When is the acid going to be put on Melbourne’s woeful season

It seems Goody and his assistants have escaped much needed criticism this season by the press.

No one from the club has applied any pressure to the coaching or player group.

just a weak club that is happy just to survive and be irrelevant

members and supporters won’t to see some passion.

I doubt there will be any acid from here in 2019.

If you recall, the blowtorch started to go on us fairly early on in the season, when we were still a good chance to turn it around and get through to finals. It put additional pressure on us to start winning, and in true Melbourne fashion we couldn't handle it.

Now we're no hope the media couldn't care less about Melbourne. To them we are where we belong. If anything, they'll be giving themselves pats on the back for helping keep us down.

Gerard and Slobbo have promised to open up AFL 360 on Monday with a Melbourne lashing if we get done tomoz.

Make no mistake, this year has been an absolute disgrace. There has to be casualties at the end of the year. And our head coach must surely be put on severe notice if we win just 0-2 games for the rest of the year.

I keep defending our off season surgeries but apparently West Coast had 14 themselves and are now flying and probably flag favourites.

Yep that what good clubs do. They don’t make excuses.

I went to use this excuse last week when quizzed on our poor season but truth is that accounted for the first 5 or 6 rounds not now

Seeds were sown with last year's Prelim effort. Apparently that kind of insipid effort is acceptable to most fans of this club. There is no expectation and therefore things will never change.

You can see how today's game will go. Demons players will go in thinking they are so much better than Blues players that it's going to be an easy outing...and will refuse to tackle or compete with defensive intensity. We'll fall behind and the game will be decided by whether Goodwin can somehow extract some pride out of the group and get them to play like competitive grown ups in the 2nd half.

The blowtorch will come when Collingwood play better and there are no big club woes for click bait.  All other Vic clubs are up and about; only the Saints and Demons left to create dramatic headlines.  Then the media will not hold back: soft, unreliable, inconsistent, awful skills, poor game plan etc etc.

Even if we don't win many more games, I hope we play well enough for the blowtorch to not be too scathing.  I don't want our club to be 'burned' in the media as we don't need the negative exposure.  It feeds on itself then extends to members, fans, sponsors, TV etc.

Prefer we go under the radar externally but Pert and Bartlett turn up the heat internally.  I have little doubt they already have.  In one interview Pert said the mid year changes were a whole of club project and that 'Mahoney will own the outcomes'.  The spotlight is shining squarely on the whole football department, as it should.

Patience - we will hear more in 4-6 weeks when assistant coaches need to be told if they are being retained.

Almost word for word the 5 words I used to describe MFC in my member survey!

It will rightly be shone on Melbourne if we get a preseason into our players, have a reasonable run with injuries and don’t get into the pointy end of the season. Until then what is the point?

Please stop with this. No amount of injuries or surgeries turns a top 4 team into a potentially bottom 2 team.

You know the media have really had it when they start saying "what does this club stand for???". Which is completely meaningless and is code for "they're hopeless and I've given up on them"

They may start saying it about Freo this week. We've avoided it so far this year. Slobbo and Jon Faine Twately may unleash it if we lose.

Re-read what you just posted. It makes no sense at all. Great for bravado little in logic.

It makes perfect sense. Either you're illiterate or you can't face reality.

Yawn.  Same [censored], different author. Surely we wrote  this season off weeks ago. Any “passion” died then.

2019, a true “Clayton’s” season.

Actually later in the show they said that if Collingwood lose the opening blowtorch would be on them, they'd temporarily forgotten that there is a bigger vic club in a bit of strife atm. And you'd expect that given the ratings bonanza addressing the wobbles.

Look in the mirror.

No matter how good a club list or culture is, there becomes a point, where if you have too many players miss a pre-season and then have a heavy injury toll during the middle of the season it will stymie any chance of catching back up.

What heavy injury toll or missed pre-season resulted in the preliminary final result? Or our inability to come close to matching Collingwoods spread last year? Our game plan is outdated.

Then why is Collingwood being beaten by inferior teams? Should their magical game plan not protect them from the impact of injuries?

Listening to a bit of SEN Crunch Time yesterday, Danny Frawley mentioned Melbourne and why nobody was talking about them. Derm made some comment about nobody cares and Huddo quickly said we will get back to them later, I didn’t here the rest so not sure if they did, but wouldn’t surprise me if they didn’t. Because we are a small club and our coach has a long contract so there is is no blood about to be spilt.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
