Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

New CEO - Gary Pert

Just read that too. I'm normally glass half full on anything MFC but very concerned about this.

I was told by a passionate Collingwood supporter who both he and wife had independent professional dealings with Pert that Pert was toxic at Collingwood. When I was told this Collingwood had just done it's review and Pert left. he even said to bet on Collingwood to make finals after he left because rifts would be healed.

Gary pert was moved on for one reason & one reason only ( think Simon Lethlean) ...you can state whatever “passionate” Collingwood supporter etc or whatever else you have heard but this is 100% fact.   The filth will be “filthy” because love them or hate them...(i’m In the latter).....he is an amazing operator...well done Dee’s !!!

Who would you trust to build a training base at Gosch's?

Josh Mahoney - jointly in charge (with list management committee) of allocating a salary cap amongst the 44 players and doing some trade deals, as well as resourcing the coaches and players

Or:

Gary Pert - overseen a club that turns over maybe 77 mil in revenue and has built the Holden Centre with all the same stakeholders to deal with.

If we are smart and rate Mahoney so highly then the succession will actually be from Pert to Mahoney after Pert has built us a training base.

I think that it is a misrepresentation of the reality, but the man himself said he will not be involved in the decision.

And why would he be, he is is leaving.

Board decision, you’d think they’d take some advice from PJ but it’s the Boards call.

If Mahoney wants to be a CEO surely he should be willing to spend some time in the business side of the club rather than just the footy side which he currently operates. I know he has been to uni and has various degrees, but at the end of the day they are just bits of paper. Nothing prepares you to do the job other than being involved in doing the job. He's got no experience in business as far as I am aware other than being in the footy department. I'm all for promoting from within but appointing Mahoney ahead of a candidate like Pert would be close to stupidity in my opinion.

What I do know was that he resigned around the time they appointed Peter Murphy to do an external review of the club.

That indicates to me that the results concerning him coming from that review may not have been particularly flattering. I don't know particulars but that alone is worrying.

I think Murphy is a guy who was making waves about the lack of independence  of the CFC board (all Eddie appointees) and Eddie hushed him up by having him do the review. Easy to see that that could have rubbed Pert the wrong way.

Tom Browne's tweet raises an interesting point.

I got the feeling that we would be promoting internally. Maybe I was mistaken.

I hope Perty isn't in the change for change's sake camp. While I'm sure he has his own ideas and is entitled to them, we don't need major change off field. That part of the club has been purring like a well oiled machine.

Currently the club is in a stable position, however the club has just made a big decision to give up a cash cow (pokies). Over the next couple of years the club is going to have to raise revenue significantly. The club might be purring like a well oiled machine now but it's going to take a good operator to replace the revenue we have chosen to relinquish.

From what I can tell Pert has a good network in the media through TV and radio. I'm hopeful that he'd be able to leverage off that to raise the clubs profile and in the process drive revenue higher. Hopefully he can help negotiate a better fixture for more exposure through free to air games and then raise more through sponsors and the onflowing effects.

"My sister is friends with Margie Amarfio who was at the club for a decade. She says Pert was good to work with. Didn't seem to me like there was a split in the admin or bad blood etc in there. Just time for a change, as banal as that."

Collingwood needed someone to blame last year when the [censored] hit the fan and unfortunately, Perty was the man to cop the bullet.

So he was at Collingwood for 11 years as CEO and he was deemed a liability when the team was underperforming. Please, he'll be fine has bucket loads of experience in PJ we trust.

From memory PJ’s time at Essendon didn’t end well either and that turned out ok for us.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
