Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

We led all day, except for two minutes, which was due to having no bench and some dodgy  umpiring when the umpires seem to become stimulated by the Blues surge, we had  more shots, clearly deserved to pull the game out of the fire,

We had the rub of the green most of the day from the umpires. They evened it up at the end but we can’t use umpiring as a reason we almost lost

I was at the game - we completely dominated Carlton for 3 quarters. By half time, the game should have been over - instead, our inaccurate kicking and inability to stop them scoring immediately after our goals, kept them in it. In the end, it was a relief to get over the line, but we deserved the win.

I wasn’t aware that we were 3 rotations down in the last - only knew that TMac hadn’t returned - but some of our boys looked cooked, which would have helped Carlton’s momentum.

Our forward line without TMac tried hard, but really missed some grunt - Weid doesn’t seem close to dominating yet. It’ll be interesting to see if they keep Preuss in with Gawn as a resting forward: he did some good stuff today.

I noticed that we are starting to spread the ball much more now - maybe a change to the game plan?

Otherwise, some great stuff, some terrible stuff: story of our season, really. Still - deserved the 4 points, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Tmac meniscus tear... probably season o er but the season is over anyhow.

Is that confirmed?

So long as it’s not his ACL I don’t care. This season is dead anyway!

Was there really 55.5k in attendance? It was loud on the telly, how was it at the ground?

It was a good crowd - loud especially in the last quarter, when Carlton came back into it. That horrible feeling and noise when the opposition is coming back on top of you!

It that figure is correct ( who would doubt the honesty of the AFL) I reckon it was 50k Carlton and 5.5 MFC.

Seems some on here would like us to go 0-22 every year.

We won. Beats losing every time. By a mile.

I love winning, and I'm happy we won. So long as the euphoric feeling of beating the 2nd last team in the league (going through their latest rebuild) doesn't detract from the fact that the nature of today's win is reflective of the trouble we're in, and the questions that we need to ask. I appreciate that we're a few players down right now (as were they), but we bulldozed them last year, and squeaked through today.

But absolutely, I'll take the four points as long as we don't feel this was any significant step forward, as it wasn't. We have a long way to go.

Pretty much doing what every team has been doing since round 6.

Is Clayton Oliver the worst umpired footballer in the history of the game?

First it was calling his lightning handballs throws, and now he's held at every contest, rarely wins a free kick. I dare say he doesn't have much chance of ever winning a Brownlow.

Yep and the reason why is that every single umpire sees him as their alter ego. Gives a bit of cheek, but ah no can"t give this bloke a free coz he's too Blue collar with an aura of Brilliance . Unlike myself!! That's why I never played footy and became......... An umpire!

Big loud crowd. Definitely more Carlton supporters who have a distinct lack of understanding the rules. At quarter time I moved to a more civilized area where I wasn't getting my seat kicked or having my hearing damaged.

Interestingly I was on the aisle and did not see any security whatsoever.

The might just not know which ones to call as he plays for them in every contest and complains about every single call.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
