Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

We deserve to be another goal or 2 closer, we wasted some opportunities that quarter.

Dunno how we can be even this close when, apparently, 20 of the 22 selected are pathetic, terrible and VFL standard.

When the ball hits the ground he is out of the contest.  The OP just runs off at will for an easy disposal up the field.  For any goals Weid might kick through a traditional mark and kick goal on the lead he will bleed just as many through his opponent having a free reign the other way.  One of a few reasons our forward line is a dog's breakfast and all other clubs know this and exploit it.

Yet we continue to persist with the Weids experiment year after year....Goody / Macca and Co...get serious FFS or our premiership window is finished and off we go on yet another rebuild!

lot of players underdone I for one didn’t expect to win this.

we have been pretty awful yes but we are winning clearances tackles and inside 50s.

We warmed into that 2nd Qtr.    Still need to wrestle back some more momentum.

We look like a scratch team of guys who can play a bit but never have with each other. Just win the contested ball and hack it forward and hope. Unrecognisable from last year.

Hunt, KK and Jetta - 7 possessions between them - shameful

Jetta has runs on the board.

KK not setting the world on fire but conditions don’t suit him and it’s half time in his first game for a new club.

Hunt I think he looks like he has his mojo back but I might be looking through my rose coloured headband.

Cannot believe all the negative energy on this page. I thought I was looking at Bombers page instead. We lost that quarter by a point !!!!! We've been good in the second half of most games recently. Tough to win down at Geelong. You get no help from the umps as the crowd make the decisions. Oliver Brayshaw, Viney, KK Salem, Gawn have been great. The commenators dribble all over Duckwood and Ablett but its been the Cats young guys that have played well.

I predict a Dees comeback in this quarter

Most games arent played in these conditions.

You're doubling down. If that's the case there's no reason why any one team should be definitively better than the other in these conditions.

Our entire gameplan is built around contested ball. We should thrive in the wet, not struggle.

Playing with no structure and a complete inability to adjust the game plan to suit the conditions and what the opposition throws at us.

Continuous fumbles and poor decisions puts us under pressure, allows Geelong to fill the hole and then break away from our players that are caught napping too often.

So much space for them in their forward 50. Hard to see on TV why this is the case. Are our defenders pushing too high? Lack of accountability?

So many armchair critics here. Its wet, really wet. They play much better wet weather footy than we do. We stemmed the bleeding that quarter and we are still in it. Our forward line is the big problem, we just fall apart once its past the half forward line. Its not going to change much tonight, but lets hope an answer can be found.

Cant help it im an optimist. Where are you @Wiseblood ?!

yes it is wet, just look at how poorly geelong is going in the same conditions.  We have too many passengers, players not chasing, geelong players running around us because if we even both to try to tackle they just step around us.  McDonald cannot be the player he was last year because the ball is firstly not getting down the forward line too often and when it does he is usually up the field trying to push it down to a lone petracca, who is sadly losing every contest either by being outplayers or [censored] poor skill errors.

Jones and weiderman have been fumbling everything that came their way.

Does not look good though we did seem to recover a little in the last half of that quarter. still all in all a woeful performance from a team that wants to play finals football, without doing the hard yards.

This is typical of the game day threads I take it? I'm usually too busy watching the game but thought I'd jump on to gauge the mood. I should've known better.

and we wasted a lot more possessions in the 1st. we had it but coughed it up overusing it manically.

We showed a bit more composure in the 2nd.   And the Cats tired imo,  just a little.

We can come out hard in the 3rd and even things up.

I'm here, mate.  Only jumped on at half time as I know exactly what this thread will be like.

Conditions are horrible, we're playing in hostile territory and we're in touch... just.  That's a positive right there.

We're struggling forward of the ball, and that's down to the weather, a few players being out of form and the fact that the Cats still have a good, and underrated, defensive unit.

If we keep up the pressure and work out butts off then, hey, who knows?  Maybe we can give ourselves a sniff.  We're certainly not out of the contest.

Hallelujah im with you. Thanks for the level headedness. 3 goals down in shocking conditions on a hostile ground and people want the coach sacked. 5 years ago we would have been 12 goals down.

We are making a lot of mistakes. If we could find an answer up forward we can hang in there. Oliver has been great.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
