Ok then let's go with a non midfielder.

Watts has 13 Brownlow votes from 153 games.

Jesse Hogan has 14 Brownlow votes from 51 games.

I still think Hogan would make a magnificent midfielder

So, I'm claiming him

Sorry

Good luck at Port Jack. Good luck in your business. Happiness and health.

Look forward to seeing you back with the Demons as an ex player when your footy career ends.

I went to one of the preseason games at Casey and they had him start in the guts for the first 5 mins of each quarter before drifting forward. Had his hands on it every bounce, I can see what you see there

I like Robbo. A cheerful bloke and without doubt loves the Dees. The Robbo/MFC dynamic has worked well on and off the field.

But if we're honest there was a time we played RobboLotto. Here we'd turn up to a game not knowing which Robbo would ! The electrifying forward or the lazy shlt that just couldn't be bothered and sooked. Gladly the better one showed up mainly, but not exclusively.

Id be careful denoting anothers career. RR himself only got 17 charlies out of 228 games !! Just saying ;)

Suppose we're all entitled to an opinion

Jack Watts needed to leave his Demons behind .

I would suggest that the Demons also needed to leave Jack Watts behind. The FD wanted it and we got the best deal we could get.

Port Adelaide was his only realistic destination. The word is that the Cats gave Jack a hard mark on his interview and, after that were not going to take him.

Life goes on ... good luck at Port - Jack.

This is what’s wrong with Demons supporters. A player who DIDN’T give his all on field, who was lazy, didn’t do what the coaches asked of him, didn’t tackle properly and had high end talents that he wasted time and again is a favorite son who will be welcomed back with open arms. I’m going to spew.

I think Jack should be welcome back. Hell, Colin Sylvia got a life membership!

That said, one thing that galls me about our club is that as Neeld found out, we seem to be about everything but bloody football.

Captains get chosen because they ‘speak well and can be a good representative of the club in public’. Players should be retained because they are ‘good with kids and supporters as well as being a good bloke’.  It seems wins and delivering the goods on the pitch seem to be of secondary concern for some.

If Jack wants to hang around the bullring bar and share a jar with a few ex players then I have no issue. Unless his attitude does a 180 degree turn, I don’t want him near the playing group.

Response to @ChewyOnMyBoot

Can you please wish him all the best from me and I hope he's okay

Thanks

Sure will. Before Jack headed overseas, he was certainly pleased the dealing was over (as you can imagine) and really positive about the future.

Hopefully it works out for both sides.

A very lazy article. Took what was obvious and ignored what wasn't.

A Walkley will never be his.

Ryan is typical of the modern press. Write to appease.

The fact that it's an interesting question to you, and not an instant answer of 'of course I'll be sticking with the Dees' says all we need to know about you Chewy.

Jog on, pal.

In respect of a discussion in which there are plainly competing, but relevant and reasonable viewpoints on each side of the debate, this is the sort of comment that unecessarily personalises and inflames the issue.

Why bother with making such a remark?

The one thing I take out of this trade is that Jack Watts is an exceptionally well mannered individual. He has class. Class in adversity. His parents should be proud.

Manners show respect. And it is never unattractive to see people display courtesy and respect for one another. I wish some posters here would try to adhere to these standards. We all support the same team.

One thing I have learnt from this thread.  There are a significant number of MFC supporters that are as equally bad as our worst team during the past ten years.

we ask the club to grow some nads, yet many supporters are so limp it’s laughable!

the gentile MFC supporters belong in the anus of history as much as our worst teams.

Because I don't trust the bloke.  He's turned up here as the Watts stuff took off and went from being totally harmless on the issue to claiming he is Watts' uncle.  Then he has to think about sticking with the Dees because, you know, he's supported us for 9 years which is the length of time Jack has been with the club.

This is purely my opinion, but Chewy is a troll.  I wouldn't believe a word he types on this forum.  Hence, why I encouraged him to 'jog on'.

I'd never use that turn of phrase with posters who have been here for a long time or shown themselves to be quality contributors to these forums.  He's neither.

You're a good poster Wise.

In my observation, using the word 'pal' tends to fire people up.

In this thread in particular, it'd be kind of be good to take the oxygen out of the fire, rather than add to it.

As an aside, I have found the arguments put forward for trading Watts to be absolutely compelling. In between the 'lols' and the other stupid posts, there is actually some interesting and informative discussion on this thread. To those posters, thanks.

Agree with all WB. He hasn’t actually given us any information, Jack was also recently interviewed where he stated he lives with his best mate and cousin. I’m quite dubious of these types of posters.

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
