I don't remember all of those games, but the ones I do were great!

One game I also enjoyed with my brothers from the Ponsford stand was the 1998 Queens Birthday match. I think it may have been Big Jim's 250th. But Shaun Smith was the difference.

Terrific post Big Carl - some great memories in amongst all those games listed.

I'd add ...

Melbourne vs Sydney MCG SF 1987 (R Flower 4 goals in a 76 pt victory)

Melbourne vs Collingwood MCG SF 1988 (our backline was on top all day)

On both occasions it meant that we'd advanced to a Preliminary final ... you'd take that now in a heartbeat.

Melbourne vs Adelaide 2002 Semi FInal

A loss unfortunately,  but an incredible game.

And this,  eliminating Essendrug from the finals, Stynes dominating and Jakovich kicking 8

Good list.

What about the vs WC game in 98? We'd lost by 100 points each of the past two weeks and were paying like $10. No one gave us a chance. We went over with a bunch of kids and rolled the Eagles.

Great  list  but   my  best  would  be  rd7   2008  vs  fremantle.  51  pts  down  in  the  3rd  qtr  and  we  got  up  and  won  by  7  pts.

Millars  best  game,  strong  all  day ,  just  pushed  over  dockers  all  day.

Aussie  Wonaeamirri  terrific  last  qtr,  Robbo  marked  everything  and  kicked  well  also  in  the  last  qtr.

And  you  just  had  to  love  Daveys  run  and  long  gaol  in  the  third.

Its  a  pity  only  19400  people  bothered  to  go,  we  lost  $6000  but  got  the  4pts.

When  the  Dees  go  bad  and  I  need  a  pickup  this  is  the  game  I  put  on.

I always put in the ESS vs Melb game at Windy Hill in 1990 when we were down by over 5 goals in the last quarter.

Shirtfronts, great marking and 4 last quarter goals from Darren Bennett all from outside 50m. Not a final but a great win!!

Agreed, that game was a ball tearer! This year's win against West Coast was a beauty as well, my favourite win of the year.

I’ve posted this a few times - but the last 8 games of ‘87 (including the first two finals, but not the never to be watched or mentioned PF) was just the most exciting 2 months of football one could ever imagine. Never to be forgotten.

Western Bulldogs round 21 2005 needing to win to keep our season alive... Down by under 4 goals with 5 minutes to go and Jeff White kicks the winner from 50m with seconds left, Daniher running down the southern stand through the supportera fist pumping... Spine tingling stuff

Happy to say in recent times I was at Geelong v Melb in 2015 one of the few to stay til the end for Corey Enrights 300 ???

AND

For some unknown reason went to Adelaide last year and watch us Stone the Crows to the tune of 41pts!!

A great list and I can say that I was at 19 of the 20 games only missing the Sydney game where Schwarta kicked that bag.

I'd contend there are two others worthy of consideration.  The Melbourne v Brisbane game in 2002  in Brisbane where we were about 6 goals down at quarter time and won.  Ward and Neita standouts.  The other was I think 2005 R21 v Western Bulldogs.  Jeff White kicked two late last quarter goals and we won by 3 points to keep our finals hopes alive.

No love at all for round 14 2002?

We played a Brisbane Lions team at the peak of their powers and were down by 42 points only to come back and win by two goals roughly. Neitz kicked 7 from memory.

Round 22 vs Hawthorn 1996.

The narrowest of losses but that match was a classic in front of a big crowd.

A heap of highlights in that game.

Dunstall 10 on the night and 100 for the season, Neitz 4 in the first quarter and finishes with 6 and the Wiz turning the match on its head with a 3 goal burst in 5 minutes during the third.

Round 4 1998, Carlton v Melb at Princes Park. Dees by 2 pts. Absolute cracker, within a goal all day. Nobody kicked a goal for the last 10 mins and the ball richocheted from one end to the other. It felt like one goal would finish it either way. I can’t remember having felt better leaving the ground giving [censored] to my blues supporting best mate.

I remember this game because I left early thinking it was over for us. My daughter who was 7 at the time had to get to a girlfriends sleep over. So I left thinking it was another lost and season over. Didn’t listen to it on the radio on the way home. Went through the front door and my wife   Said “your home early after such a great win” Never forgave myself for that one. Watched the reply many times.

what was that game against freo when Brock Mclean Dominated and Peter Vardy was kicking them from everywhere in pouring rain over in the west. I remember we were big underdogs that day and could not believe what I was seeing.

Last ever game at Princes Park, not a great game but it was great to spoil the party for them. We were up by 10 goals at 3/4 time, ended up winning by about 20 points I think.

They kick a goal at around the 10 minute mark  to go 5 goals up, beat them running away, at Windy Hill, they play in the grand final, should have been us!

2004 I think - last win in Perth before this year!

Only two games this side of 2000? Ouch.

If these are the two selected however, I got greater joy from beating the Hawks last year.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
