OK, its here.  I think this is a really important one.  Have we ‘turned the corner’ or was the hawks game just a blip?  How we play and getting the chokkies is so important today.

Channeling 2016 and 2017:

We'll be given a run in the first half and then smash it open in the second. I will still be annoyed and mostly bored.

Expecting a close game. GC have been pretty competitive all year. Dees by 72.

First game all season ive been confident of a win.   Called the Round  1 loss to Port unfortunately.

We will win by 10 goals minimum today and continue our road back from 1-5 all the way to a deep finals run

Scrappy game to the point where I’ll be wanting to gouge my eyes out with a butter knife.

Suns by 17 points.

Season red rover.

Suns have rightly been given credit for their start to the season. However, they are 3-4 with a percentage of 76 compared to same round last year (3-4, 81%) when we played them.

So a loss here would demonstrate how dramatically we’ve fallen off the cliff.

With that being said, we should be winning this one.

Serious danger game..... should win comfortably.... either we lose by 10 or win by ?

not even game to predict which one!

Always tough these games, win & it’s “oh only GC”. Lose and it’s “how bad losing to GC” We simply must just bank the 4 points to keep the season alive, try keep building on 2 wins a row and keep this season alive. A loss and it’s curtains obviously

Well I have no idea what to expect. I don't have foxtel so can't watch it at home so will be checking the scores. I hate listening to game on the radio when you can't see what is happening.

But I expect to win, I hope we do and there are no injuries.

GC getting a few good players back and up there, it'll be tough. Think we will get done by 3-4 goals

We should get the job done in a scrappy game by about 20 points. Similar to the Sydney game

I predict that if we lose watch the 'Sack Everyone...', and 'Sack X' threads be resurrected with a vengeance!

In which case a self imposed holiday from DL for a few days to avoid the meltdowns will be a good idea.

Dees by 10 points, perhaps. With OMac in, might have to concede the game to the GC, with runners sneaking in behind him for shots  at their goals - often. If Omac comes off for the bench, a 20 point win to the Dees.

As I'm confident of a  win I would have loved to escape the chill by going north to watch this game. However, as there is something of a cash flow crisis at The Manor, I shall settle for the big screen.

For once let’s support the team regardless 56. OMac bashing 5 hours before the bounce hey? Let’s at least wait until 5 minutes into the game before it commences.

Not sure how many times we have to read about how useless he is to some.

C’mon Demons!

Ditto.......hate hearing our players get bagged.

He’s not alone- most key forwards are struggling - ? New rules.

Win or lose today I don't think will mean much. Wet coke, GWS, Adelaide and the filth. Given our form we would be lucky to win one of them.

Yeah i dont know.....on paper yes but i think West Coast are not traveling all that well in 10th spot and falling, ......Pies are beatable, as are Adelaide. GWS shaping as the hardest of the 4. Today will go a ways to indicate further how we may fair...

For next 4 weeks I'm going to be taking a uni course at RMIT and will be finishing today about 5 mins before the ball is bounced. Most likely gonna have to duck in to one of those terrible Lygon pubs..

Anyhoo, yeah big game but let's face it they all are from here on in. Not flashing forward or jumping ahead in my mind just looking forward to finishing today and seeing me some red and blue go around.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons have the Bye next week but then are on the road once again when they come up against the Gold Coast Suns on the Gold Coast in what could be a last ditch effort to salvage their season. Who comes in and who comes out?

  • POSTGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
