Cool, let's play Max until he suffers a major injury from overwork and then maybe we can give Preuss a run.

Winning is still very important.....

Sadly there are potentially three more wins left SWYL for this year. Sadly both the above are in serious danager.

This mob beat Brisbane a few weeks so they are no easy beats for us. On top of that a change of coach has them looking interested on the field. Dees by a point if things go our way.

I would generally agree, but with no Cripps, McKay or Charlie Curnow we really should wipe the floor with this mob, despite our current malaise.

Momentum and confidence are funny things in sport though.

I'm tipping Maxy won't play.

Having said that there is no guarantee that Preuss will be his replacement. ?

Agree, it's got late withdrawal written all over it.

Still don't know why all the talls.

Maybe a few more late withdrawals

or they'll play May and Frost as smalls.

I'll stop now before this it turns into a poem.

Probably what Freo thought last week Dr. and we know how that ended.

Yep play the Benny hill music please.

We are a joke.

Unfortunately it has been worse than ever this year.

I have no  idea about what the boards KPIs are for pert and so no real sense of how he is travelling as CEO. Except in regard to communication.

Communication and supporter engagement is critical for teams long terms success and viability. i would argue it is never more critical than when a team i struggling. And responsibility for communication falls squarely at the feet of the CEO.

Really it is beyond ridiculous that the Pert could publicly say we are aiming for 70, 000 members (which is fine in of itself) and then allow our communication to be so woeful. I mean talk about a disconnect.

I have been banging on about this for years now. Time for me to put my money where my mouth is. I will go to the next AGM and ask why our communication has been so poor and what they plan to do about it.

I endorse this post x 2

You can even tell them you are "Ding from Demonland" if you dont want your rep tarnished.

Mine is already rubbish so i dont have anything to lose.

[censored] me Max better be 100% if they’re going to play him...

I don't know that any professional AFL player is 100% by this time of the season.

In fairness the club said he will be named and train Saturday before a final decision will be made.

The member survey just arrived via email. There's quite a chunk on club communication.

I suggest you (all) have your say on the matter.

I scored it very low. But not the staff on the membership line, they are always polite and helpful.

The son and heir is getting married tomorrow and there's a shindig on Sunday. I have been instructed that I won't be at the game.

Losing this has the potential to put a downer on a big weekend.

But it's only footy, right...

Don't worry Frankie. We'll smash them. Take it to the bank

Poor excuse

They've got to be taking Max out. If they were going to play him surely they'd pick a proper second ruck and limit his minutes on the ball.

Smells like a hamfisted scheme to me.

Still no Preuss ?‍♂️

WT complete F?

Poor old Preuss reminds me of when kids are choosing who they want on their team when they are playing a game among themselves. He is the big overgrown awkward kid hovering at the back of the smaller, more popular kids, his face getting more and more crestfallen as everyone is getting picked instead of him. Finally, he is the only one left and the captain of one of the teams (in movies this is usually the star, the kid who has his own battles with the bully of the story) is forced to take him on, with no conviction that this big lug is going to be any help at all to his cause.

Does Preuss wait until there is no one left to pick? Hope not!

Can someone explain the the rules of selection to me please

if Max pulls up crook Saturday morning we bring Preuss in and this is all quite legal

Is that correct?

Yes indeed it is

I guess we’ll know at 2pm tomoz as to whether or not Max is playing, with Preuss named in the vfl

Unless, of course, they decide in their infinite wisdom to ruck T Mac and Weed in tandem...

Like most I’m expected Jones and Gawn late outs for Preuss and pick a Wagner, any Wagner (probably Josh, to play back, with Lewis in as a midfield rotation)

Believe that Preuss will be held over regardless. They can still pull Max out right up until game time.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
