Absolutely, Dogs have stuffed this whole Stringer saga terribly. He is no alter boy but worth the risk - if we dont land him as I said earlier wish the boy luck he is an amazing football talent that can be obtained for a relatively reasonable price.

You just don't get it. His ex felt let down by the club because they wouldn't listen to her warnings. But she also said that you can only help someone who wants to be helped.

Stringer is the sole issue, not his ex-wife and not the club. He was the one who divided his teammates and the club with his off-field behaviour. His amazing football talent (your words, not mine) or his market value, doesn't come into it.

I would ask the leadership group whether it could work - gut feel, that in 2017, that LG would say 'let's talk to him .'

I would also be asking the coaching staff are they prepared to back themselves.

I would be asking if our administration team is prepared to offer the support structures some players need.

This is so Dusty Martin vs Scully/Trengove all over again. We all know what happened there Dusty wins a Brownlow and leads his team into a grand-final but no alter boy.

No it's not. This is more like Fevola and Carey getting kicked out of their respective clubs, because talent isn't the be all and end all. They had off-field issues that impacted their teammates. How did they fair at their new clubs?

I am happy to draft 'non-altar boys' but here is a bloke that allegedly cheated on his wife-to-be and mother of his children with schoolgirls. Plural.

Not the same as a wayward teenage Martin. If Dusty had done that before he was drafted, it would not even be the same - he would have been screwing schoolgirls as a schoolboy...

Sounds like a messed up individual and the young girls don't seem far off either according to the article.

Obviously I know nothing as to what transpired but why would those young girls send pics and texts to his partner?

Pretty tacky way to air your dirty laundry. Two days ago it was all about her new breasts and new man.

For the sake of my kids, I'd tone it down. Each to their own I suppose.

Don't get me wrong, Stringer is a filthy man-[censored], I hope he still goes to Essendon.

I agree Ethan- it must have been all her fault.

That seems odd to me. But the fact Stringers ex says multiple girls sent her texts makes me think there is more to it. It just makes no sense.

Same here Wrecker. We all have our own opinions but that just seems spiteful, if they simply had enough just tell him to F off.

I'm wondering if the girls & gambling are just the tip of the iceberg...

Unfortunately past history seems to tell us that footy clubs couldn't care less if that's all their player is up to.

The Doggies reaction to the wife indicates this is still the case.

So what gives?

Have you not seen or known any teenage girls over the last decade???

It's a very teenage girl thing to do. They'd see it as scaring off the competition and getting one up.

Watched the grand final today and all I could think of was the fact we are only a player or two off being right there in the mix.

I was against stringer a week ago, but watching the delight of tigers fans made me wish it was us out there celebrating a win.

I'm sick of waiting for a flag, if Stringer is available he makes us better.

Let’s face Goodwin can’t even get the best out of Jack Watts what chance has he got with a proper lost cause like Stringer?

What Stringer allegedly did to his wife was appalling, but how does that make him a 'proper lost cause?'

Like any other person, a player is going to respond differently in a new environment with new players and staff around him. He's a young guy who made a huge mistake and will no doubt regret it for a long time. I'd be happy to cut him some slack and see how he goes in a new environment.

Yes, just make sure he doesn't attend any high school box socials or whatever it is kids do these days.

I dare say, because there's more.

I wouldn't touch Stringer unless he does a G.A senior and finds God (and the footy)

Look what good that did for Yarran on the footy field

Remember stringer according to the article also seems to have a gambling issue. We have been through that with ox.

Also u are wondering why girls are sending photos to the ex. Its to boast and rub it in that not only did they sleep with a footy player but also her husband.

Unfortunately social media can be very unkind

I think he found him after he left the toigs.

I probably should amend what I said to 'I wouldn't touch him even if he does a GA senior...'

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
