping a close eye on Jackson, this is what he had to say:

“If Melbourne pick up Luke Jackson at pick 3 it will be an absolute prize... he is Josh Kennedy esk in the air and Nic Nat on the ground and probably Patty Ryder in the ruck... if you haven’t watched his highlights tape, you should... he is full of talent and will dominate the comp for the next decade”

A bit over the top or does anyone share his views? Obviously I hope he’s spot on.

Will he still be available at pick 3?!

Yes, it does seem like Taylor is a bit of a basketball fan. I think I heard somewhere that Pendlebury used to play b'ball as well.

Well, maybe if they don’t work out, we could start a MFC Basketball team lead by Bradke and Jackson ?

I’m off work at the moment so watched almost the entire AFL Draft telecast via the app. Cal Twomey said that he had asked a number of recruiters who they’d take at three and he said the majority did not hesitate to say Jackson.

I know this fact won’t sway the Demonland experts but seriously cannot wait to giggle at the reaction on here to Jackson’s name being called at Pick 3.

I have questioned the possible Jackson pick, as have many others.

If we take him, I will still be very excited. He will be a Demon player,  thats all that matters. Also I have been wanting the club for years to bring in some X  factor and flair,  and they are doing that.  Its great.

Let's hope we get the right one at 3.

The latest draft predictor from the Adelaide journo's has us taking Jackson at 3 and no bid on Green. Tactically GWS take Ash at 4 and Sydney make a bid for Green which GWS match  so Green goes at 5. Sydney then get pick 6(Flanders) Adelaide have 7 (McAsey) Freo 8 ( Robertson a W.A. boy) Freo have next pick 8 (Stephens) Carlton bid for Henry at 10 which Freo match. That means Freo get picks 8,9,& 10 wow. At 11 Carlton may go for Serong leaving MFC with pick 12 and in this mock draft Young is still there and so is Picket.

Young might slide to 28, that would be great

1 jackson

10 pickett

28 young

Go home factor is impossible to ignore. It's going to be a big risk taking Jackson. I think he'll be good but Perth is just so different to Melbourne. Hope the club has interviewed the bejeesus out of him to make sure he's not a flight risk.

Absolutely no chance that Young will be available at pick 28. He will be picked in the first round without a doubt.

Maybe we need to rethink the way we acclimatise Jackson to Melbourne. The current plan seems to be boarding with a caring host family then quickly in to a share house with team mates in a nice inner city suburb with lots of things to see and do.

We might be better off just dumping him in a dilapidated house in Cranbourne (near to Casey) or even better Frankston (right by the beach) with a few meth addicted neighbours and plenty of bogan in the air. Buy him a jetski and he won't even know the difference (until June).

I don't particularly like comparing players with chattels and I hope he doesn't want to leave, but if he's a good player and wants to go home, he's still a valuable asset. It's not like he would go home leaving us with nothing in return.

I Agree.  Why has there been very little on the go home factor especially to WA.  The processes now mean contracts are worthless if someone wants to leave compared to the old days. The kid might spend a year at Casey and wonder ' what the hell'.

I can see 5 - 6 years of a Jesse Hogan type angst each off season.

Be warned .

Word is we won't be bidding on Green because we are set on Jackson.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
